Needs Help: Standard Snippet

Also created a sandbox for uses of "O Fortuna" in works. May as well leave that up and replace the work page with the contents of the first sandbox.

How are things going here?

Safe to say that Carmina Burana is the only one of the Music/ pages I can repurpose as an actual work page. The rest can be safely redirected to StandardSnippet/ as per the crowner. The sandbox is still up for an actual StandardSnippet/OFortuna page, and a description would be nice.

As for the contents of the page itself, there has been an interesting point raised that there would be a ZCE problem, something that should be addressed. In any case, the contents of the sandbox within are much preferable to the table format.

Bumping. Any thoughts on Amonimus' sandbox? They did raise a point about the examples even after detabling them. If it's easy to provide little, then the structure is fundamentally flawed and needs a crowner.

Much as I hate double, even triple posting, we starting that crowner on Pachelbel's Canon/Pachelbel's Canon Progression?

As for , maybe we just have the examples sorted by specific works instead of listing the snippets themselves so we will have:

• Work X: Y music snippet plays during this sad scene where Bob...

I don't follow the thread so I don't know if this is a bad idea or not and we'll obviously example farm/cross wick. Not sure what to do with the song list itself though.

Posting this comment to make public that I voted in favor of a merge.

And for the merge, I do believe that the work page should be merged into Progression, and make the latter the subpage.

Can we temporarily un-table-ize the page based on this draft? It's literally the same page without the markup. We can decide what to do with sorting later.

I thought we were going to re-evaluate the sorting because of ZCE issues. But if we aren't going to that, then I guess we are done here? I don't follow this thread closely

Bumping again to see if there's anything left to do.

Do we want to visually separate music tropes like Minsky Pickup from SS/ subpages at Standard Snippet page or it's fine? Also are these remaining music alright or they're not real tropes and shoukd be turned into SS/ as well?

Some of them do appear to be "music snippet appears in this work", I think they need to be looked at. I originally thought that was what this thread was for.

Originally it's about the subpages that are namespaced Music/, but I took a second look at some point before I submitted the thread that quite a few main page entries may warrant a look since it amounted to "this snippet appears in works in this context" without naming examples.

There was a holler to close this thread because of the lack of feedback. There's a general lack of interest in this thread so I don't think using it as a batch thread is going to work.

So, I suppose we can close this thread and make individual threads for the music snippet instead of there aren't any objections.

I'd wait for a couple more opinions, including ~GrafVonTirol's, before closing. Lack of interest is a bad reason to close a thread, there being nothing left to discuss would be.

The only leftover questions are:

• Should we move other subtropes like Amazing Freaking Grace to StandardSnippet.Amazing Freaking Grace or they're all fine as-is.
• I'd like an opinion if "Subtropes and snippets" at Standard Snippet's description should be split in two accordingly or they're fine mixed like that.

I've been lurking, but I don't feel equipped to get involved because I don't know anything about music and these pages confuse me.

Fair enough, although I still don't think this will work as a batch thread. I can't help much because music isn't something I am knowledgeable about.

I think Amazing Grace could be fine where it is. Is there a reason why we have to move to that namespace?

As for the subtropes and snippets, I can't really tell the difference.

Some of the Main/ ones are not chairs or SS/ in theory (or could at least be repurposed with tighter meanings) and probably require more comprehensive checks.

I wouldn't be against closing this thread in favor of giving the individual pages separate threads to tackle them one at a time instead of via a batch thread.
