C.R.E.A.M. is actually a pretty well-known rap song. The Other Wiki says that it is considered one of the greatest Hip-Hop songs (if not songs period) of all time, and there are multiple articles from big websites written about the song.
Although I could be biased as I listen to a lot of Hip-Hop. Perhaps on this site it isn't very well-known, and that's contributing to the problem (even though I like the name personally.) I am personally in favor of yarding it as I do agree that "nerdy Shout-Out" is not different enough from Shout-Out to preserve on its own. Perhaps if it goes to TLP it could get a new name too.

TRS Queue | Works That Require Cleanup of Complaining | Troper WallI would say we can expand the definition to nerdy rap and hip-hop, regardless of how well-known the singer's nerdity is.
Ukrainian Red CrossDoesn't Nerdcore cover Hip-Hop specifically meant to be nerdy?
TRS Queue | Works That Require Cleanup of Complaining | Troper WallAlso, what exactly is the distinction between the two? I might come across as an uncultured normie, but I'm not that much of an ace with genres.
Just considering the possibility that these two might be redundant to each other.
Despite everything, Skibidi Toilet is not the end of the universe. Seriously. Is there much difference between nerdy rap and nerdy hip-hop? If not, then this trope can be merged into Nerdcore.
Rap is just another word for Hip-Hop.
TRS Queue | Works That Require Cleanup of Complaining | Troper WallSo what is the difference between Comics Rule Everything Around Me and Nerdcore, then?
EDIT: To answer my own question, the respective pages say about the other trope:
- Comics Rule Everything Around Me: "The entire genre of Nerdcore is basically taking this trope and running with it like you had the Speed Force."
- Nerdcore: "Comics Rule Everything Around Me is for when rappers in other genres start throwing in nerdy allusions."
So the difference is: Comics Rule Everything Around Me - Rappers make nerdy references; Nerdcore - Rappers make an entire genre out of nerdy references? Feels like a superficial difference to me; I vote merge.

Or (as I see it)
- Comics Rule Everything Around Me: Hip-hop with nerdy Shout-Out
- Nerdcore: Nerdy Shout-Out genre of hip-hop
If that's the case, Nerdcore seems to be The Same But More for Comics Rule Everything Around Me, which itself is The Same But More Specific for Shout-Out (as in the latter meaning "Pop-cultural references in works" and the earlier, "Pop-cultural references in rap music".
Despite everything, Skibidi Toilet is not the end of the universe. Seriously. Then, if CREAM is to be cut, I suggest to split its examples between Shout-Out (for references to nerdy media in rap music) and Nerdcore (for rap music centered around nerdy things).

Despite everything, Skibidi Toilet is not the end of the universe. Seriously. At only 37 wicks, I think we can merge this with Shout-Out and leave Nerdcore alone. I agree that Nerdcore isn't the same since it's an entire genre, while this trope is about Shout Outs and can appear in other genres.
Currently sick, so less active. If a Trope Repair Shop thread needs attention, holler or ask an engineer. Then again, I don't think Nerdcore can be just left like that. That page is also in need of some help, I believe.
Despite everything, Skibidi Toilet is not the end of the universe. Seriously. Why? It seems to be in good condition (~60 wicks, decent-length examples page) for what seems to be a relatively niche genre. Just because we don't have pages for a lot of its examples doesn't the page itself is not worth having/needs fixing (my favorite example: Gaucho)

I see that. Again, might need to do some more research into it.
But yeah, In favor of merging CREAM with Shout-Out and Nerdcore, based on which examples refer to what.
Despite everything, Skibidi Toilet is not the end of the universe. Seriously.Since Nerdcore is a genre and not a trope (meaning it's something that uses tropes), I think having a list of artists on the main page is more important than having wicks elsewhere on the wiki.

TRS Queue | Works That Require Cleanup of Complaining | Troper WallAbsolutely. I would have done it sooner had I remembered it's been three days.

Currently sick, so less active. If a Trope Repair Shop thread needs attention, holler or ask an engineer. The amount of yeas has gone up by three since yesterday. The amount of nays is still the same.
Currently sick, so less active. If a Trope Repair Shop thread needs attention, holler or ask an engineer.Calling in favor of disambiguating.
Currently sick, so less active. If a Trope Repair Shop thread needs attention, holler or ask an engineer.I moved the on-page examples to Shout-Out and disambiguated the page. I can probably finish up the wicks later, but right now my arms hurt from moving the on-page examples.

Crown Description:
Comics Rule Everything Around Me has a low wick count and overlaps with other tropes like Shout Out, Nerdcore, Heavy Mithril, and Filk Song. What should be done with it?
Comics Rule Everything Around Me is supposed to be about rap songs that are about unexpectedly nerdy subjects, as a sort of sister-trope to Nerdcore (hip-hop), Heavy Mithril (metal), and Filk.
In practice, it's being used for that, any form of nerdy Shout-Out in a rap song (even if it's incidental to the song's overall subject), and for troping actual artists who are open about being nerds.
Wick check results:
There are 2 options as I see them: expand the trope to include Shout Outs within rap songs, or send it to the salvage yard or TLP if someone will sponsor it. I don't think that 'rap song has a nerdy Shout-Out in it' is meaningfully different enough from Shout-Out as a whole to be worth splitting off, so my preference is to yard it.
Additionally, it's an 11-year old trope with only 37 wicks. At least some of that is probably due to its name being a reference to a song that most people have never heard of. If we keep it, it could use a less opaque name.
