Well yeah, that's exactly where it sat for the entirety of W.
Well the other hats don't match in the specifics so much, but the layout and THE hat being there is important.
◊ I'd try and get a better picture but I'm not looking through the entire series for it.
(Expecting a 1:1 correspondence would be a bit overkill)

The Futo manga in general has excellent action scenes, some of my favorites are Extreme vs the 1st Reactor Dopant in vol 5, Accel Booster vs Owl Dopant in vol 7, HeatJoker vs the Crab Dopants tag team in vol 9, and FangMetal vs Deep Dopant in vol 11. Too bad only the first one will probably got animated unless it gets a second season.

episode one was weeks ago how do you expect me to remember if the bird showed up D:
But sweet
Maybe we get to have that song show up or something. It'd be nice.
Unless he gets too distracted researching cheese or something. xD

Final Impressions
- Bastard: It's the cover art for a heavy metal album come to life. Lots of gore, nudity and camp. The animation is what really hooked me, it's modern while still being faithful to a grungy 80s art style.
Threadless Talk:
- Yurei Deco: The middle portion of this series adopted a Mystery of the Week format, with each episode sprinkling vague hints of the core plot at the end. Unfortunately this also resulted in the show settling into a boring, predictable rhythm. I find the exploration of sci fi concepts a bit too rudimentary, and oh boy the cast still has not grown on me. They make a big deal out of Finn "betraying" the Detective Club but they never felt close-knit in the first place. May drop at any time.
- Summertime Render: Seems like almost all the cards of both factions have been revealed and the only thing left to do is for them to clash. Really liking how both humans and Shadows are constantly finding ways to outplay their enemies. There's a constant sense of danger, the story refuses to hit the brakes, and that amps up the excitement like all good action thrillers do. Definitely continuing.
- Shoot! Goal to the Future: Overly melodramatic and a poor representation of how football is played. May drop at any time.
- Ao Ashi: In stark contrast to the above, this one is a detailed, deep dive into football techniques and tactics. Perhaps even overly so, because sometimes matches play out like they're theoretical models in a simulation (though the upcoming match against Musashino won't be like that). Aoi is a great shonen MC; he might be lacking in a lot of areas, and stubborn, but his heart is always in the right place, and his earnest drive to improve himself is something worth cheering for. Continuing.
- Isekai Ojisan: The combination of the titular ojisan's bag of magic tricks and... unique personality serves as an abundant supply of potential gags. More than that though, the show manages to sneak in a surprising amount of worldbuilding for the fantasy world, and having a clear image of that place helps enrich the comedy. Poor Elf. Definitely continuing.
- Lucifer and the Biscuit Hammer: It's a terrible adaptation of an amazing manga. Glad to have an excuse to revisit this story, though. May drop at any time.
- Kuro no Shoukanshi: It's kind of boring watching a Blood Knight if he's curbstomping the competition. This protagonist needs stronger opponents; the poor sap had to pretend to be a villain to get a halfway decent challenge. May drop at any time.
- Extreme Hearts: We're finally past the recruitment phase, so we can get back to the wacky sports competitions. Continuing.
- Classroom of the Elite 2nd Season: Still waiting on the mind games that require the actual use of a brain. May drop at any time.
- Fuuto PI: I'm a sucker for people with mix-and-match abilities and you're telling me this Kamen Rider has all those modes and gizmos? Beautiful. A tasty treat for tokusatsu fans everywhere. Definitely continuing.
- RWBY: The dive into Weiss's mind has definitely made this more like a SHAFT anime. The gang trying to free Weiss from the Nightmare is a way better plot and has better writing than what the original web animation ever had, but that's not a high bar to clear. Also sadly there's too few action scenes, and that's what I watched RWBY for. May drop at any time.

Yeah, from W through to Fourze they were really into mixing and matching (I think they stopped that by Wizard, I never looked into that one) components. Of course, the various super mode things from the original series tended to drop that because they can only make so many suits for one thing, so they don't get in on it... although I think because this was first a manga, they have more leeway for the mid-season upgrade one?†
† If nothing else, at least both the mid-season upgrade and super mode managed to get their silhouettes in the episode.

I did watch Wizard it had been dropped by then. I think they realised there was no reasonable way to fit five different areas and come up with enough gimmicks to populate them.
(Double through Gaim also had a numermic theme naming going on as well with the number increasing each year. Double, OOO, Fourze were really obvious, Wizard had a hand motif representing 5 fingers, Gaim had "Lock Seeds" as the transformation gimmicks. With lock being a homophone for "roku" (6 in Japanese) and the padlock design making them look like a 6 if you squinted just right it still counted. But it was obviously pushing the limit which is why it was dropped by the time they hit Drive.)
Didn't notice the number theme. Then again, I wouldn't have been squinting at lock seeds (and I haven't watched any since Gaim, so noticing it had stopped would be even harder).
damn now the OOO's OP is stuck in my head, it's too catchy if anything reminds me of it

My fully narrowed down list of summer shows:
Lycoris Recoil: The anime of the season. One of the best recent "Girls With Guns" series.
Tokyo Mew Mew New: Filled with nostalgia, I still maintain you can see this show as the early 00s bridge between 90s Sailor Moon and the modern Pretty Cure franchise.
Vermeil in Gold: This show is utter trash, with both female leads hornier than most hentai protagonists, but the characters are endearing, and the plot entertaining, if well-trodden. The strange category of 'Enjoyable trash' - And at least. unlike some of the other trash shows this season, there's no slavery involved.
Parallel World Pharmacy: Its almost standard overpowered isekai tropes. But with the MC wanting to use his abilities to heal, not harm makes it worth watching anyway.
RWBY: Ice Queendom: Growing bored with it, but I'll finish it out. I would much rather they had wrapped up this trapped in a Nightmare GRIMM much faster. but it seems that is the whole plot.
My Isekai Life: even more bog-standard isekai. But the slimes are all very endearing and carry the show. If a typical isekai protagonist is bland as toast, this guy is a slice of plain wonder bread that hasn't even been toasted yet. The slimes are all that's worth watching.
Lucifer and the Biscuit Hammer: In spite of the terrible production, the excellent underlying story comes through. I'm not going to go spend a hundred bucks or more on the out-pf-print manga, so I'll stick with this to finish it.
Shine On! Bakumatsu Bad Boys: A typical short Shonen. I've enjoyed the idea of 'criminals recruited to be cops in 1863 Japan' but overall the show is only 'good' not great.
Bastard!!: Finished what's out there. Its very much a 14-year-old's idea of sexy, edgy stuff. I have some nostalgia from the 90s OVA, but it's very out of place these days
Dropkick on My Devil X Episode 2 in a nutshell:

"Happy Halloween, I suppose..."

I was super pleased to see that Luna actually got to be used.
Of the six basic memories in Double, it was by far the least used because that would mean doing CGI. Very obvious CGI too.
Things like this shot are really cool.
◊ The amount of fidelity they have to the W sets is amazing.
