So, Rapunzel Hair is a trope for characters with long hair and the connotations associated with long hair. In practice, it's used for any character with long hair which isn't a trope in my eyes. I don't think long hair is notable by itself unless it's floor length.The femininity aspects that the description notes already covered by Long Hair Is Feminine. The other aspect (long hair as a symbol of royalty/high status) seems tropable to me but we didn't many examples with that context in the wick check.

For example, the latest arc began with a Rapunzel Haired Pibgorn messing around with dewdrops in a meadow, with the panels interrupted by a giant rack-focused number 8 on a plain white background out of nowhere. It then switched to short-haired Pibgorn and Drucilla talking on a glacier (Rapunzel-Hair Pib is a flashback). Pib suddenly fainted then attacked Drucilla who fought back, and then the giant 8 explodes in a shower of Photoshop brushes.
- NiceHat.Video Games: The male protagonist of Legend of Mana wears a big red floppy hat that gets complimented (and made fun of) on at least one occasion; for the female one, it's her kickin' Rapunzel Hair (pothole) rad hair pipes.

- Characters.Goblin Slayer Traveling Companions And Loved Ones: When brushed out it extends past her butt. She is a princess in her homeland, you know.
- FinalFantasyIX.Tropes Q To Z: Princess Garnet has hair that reaches her butt until she cuts it, and it also has very rapid growth as it grows back to that full length over the length of a year (though this could be attributed to the devs not bothering to make yet another model for the ending scenes and her hair growning back would be a good indicator that time had passed).
- Literature.Chronicles Of The Kencyrath: Foil: Jame and Brier: They have a Red Oni, Blue Oni thing going on. Brier is solemn, very military and highly disciplined, and Jame is kind of a loose cannon. Physically they contrast too: Brier is dark-skinned, tall and sturdy, with Boyish Short Hair, and Jame pale, skinny and waif-like, with Rapunzel Hair. They are also both masculine or androgynous after a fashion, making them a Bifauxnen and Lad-ette duo. Used as a contrasting element to another character.
- Manhua.Choukakou: Lots of characters have this and is a staple for noble women. Chang Ge's hair is around knee length though she usually has it up, Mimi's is down to her calves and is wavy on top of that. Astrologer Li Chunfeng's hair is actually touching the floor. Mujin at least has the sense to put his into a braid but Ashina Sun finds no problem in jumping onto horses and fighting with his butt length hair loose. The person who takes the case is probably Chang Ge's mother, Li Jin, and is said to be incredibly beautiful.
Conclusion: I don't think there's any way we can salvage this trope if everyone is using it for any character with long hair. I think we will just have to turn the page into a disambiguation between long hair tropes like Long Hair Is Feminine, Long-Haired Pretty Boy, Barbarian Longhair, Power Makes Your Hair Grow, and Rapid Hair Growth. The "long hair as a status symbol" can be probably be yarded.

I thought this was supposed to be a hair equivalent to Impractically Fancy Outfit, where a character grows their hair to lengths that's very hard to practically maintain, but never seems to bother the character. Not sure if that's any more tropeworthy, since in practice it's probably just going to be used as "character has very long hair" regardless

The wick check doesn't have enough examples like that for such a retool to work, so it would have to be Yarded. In fact, a lot of the examples that say how long the hair is don't have it touching the floor and/or being inconvenient.

There's plenty of on-examples for floor length hair (found at least 28 instances using the ctrl+f for "floor"). I can sort them out on Sandbox.Rapunzel Hair when I have the time to. Most of them don't mention the hair being an inconvenience though but that's not something most works touch upon anyways.
But, yeah, most people use the trope for anyone with waist length hair so we can just yard Floor Length Hair and then disambig Rapunzel Hair.

Rapunzel Hair should be a viable name for Floor Length Hair, but because it was defined too broadly to begin with and ended up drifting into Chairs as a result it might be hard to impossible to salvage for that purpose without it attracting Chairs-y examples again, so maybe a hard reset under a new name is necessary.
Another appearance-based trope from a decade ago being misused? Must be Sunday.

I made Sandbox.Impractically Long Hair to house examples of hair that's impractically long for their profession or lifestyle and examples where long is noted to be bothersome in universe. I am not fully confident about floor-length hair being enough context on its own so I tabled those examples.

I'm not sure if it counts, but a possible example is in Yandere Simulator. There are two elimination methods that involve Ayano exploiting Osana almost floor-length hair. One of these methods is inspired by a nightmare Osana describes to Senpai, who interpretes it as a sign that Osana's hair is a hazard for her.

I think the problem is that it's less of a characterization trope and more of a design trope, to give the character a more distinctive silhouette. Jasmine's giant bubble ponytail, Starfire's 80s hair, Sesshomaru's cape of white hair, it all helps to make the design more memorable and to make them stick out even in shadow or from a distance. You know how often the Indiana Jones movies use the fedora to make it clear it's Indy even when you can't see anything but the shadow? Arcane uses Jinx's braids the same way, just to give one example. It's less to inform characterization like action braids or power hair and more like having a nice hat or a cape or using complementary colors.

Well, the trope has always framed itself as a characterization trope. It was supposed to cover instances where long hair indicates a character's femininity (even though that's covered by Long Hair Is Feminine) and high status. I think the visually striking thing is more akin to Distinctive Appearances (might be a more fitting trope around). I don't think long hair being visually striking is notable by itself unless it's exceptionally long.

It would probably have less quibbling on how long the hair needs to be to "count", since you rarely see distinctively long hairstyles that are shoulder to mid-back length.
