Hello all. A while back, I was browsing TV Tropes and noticed that, similar to this query about the Comic Book namespace in Wiki Talk, there are several pages in the Western Animation namespace that are really just about characters rather than works. One such an example would be WesternAnimation.Pete. I've brought it up in Ask The Tropers here and they told me creating a thread here would be a good idea, so here I am.

Having, for instance, a WesternAnimation.MickeyMouse page isn't so bad, since Mickey is a very central character, usually the protagonist, and the shorts in which he appears are usually categorized under his name. Same counts for Donald Duck et al. and even Pluto. But a character like Pete, who is an antagonist, doesn't really deserve to be in the Western Animation namespace since, well, he's an antagonist. And even in shorts where he would be a Villain Protagonist (I've admittedly forgotten if such shorts exist or not), they'd more likely be considered Mickey Mouse/Donald Duck/etc. shorts depending on which of the central characters also appears in it. As a result, most if not all of the tropes listed on the Western Animation page are about him as a character.

Of course, this particular page is only one example. Another could possibly be WesternAnimation.DaisyDuck since, while starring in many shorts (even as a protagonist in several), those are all considered Donald Duck shorts and should officially be indexed under that. This as opposed to the Disney Ducks Comic Universe, where comics with her as the protagonist are usually under her name too (and she even has her own magazine in some countries) — but those are comics, not cartoons, so I think you get my point.

Obviously, I don't wanna do anything like this without consensus, so that's why I'm bringing it up here. Additional suggestions are also very much welcome.

Also, I've only checked this with Disney Shorts-related pages, but perhaps there are pages related to other companies that might have similar issues. So this isn't merely a "Disney cleanup" in case that wasn't clear.

The Looney Tunes guys are in a similar boat. I have mentioned the similar case with Bugs Bunny here and support this project.

I think like the comic book characters the Western Animation/ pages can stay if they have shorts under their names, otherwise they should be moved to Characters/.

So I’ve been involved in the Comicbook cleanup for a while now. If you want an idea of where to start you can look here. It’s a general summary of the Comicbook namespace cleanup project with a list of all the Sandboxes for page moves. That should hopefully help get started.

It's gonna be fun on the bun!
