So, season started for me also.
Lycoris Recoil was decent. It had a good action, decent direction and some intrigue. I am still not convinced about the plot but I'm a sucker for this kind of series, so I'll watch it at least for now.
Utawarerumono: Futari no Hakuoro is good. People are still super salty about S2 and I get them. But looks like the staff reconsidered their mistakes and this adaptation should be way better (or at least close to S1). Hardcore fans of orignal game will still complain, though.
Engage Kiss is odd. I really like Maruto Fumiaki as a writer but I don't get what to expect from this. EP 1 had a decent comedy and action but I had a WTF reaction most of the time. And I'm a guy who generally omplains about people ignoring the series that make you think about the plot.
Also Teppen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! has a cool OP but I have zero desire watching it.

Well, Lycoris Recoil sure is something right off the bat. It already feels like they're going to have some things to say about the whole nationalistic "we're #1 for world peace, or else" thing the Lycoris uphold, especially since Chisato is already openly critical of the DA's methodology. Definitely gonna keep up with this one unless it gets really weird or grody. Also, I'm always down for yuri flavor with guns.
It's been fun.I'm posting this here to make it accessible, but I remember someone wondering about the Broken Base entry on Spriggan.

This is one post that someone has, sharing his dislike on the having the Holy Grail Arc where Hitler's involved (and being a good guy)...
Initial Reactions: You0 Deco
On one hand, the world looks pretty surreal and futuristic. On the other, it sounds dystopic what with the obsession with LOVE and the possible allusion to social credit scores. The intro was pretty fun to watch, but after, I felt like I didn't know what I was watching...
Luminous Witches: Starts off with a couple solid enough scenes, then commits to being the most mid-grade thing imaginable. Bland characters, mediocre animation, limp humour. Only thing interesting is the premise
You0 Deco: The problem isn't that it's weird, it's that it's not very good. The art style is unusual, but ugly and not really that imaginative. The concept isn't common in anime, but very common in short-form SF. The only interesting plot elements are from deliberately obtuse nonsense. The characters are annoying
First Impressions
- Teppen: The sheer randomness of the girls was consistently amusing. Found myself smiling at the ojou who wants to spray gold flakes on everything and the girl who might be an honest-to-goodness alien. That said, it’s not made me laugh out loud and I don’t think it ever will. Might have given it a shot in a slower season but this cour, this act is destined to be overshadowed. Dropped.
- Shoot! Goal to the Future: The melodrama is grating like nails on a chalkboard, but the animation work, at least for the kicks, was pretty good. Need to see a full match before I decide on its score, but I highly doubt this will even be half as good as Ao Ashi. Trying until episode three.
- Lycoris Recoil: I’m just saying, if someone’s gotta pop a cap in me, I’d like that someone to be a peppy cutie like Chisato. The part where she calmly walks up to four armed thugs and systematically defeats them is a thing of beauty. Having the peace in Japan be primarily supported by schoolgirl hitmen is funny, but you kinda just have to roll with the premise. The DA and LycoReco having different stances on how to deal with criminals could also be a source of conflict for future episodes. And we need to learn more about that wrecked radio tower! It’s been a while since we’ve had one of these Girls with Guns shows and this is already looking like a winner for the subgenre. Definitely continuing.
- Engage Kiss: So the male lead is a deadbeat who relies on two women to support him financially. He can’t pay for food but he’s still ordering gadgets online. He just quit a company to supposedly pursue only the jobs he wants but he hires that same company to help him with the job anyway? He’s also said to be a genius but he didn’t really seem like it. Why do the two main girls even like him?! Is is pure harem protagonist trope power? Setting the garbage MC aside, the production values are top-notch, for both the action scenes and uhhh the other kind of action scene. So, good for a brainless watch. But man the lead guy is trash. Trying until episode three.
- Yurei Deco: Peel off the colorful, sugary paint and discover a cyberpunk dystopia where the main currency is social media likes. I’m loving the cohesion of the setting, like how the buildings are just concrete slabs because they’ll plop AR imagery on them anyway. Nice references to Mark Twain too, wonder if that will be significant. The dialogue and exposition are a bit of a miss, sprinkled with a bit too many clunky catchphrases and jargon, and overall I’m a bit worried the story is going to make itself seem more complicated than it actually is. Continuing.

Initial Reactions:
Tensei Kenja no Isekai Life: The first two episodes were a blast! The first established our main chara Yuuji, and the second continued that and added to a mystery to be solved later. There were badass scenes and cute scenes, and I definitely liked them! Can't wait to see how this ends!
Classroom of the Elite S2: Already starting with a special exam, eh? Well, this is gonna be one hell of a season... Lots of focus on Karuizawa, it seems
Luminous Witches: Go to be back in the Strike Witches/World Witches setting, and surprisingly for the franchise there wasn't a panty shot in sight. While all the characters seem to be analogous to the characters in the original, I will wait to see how they develop before passing judgement. The Amazing Grace scene was great though.
After the first weekend:
Bastard!!: Just like I remember the original, but better animated. will definitely continue.
Lycoris Recoil: fun show with Gunslinger Girl and Dirty Pair vibes. one of the M Cs is a dead ringer for Chitose from Hyouka. Girls with Guns is a favorite, will watch.
Teppen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!: Comedy about Manzai comedy did not hit with me. I think I just don't get manzai, ss I had the same problem with Homo Sapiens (Oddtaxi). dropped.
Engage Kiss: likely drop. main character is a loser and close to scum (why are two girls fighting over this deadbeat), one girl is the 'but that high school girl came on to me, your honor!' trope, and the plot was confusing amd scattered. I give it one more episode to explain itself.
RWBY: Ice Queendom: a new direction for RWBY, decent so far without the need for the years of cruft the originsl has built up. Watching so far
Yurei Deco: solid augmented reality series from the creative studio behind Keep your Hands off Eizouken. Colorful cartoony style feels right for a kid-utopia virtual reality. Very much reminds me of Dennou Coil. definite watch.
My Isekai Life: MC is a corporate programmer burnout, and has the dead personality to show for it, hopefilly he'll open up as the series goes on. The many slimes are adorable and carry the show. Fun so far, but the MC needs to recover from his Burnout.
Yet to launch:

Tokyo Mew Mew New
Isekai Ojisan
Prima Doll
The Yakuza's Guide to Babysitting

Yeah it does, for anime threads I normally go back and ctrl-f the Manga & Anime pages until I'm back to the point it aired.
In this case it was just on page two though
You actually made the anime thread too!

Next batch.
Renmei Kuugun Koukuu Mahou Ongakutai Luminous Witches is fine. It got postponded a few times so they even changed a couple of their newbie idols for it. But in general despite heavy desire to make an idol show in the setting (and a lack of ecchi content because of it) the first ep was pretty solid. It is also good to have a different MC for once, Yoshika and Hikari were to similar (not the same, but still). Airheaded scottish girl as the new protagoist. Why not? Japanese rendition of "Amazing Grace" was pretty good. So for now my love to this franchise is battling with me being super tired of idol anime (I liked them in general but got fed of them). Oh, and I need to identify prototypes for all main girls as I only got like 5 out of 9.
Youkoso Jitsuryoku Shijou Shugi no Kyoushitsu e 2 was decent. I was not to big fan of it during the S1 run but mind games here are entertaining enough so I am at least intrigued about the new test. Unless it delves to much in character drama, I will continue watching it.
On the unrelated note. I wonder if they speed-up and put the whole Ilblue arc of Made in Abyss in 12 eps or will we get a movie/another core? Considering a bit slow pace of S1 I am fine with the former.

First Impressions
- Classroom of the Elite S2:. Season 1 didn’t feel big-brain at all, and apparently that’s because the anime skips a lot of the details that enrich the mysteries. So I’m hoping this season does better on that front. Helps that we’re jumping right into a spot-the-impostor kind of game; I’m waiting for Ayanokouji to legitimately impress me. Trying until the current game ends.
- Vermeil in Gold: This is for those folks who want to be teased by a sexy older woman. I found it odd that they cut away from a lot of the spicy stuff, but then it’s also rather tame as far as ecchi goes. Like it knows its audience but for some reason it lessens its appeal to said audience by not committing to the bawdiness. Odd. Dropped.
The Tokyo mew mew reboot first episode was so fun! I was wondering how they were going to handle it in comparison to the first anime and manga but if the first anime was an (sometimes a bit too) expanded adaptation this one is a bit more compressed. That's not a negative though because the episode was very well paced, the humour and character interactions were on point and despite the modern designs the comedy bits and face game all felt very early 2000s, it was nice.
I absolutely cannot help but adore handsome 2D boys- Cardfight Vanguard will+dress: Season 3 is here, and this is definitely the best time to teach people how the game works in general, I can understand completely why they waited until now to have a tutorial. I don't think they actually covered what the hell an overdress is at all, but maybe that's because it'll be replaced by whatever the hell a will+dress is.
But yeah, it was a pretty good episode. We have a few new characters running around, and I'm not sure if Urara is going to be replacing Yu-yu as protag, but it probably doesn't matter much, given how little relevance he had in the last couple seasons. She's a prodigal newbie, and somehow got an invite to a huge tournament coming up, so I guess we'll see how that goes (please don't end up being Hiro 2.0). Also hope it focuses more on the actual card game throughout, I imagine that's what Cardfight fans are looking for, even if the So L stuff was pretty good. - Dropkick on my Devil X: Been looking forward to this one, and it did not disappoint- well, okay, it doesn't have an ED sequence as epic as Love SATISFACTIOOOONNNN
, but the humour continues to be on-point. Also much less gory than usual, not sure if that was deliberate or just a circumstance of the skits here, but I guess I'm not all that fussed either way. I'm just happy for Jashin content that isn't machine-translated garbage.
I've yet to watch will+dress, but my understanding is that this season (And maybe season four as well?) is a tournament arc and Yuyu is part of the protagonist team. I don't think they'd replace him since the first two seasons were about him coming into his own as a Cardfight Vanguard player (More or less anyways. Season two was mostly Danji focused with a splash of Toya focus.). Maybe I'll feel different once I watch the episode though.

Isekai Life: Well, it's trying. Some decent direction on display. Which is then ruined by the low production values and bland story. Oh well
Arsnotoria: High-tier animation, solid direction, good design work... and it's in service of a bunch of insipid uguu kawaii moeblobs. Well, that and a fairly dark scene at the end. Going to be giving another episode or two to see if it picks up
Abyss: ...Do we really need the child rape? And torture? So, this episode did a lot to remind me of what I dislike about the series (loli-shota bullshit, misery porn) and not much of what I like (the weird shit). Probably still going to give another episode, though

Teppen: I mean, it's not unwatchable. Consistently slightly amusing throughout. Odd sort of humour where there's no real punchlines
LycoReco: Ooh, I like this one. Good direction, good animation, some neat visuals, leans yuri. Closest point of comparison for the plot is probably Princess Principal, but this is modern-day (near-future?) and looks likely to be more philosophically motivated
