Its a Disney movie, they always do well due to the disney branding.
New theme music also a boxIt’s in Disney+ jail so it’s hard to tell.
Flippé de participer à ce grand souper, je veux juste m'occuper de taper mon propre tempo. It's in streaming so expectations are different.
Death is a companion. We should cherish Death as we cherish Life.I actually did the write-up for Turning Red's performance under its And You Thought It Would Fail entry.
The film, once again, took repeated its No.1 success against Netflix's The Adam Project and other television shows the following week, via the US Nielsen ratings.
Some bad faith internet users tend to use the film's limited release box office gross (15.5 mill), out of context, as proof of the film being a failure. In spite of some glaring holes like the film's direct to streaming move was announced months in advance, and the limited nature of its theatrical releases.

on the subject of why ppl liked mr enter pre 2020
short version is it can be cathardic to see some one rant and yell at crap and he was actually pretty good at it
oh he said LOTS of stupid things and showed he was ignorant even on shows he claims to love (he hated how metal bending in legend of korra worked even thoe ti was based on what was said in last airbender and for some reason he thought a avatar could only learn the next element in the cycle unable to do the others until finishing)
but when he was in his element it was good
then he went increasingly mask off on his political views and became increasingly toxic
So with the buzz over how Beijing is attempting to cut off American films particularly the MCU under the guise of censorship as an attempt to bolster their own film industry, I remember Zhao's video where they recited a story of how Kung Fu Panda was a hit in China, to the point top officials had meetings to discuss why hasn't China's film industry had something like Kung Fu Panda's success, and I can't recall the video exactly, but I remember them stating that the severe censorship by the Government had an adverse effect on the entertainment industry.
A question to Chinese tropers, has this been a talking point in media discussions?

I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult. That does explain what the hell happened to the Chinese animated film industry. It went from mostly garbage to stuff like Jiang Ziya and White Snake seemingly overnight.
Not Three Laws compliant.Accented Cinema's video on the history of Chinese animation is very much worth a watch and outlines the internal rise, fall, rise of animation in mainland China. And his video on general Chinese and government reception to Kung Fu Panda, but this doesn't really go in-depth on Chinese animation itself.
Actually maybe there should be a thread for Accented Cinema?

Speaking of China, there's apparently something with The Bad Guys. When it premiered in Friday it was a bomb, but word of mouth immediately picked its pace up that it's one of the leading films now there.
Death is a companion. We should cherish Death as we cherish Life.Huh that's interesting.
Word spread fast.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Yeah it was competing with a Chinese drama Stay With Me.
Death is a companion. We should cherish Death as we cherish Life.Xiran Jay Zhao was excluded from the Hugo Awards again, they’ve even been wondering if they can use “Excluded from the Hugo Awards” on their books going forward.
Also their next book won’t be out for awhile due to issues with their publisher. So take any dates saying when it’ll be released with a grain of salt.

Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession.I've taken an interest in cultivations tories and would want to ehr their opinions it along with certain gacha games that had dabbled in Chinese or china-coded settings like Arkngihts (Lungmen and Sui parts) and F/GO (SIN and Argatha, though I've a feeling they're not gonna like what they did to Wu Zetian in the latter)
BTW can someone link their the video of her using YGO as a medium to explain the French Revolution?
What exactly is a cultivation story?
The Spirit Cultivation Genre, basically. Though i phrased it as cultivation stories in general as some but not of the concepts there also pop up in Wuxia and some but not all Chinese fantasy settings.

Chinese webnovels are absolutely drowning in it. It's like the equivalent of isekai in Japan in terms of how pervasive it is.
Not Three Laws compliant. Why do they call the genre "cultivation"? The word just gives me the picture of some guy or gal doing gardening or growing flowers. Wouldn't "Empowerment" be a better word?
The idea is that you are cultivating your ki, much in the same way one would cultivate a tree.
Well from what I gathered, there are apparently three genres. Wuxia, Xianxia and Xuanhuan. The trope is question seems to refer to Xianxia specifically. As to why it's named that on the wiki (when Wuxia is named as such) I don't know.

Cultivation is the direct english translation of the Chinese word used for it.
The genre as a whole is a major influence on Shonen Fighting Series since Fist of the North Star at least.
wuxiaworld.com has a pretty good glossary on terms often found in Chinese Fantasy stories.

Watch SymphogearA collection of Xiren's videos discussing an indie author who sabataged other indie writers.
The sheer level of jealousy and pettiness of this author, I swear...
You can't kill art.So, in a Throw the Dog a Bone moment for Xiran after the 2023 Awards Snafu, they're getting nominated for Astounding Award for the Best New Science Fiction Writer at World Con Glasgow, which is usually where the Hugo Awards are hosted.
This makes me appreciate the Scots more for their transparency over such things.
You can't kill art.
Did the movie do well though?
It seems like the absurd criticisms would give this movie some free publicity.
