i don't think its particularly better or worse than gen 7 or 8.
the style has been pretty homogenized by this point, i think. i do miss the rougher aesthetics of Gens 1, 2, and even 3, but it's fairly safe to say that the style is gonna stick this way for good.
i don't think its bad at all. maybe a bit sanitized but not bad.

I agree, Obvious Beta doesn’t apply because the issues are mostly graphical and over after two seconds. Even the lag is fixed simply by closing and opening the game. Not that bad.

Have you never before supped upon Pined Cone?No this is very much a beta... The game was absolutely rushed to make the holidays and the multimedia machine. [1]

Oh btw there is a memory leak in the game, your performance will degrade over time. You need to close the game and relaunch, probably once every 3 hours or so.
This. I'm glad it went through TRS to make sure it feels significant. Tons of games feel "unfinished", but that's cause some stuff never made it due to rushes. However, that doesn't make them unplayable messes. It just means they could've been better by being delayed.
So yeah, it easily does not count. A ton of games release with various problems, but are very playable despite these.
Shadow?Did this TRS thread also result in a new trope being introduced to encapsulate how people actually use the trope on the wiki? If not, it hasn't really done its job, and it's going to continue to invite misuse until that happens.
It's very important not to force tropes to become more semantically rigid unless there is something placed in between to compensate. It wouldn't be so bad , but the nebulous use of the trope as "a work is released with a laundry list of bugs and shortcomings that should've been removed in beta" that the trope has been around for years and this is the first time I've ever heard that "it only counts if it is literally unplayable" is how its required to be used (especially since actual betas tend to not actually be unplayable. Obvious Alpha would be a better name for it, if that's the meaning they intend to push - Obvious Beta is actually rather misleading as a title).

It's about wiki usage for TRS. The fact people continue to not actually look at the tropes' rules and how it properly works really doesn't matter unless it affects the wiki anyway. Everybody has their own opinion on what counts. In this case, the only factor that matters is using it on the wiki, and it's incorrect usage by all means.
In fanspeak, yeah, it's a Beta by all means when released. On the wiki, it doesn't count. It's not the first nor the last time tons of tropes are used differently between the forum and wiki. Fan conversations aren't a big deal anyway.
Shadow? That's what I said. Obviously wiki usage is the actual important subject here.
People tend not to add tropes to pages while also looking at the tropes they're utilizing for clarification: the general user is more general than pedantic. Thus, it is important not to have both names that are misleading and to be aware that wiki usage tends to skew towards misuse if tropes are needlessly specific.
The fact that they didn't rename the trope to Obvious Alpha if that's how they wanted it to be used, especially, is rather striking. I'd reiterate that for how they want the trope to be used, Obvious Beta is a poor naming choice.

Your old wording was pretty confusing, cause I misread it as "confusing on the forums" only.
Anyway, pretty sure the confusion is barely there, because it's been far easier to cleanup now that we can't apply it to any game that is a bit unfinished.
But I could be off. It might need a cleanup thread.
Shadow?

I love the photos you get whenever you get a badge. They’re a lot of fun.
I recently beat Iono’s gym, and I think her trailers really grew on me, because I kept hearing them whenever she was saying stuff.
