The point is to lead people back to the disambig page if it's accidentally linked. Making it a more complex name defeats the point of having it at all.
But there's gonna be a clean-up effort anyway, right?
Of course.
The point is, if we aren't making Diary the disambig, we shouldn't make a disambig for the concept at all. There's zero point in having a disambig nobody would ever find organically (such as through inbound links or google searches).
I mean, scroll through Ambiguity Index for a moment. See how many of them are just one-word concepts, such as Wish and Orange.
We also have a cleanup thread for disambigs that keep getting use, and have been discussing ways to crack down on people using them, such as an icon for the index or even just a "don't do that" notifier.
Dear Diary,
It is always a good idea to make Diary a disambig page.
I agree with it. We should consider making Diary a disambiguation page for several tropes regarding diaries, and cutting the Zero-Context Examples and the People Sit on Chairs examples.
I have found this TLP. This seems to be more tropeworthy in regards to diaries.
And this for the "Dear Diary..." narration.

Regarding the discussion at the top of this page, what would be the point of renaming a disambiguation page? Disambiguating would mean we'd be removing all wicks except for Ambiguity Index and archived wicks anyway.
Also, the tropes that alnair linked to could be listed on the disambiguation page after they're launched.

Should we make a crowner now?
What was proposed besides disambiguating?
I think expanding Epistolary Novel?
I don't know if we need a crowner just because everyone seems to be in agreement. Mostly, anyway. Enough to have consensus.
Yeah, we have more than enough people in agreement to forgo a crowner.
So, calling in favor of disambiguating Diary and expanding Epistolary Novel to cover diaries.
Current diambig options:
- Apocalyptic Log
- Epistolary Novel
- Scrapbook Story
- Secret Diary
- …And That Little Girl Was Me maybe?
- I Should Write a Book About This maybe?
- Writing About Your Crime maybe?
- Diaries Are Girly
(When it launches)?
- Dear Diary
(When it launches)?
Epistolary Novel has this: "Later on, books evolved to start using other devices than just letters. This gave rise to the Scrapbook Story format, of which this can be considered a subtrope.", doesn't Scrapbook Story already cover the expansion idea then?
I tweaked Epistolary Novel's description a bit to account for the fact that documents other than letters can be used. I used Wikipedia's article on the subject as a reference for what types of Fictional Documents can be used. Here's the page history
.
I'll go disambiguate Diary if that hasn't been done already.
Edit: Done.

Everything's done here, so closing.
Can we find some other more complex phrase for the disambig page than "Diary"? A word like this just lends itself to further misuse in example lists.
