So No Way Home's Damage Control Guy is going to be an antagonist for the show, huh?
Disney100 Marathon | DreamWorks MarathonThe band is definitely more than just, like, a cool alien super-weapon. When she put on the band, there was that moment where she sort of... plunged into another reality or something. Something happened to her. It kind of looked like the Ancestral Plane from Black Panther.
So it's actually possible that the powers are hers, and not some kind of alien super-tech. She didn't cocoon up like an Inhuman, but we've only ever seen that in the non-canon Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and maybe that Inhumans show before? I don't know if the show actually showed us an Inhuman cocoon since I didn't watch it. But there's a possibility that they're going with the band activating Kamala's powers, rather than Kamala being a tech-based hero now.
Notably, Kamala's dialogue reflects this too. There's a weird moment where she describes what happened as, "I have powers." But if her abilities are tech-based, then that's like describing Iron Man's suit as "powers". So it feels a little off, unless we are meant to take away that Kamala's embiggening is a legit superpower.
There is a real possibility that, despite skipping the cocooning stage, Kamala remains the Marvel Universe's most beloved Inhuman. ...at least, I think she's most beloved. Let's be real, does anyone actually care about Black Bolt? Serious question.

Black Bolt can be somewhat cool when he's given a good writer and not being shoved into the mutant niche, but I wouldn't say people love him exactly like how Kamala is beloved.
If I were to guess, I'd say the Inhumans show will be considered completely noncanon or at least Broad Strokes going forward (not that anybody'll miss it), but they're still going to try and give the cast a second chance when it comes to any Inhuman stuff going forward.

Disney100 Marathon | DreamWorks MarathonI do kind of wonder if we lose something with the comics origin of Kamala sneaking out to go to an actual party being replaced with her going to a convention. Mostly because when she's finally at the party she also gets disillusioned with how the other (white) kids react to her because of it—she says at one point, "Zoe thought that because I snuck out, it was okay for her to make fun of my family. Like, Kamala's finally seen the light and kicked her dumb inferior brown people to the curb." I think that helped to show that Kamala was getting shit from both sides and gave it less of a "she must Escape the Shackles of her restrictive culture" feel. I dunno.
Heh, and my parents complain that I never tell them anything. Wonder why. (I had a pretty similar upbringing as Kamala and her parents really felt like how my parents were when I was growing up.)

When we're done, there won't be anything left.Black Bolt is pretty liked from a power level perspective. People wanna see his planet-destroyer sonic screams and how fucking big they can get.
Which is also why there's a decent amount of complaining whenever he gets worfed like other strong characters cause people wanna see his spectacular powers in action.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Ooh, that's true. Sorry, Kamala. Silver medal for you.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Its rather noticeable just how much Kamala clashes with the Inhumans general thing of being this secluded superhuman kingdom.
Especially since they have celestial origins so they commonly get involved in cosmic stuff like that one time the royal family conquered the Kree Empire and Black Bolt became Emperor of the Kree for a time.
Meanwhile Kamala's whole thing is yeah make sure the bodega across the street doesn't get gentrified or defeat the bad guy before her parents find out.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Well, that was fun.
But that giant Thor Hammer was pretty crazy. Like, I'm shocked whatshername is still ok after getting hit with it.
One Strip! One Strip!
Yeah it was a fun scene but I'm not sure if the physics work out. The density of the hammer would have to be low enough to not shatter every bone in her body, but still high enough to pick her up without loosing a lot of momentum. And I'm a little skeptical there is a possible density that can fulfill both of those criteria.

It is refreshing to see the show take the side of the parents for once in a story like this. Kamala was being unreasonable when they at least tried to meet her half-way. It wasn't necessarily perfect but it really comes down to her not accepting her culture. She fears the bigotry she faces in school will come to haunt her at the con, assuming the worst because it's been internalized that she'll never belong, for being the "brown girl from Jersey". I can tell you, I've been to plenty of cons. I've seen many make fun of folks who decide to dress up as an Indian Superman or a Mexican Deadpool.
You may understand her feelings but that fear is getting in the way of trusting her parents and her culture. I assume that will lead her into appreciating where she's from and get the Pakistani-inspired costume she famously wears in the comics.
Ohohohoho I just remembered that in the comics Zoe had a whole coming out thing, even crushing on Nakia.
Is this what the big thing at the end is leading up to? Zoe crushing on her mysterious savior and being Ms. Marvel's fangirl?
Oh that would be glorious.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Seeing the YMMV page, I'm betting that, much like Moon Knight, most of the entries about differences from the comics will be outdated now that the series started, seeing how it seems most of the Kamala's comics fans are mostly approving the series.
oh hey how are you doing?I think the power change is one of those things that's very obvious and thus easy to take note of in early previews, but ultimately what Kamala's precise powers are aren't really what makes Kamala Khan Kamala Khan.
So once you start watching the show or even just enough previews, most people will get over the power change pretty quick if they nail the rest of the character, which they did.
Slightly OT: I checked the main actress's Letterboxd account. How can someone who's seen so many classic art films still have a bad taste in cinema? I Don't Feel at Home in This World Anymore gets 2.5/5? Seriously?

I'm still feeling persnickety about the power changes but I can deal since they've clearly nailed her character and her brand of heroism. They even kept her establishing hero moment of her rescuing Zoe, which I appreciated since it shows something important about her that she's willing to rescue someone who's always been so awful to her.
When we're done, there won't be anything left. She did let the hammer hit Zoe, mind. She saved her on the second go-round. It's a good thing that hammer was made of styrofoam or something 'cause this was almost a Final Destination film.

If they go the Clothes Make the Superman route, I have no doubt that the bracelets will tie into the Ten Rings somehow. Kevin Fiege said something in an interview about how Kamala's power change was something that ties into an overarching plot in the MCU, so that seems like the most obvious connection.
However, they've also been very particular in all of the promotion, always saying something to the effect of "Kamala Khan discovers that she has superpowers", which makes it sound like it's a natural ability. I don't know if I'm reading too deep into this, but that strikes me as fishy.
