honestly, i like Shikimori more than Love After World Domination this season, their more grounded relationship is just so fun to watch
on a completely different note, it's hilarious that people still aren't over Executioner's first episode, the salt is so delicious

The salt is still going? And those are tend to be the same people who like to go "You're all just overly sensitive snowflakes. Don't read it if you can't handle "dark and mature" stories."
So, which direction the pendulum are swinging more this time? Isekai boi is innocent and don't deserve that fate? How is it possible or dare a girl kill isekai boi? Or a completely new direction? This is just hilarious. ![]()

I'm not as witty as I think I am. It's a scientifically-proven fact.Honestly I have my own criticisms for executioner: the exposition can be often clunky and the animation noticeably struggles to match the ambitions of the writing especially in action sequences. But it's the single-minded obsession with a character whose purpose was to be a sacrificial lamb for half an episode that some weirdos can't let go of, it's baffling.
I absolutely cannot help but adore handsome 2D boys Mid-Season Reactions:
Love All Play: Pretty shounen (read: typical) from the multiple instances of names on screen to the friends Ryou made along the way, but hey, it has some fluff too! And the badminton action is nice!
Aoashi: Also pretty shounen, but with much more rock!
SPY x FAMILY: Badass, lovely, fun for the family! Also yes, I grew to like Anya!

Mid-Season Reations: Gunjou no Fanfare
Pretty neat for a horse-riding anime! One thing I definitely liked from here is Shun, for he's best boi here IMO! Although, save for him and the fluff here and there, I don't find this to be particularly remarkable. Maybe the next half of the show would provide that...
speaking of being hated, where the fuck did all of the hatred for Shikimori come from?
though it had a lot of hype going into the season, but it's not like source reader were hiding the fact that it was 100% fluff

"It's overhyped boring garbage and the main lead is a beta cuck" - Standard MAL and CR comment
Reddit, ANN, and Anime-Planet all seem happy with it, but basically it being a comfy romcom iyashikei is why people seem to hate it. The anime apparently overplays some of Izumi's flaws and clumsiness and seems to have moved the info around so the stuff about him helping Shikimori study got moved back. Then again, these are the same kind of people who absolutely hated that the friend group worked to find out a good place to vacation to be more accodating to Izumi since they wanted him to feel included.

I am neutral to Shikimori, not my cup of tea, so I have not watched it. But most of my aquitnces who watched it dropped it specifically because it was compared to the recent popular romcoms like Sono Bisque, Takagi etc. but they found it pretty boring with weak male lead and unappealing heroine who was overhyped by the audience.
People hyped up Shikimori's best girl status last season which had a negative side effect in light of the best girl of the season being Marin. Bisque girl already faced HEAVY criticism and if anything that gets even slightly hyped isn't the second coming of Christ you can bet your ass people won't shut the fuck up about it
I absolutely cannot help but adore handsome 2D boysI've pretty much given up on the english speaking fandom, to be honest. It helps that I'm not part of the western fandom to begin with. Not that they don't have a bad side, but at least with the Japanese fandom, I don't have to keep hearing "mid", "cringe", etc. Or having to hear some dumbass harshly criticizing dialogues when they could barely speak Japanese.

Does Japan have equaivalent terms for "mid" or "Cringe"?
I know Kusoge is one for something bad.
Watch Symphogear
クソゲー (kusoge) is short for "kuso game" (shit game), obviously used for video game. イマイチ (imaichi) is a term usually used for mediocre work in general, but it's not overused as "mid" is, AFAIK. There's also 駄作 (dasaku) which is combination of "dame" (basically poor or shoddy) and "sakuhin" (work).

except I do speak Japanese and I still have a better experience with them. In fact, I've been following japanese twitter almost exclusively for the last 2-3 years. As long as I don't visit the place where the アンチ (Anti, japanese slang for hatedom) gathers, it's fine. I did got into some conflict a few time with Japanese antis and trolls in twitter and youtube, and yes, they're just as annoying as western trolls.
Following Japanese comments and reviews is how I increase my 語彙 and 俗語 and it's very useful. One thing's for sure, seeing people critizing dialogues which they actually understands instead of only through english subtitle, it's easier to digest for my brain cells

Netflix Reactions: Vampire in the Garden
If only I had working tear ducts because fuck me, my heart broke into pieces as I went through these 5 episodes! It doesn't help that I can see this through Rainbow Lens because 2 people, both of the same sex (though technically one vampire and one human), trying to live together in a world that doesn't want them to be together just hits my bisexual heart hard! And then, there's the tragic ending... I think I hurt my throat whilst screaming in pain...
As a massive football fan slowly getting into anime, Ao Ashi floored me in all the right ways. It really feels, if not outright realistic, absolutely plausible. Even the tropes used are very much grounded ones, and so far Aoi's story is not far from countless real-life players. Excited to see how it continues!
As a sidenote, it's come to my attention that the manga started in 2015, and later that year my own local side went to Japan to represent South America in the Cup World Cup, and the travelling fans were considered worldwide a high point of the tournament example
So I remain skeptical but hopeful that we may have inspired something later on!

Finally caught-up to the Shikimori anime and while I like it so far and the production value is pretty good, the manga is still superior to me. I really don't like the anime adding more scenes that make Izumi more clumsy. In the manga he's a better student than Shikimori and works hard to overcome his "unluckyness". In fact, as the series progress, he has somewhat become the unofficial leader in his circle of friends. I also prefer Izumi's "stronger" look compared to the anime. They also mess up the timeline since Shikimori and Izumi were 1st years in the beginning of the manga.
The manga is easily one of my top 5 manga amongst the ones I'm currently following and even owned all the original Japanese volumes. I also found the humor and dialogue much better in the manga (the original Japanese dialogue not translations). Liked it better than My Dress Up Darling. The other romcom manga that I liked just as much currently would be Kotoshi no Mitsuishi-san wa Dokoka Okashii and Boku no Kokoro ga Yabai Yatsu (BokuYabai). Still waiting for that BokuYabai anime
