I told you already, we have material ready for the detector, and it would take another unnecessary flight back to the detector and half a reassembly to actually place the item in there. Even then, neither the sword nor your limb would fit in the chamber, so once I try to use it as emission material, it will just break the detector arrays. Whatever."
Icarus sighed and held a finger up to his temple. The green button stopped glowing and moved into an "off" position. Then he waited, expectantly looking at the screens. For five seconds nothing happened... until the central screen finally showed a firework-like pattern of red, orange, yellow and blue lines.
"Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes! It works, it works, it works! YEEEESSSSSS!"
The robot happily jumped around the room, coming dangerously close to the screens in the process. After a while, he caught himself and examined the pattern.
"Some of the lines are bent - that must be Neptune's magnetic field, no doubt. Guess I can live with that... So", he turned back to the group, "I've just transported a charge of hydrogen plasma to the main detector chamber, and what you can see here is all the radiation that it's letting loose as a result of the transport. You can see gamma-", he pointed at some long, bent lines, "-beta-", he moved his finger to some shorter lines, which all stopped at a certain border, "-and alpha radiation. Looks like we're doing some fusion in the chamber too", he pointed at a few really short lines. "I say this experiment is a massive success!"
He paused for a second, further examining the graph.
"I don't recognize this bit right here..." His finger went to a blue path, which described a spiral, and stopped right along with the beta radiation.

"...oops, already getting ahead of myself. Now that you mention it, I don't actually know what I brought you here for, besides a showcase... Well, the showcase is over, does anyone still have a question before I bring you all back home?"
A new firework pattern appeared on the main screen.
"Oh, and for anyone interested, I will try my best to set up a hyperlink to the detector's research data, after we're done here."

"Delta is in fact the fourth letter of the Greek alphabet. And yes, we could be calling it delta radiation, but I honestly don't know what it's made off, and judging by the size of the multiverse, there could be way more types of radiation than greek letters..."
Icarus' thoughts started trailing off.
"...Then there's the fact that the known radiation types are named after how well they can penetrate matter - alpha can be held back by a piece of paper, beta by a... what was it, an aluminium plate?"
He went inanimate for a second.
"Yep, aluminium, and gamma needs thick lead shielding. And if I want to introduce new types of radiation into this naming scheme, I have to consider how well they penetrate material... oh, sorry, I'm trailing off again, aren't I?"
He let off a chuckle.

"See ya, Prophet." While the Prophet was disappearing, Icarus took some wide-spectrum images of the disappearance, which he then decided to save onto a local computer. Then he faced Uirst.
"Dunno if I want to store this radiation. Since it's basically from other universes, it's probably got a finite half-life... hold up, let me check something."
He turned around back to the screens. One side monitor was cycling through the four scans that the detector has made so far, then it stopped.
"Ah, perfect! See this blue strand right here?" Icarus was pointing towards a tiny blue line, which started outside of the alpha radiation area, described a strong turn, then got replaced by two yellow lines and one orange line almost immediately afterwards. "There was some exotic particle here, which decayed into some native quantum objects within... that should be less than one microsecond. I can try to store it using a particle accelerator and relativistic time dilation, but I probably wouldn't be able to cover the energy bill by plastering a whole planet with fusion reactors. Point is, I won't be storing it, because the detectors are already giving me a whole bunch of information on it for free, and, as I said already, storage is impractical."
By far the worst part about writing this identity theory is that I can't take any actual measurements and make deductions based on them ![[lol]](https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lol2v12_4863.png "[lol]"){kind=small}

"Alright Uirst, see ya on the thread." Another full-spectrum scan of that disappearance, and the room was empty yet again. Icarus ordered the building to be drained of air, then opened all the airlocks and stored his current body back into the ship that he used to transport his guests - but not before retrieving a screen from said ship and sending it into storage. He was gonna use that a lot in the future, he believed. The ship automatically launched itself into lunar orbit, and Icarus transmitted himself back to the SS Nomad.

A big neon food truck rolls up.
"HELLLOOOO EVERYONE- I GOT OUT OF- huh. Everyone left. Eh, I'll just eat these sour cream and onion Pringles with my bros. BUH-BYE!"
The food truck proceeds to go into a portal that suddenly appeared- presumably somewhere fun.
just figured Hot Rash would do that, wanting to celebrate with the people he talked with on the forum.

"Feeling confident, eh?", a voice announces over the ship's intercom. "Eh, hold up, I'll get myself an explorer body."
The door to Shadow's dark chamber opens, revealing a mildly-lit hallway with ceiling windows giving a clear view into the depths of space. You can't see any of the familiar star formations. The air in the hallway feels fresh, but hot.
Soon after, another door leading to the hallway opens with a hiss, and a human-sized robot with a cube-shaped head enters. He walks over to Shadow and holds his fist out forward for a fistbump.
"You must be Shadow, right? Are you ready?"

Icarus musters Shadow for a while, then scans him from multiple directions, seemingly not noticing GF. Does he have clothes where you could hide a camera?
"Hiding a camera on you will take a while - I've already got the photo chip and the lens prepared, but it's not attachable to a specific spot yet... In the meantime, can I ask you to test this thing out?"
He hands over a small white and surprisingly light metal rod with a button on one side. Then he holds two fingers to where his right temple would be, and all the lights in the hallway turn off. A small drone comes in and attaches a spotlight to the ceiling, which immediately turns on and focuses on Shadow.
"Once you press the button on this rod - careful, it's spring-loaded! - it should unfold into a bit of cover - enough to make yourself a shadow to travel back home. Go on, give it a try!"

Hearing GF's voice makes Icarus jump. "GF? What are you doing here? I thought you went home after the visit to the IDD terminal? I know for sure that I took down the whole facility, and I didn't find a single hint of organic life during the deconstruction!"
