To be fair that's kind of what I expected. Phase 4 MCU lore has been somewhat aimless for the most part, so the question becomes whether the experience itself justifies the gimmick.
And it sounds like this show will go through the typical problem of too much money and high-quality ingredients put in to fail outright, but nevertheless having a lot of its unique identity ground down by the Disney polish machine for the sake of wider audience appeal.

And another review. Also in the good, not great range but more praise for Isaac. Also a lot of reviews noting that this seems fairly disconnected from the MCU as a whole, but then I think its only the first 4 episodes reviewers have seen so that might change in the last 2.
"These 'no-nonsense' solutions of yours just don't hold water in a complex world of jet-powered apes and time travel."The reviews seem to generally be on the middle-of-the-road with half saying "it's too surreal" and others saying "it's not surreal enough". What's specially frustrating is that a lot of reviews add that episode four ends with a massive game-changer but no one has seen the last two to tell if that pays off.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."Part of what I'm finding frustrating with that is that it sounds like the story is all about "Steven" and I guess we finally start learning about Mark in those last two episodes.
And this is kind of my "inventing a guy to be mad at", but it doesn't seem like great Jewish representation to me if Mark isn't really characterized for much of the series (unless "Steven" is also Jewish?) and he's the Superpowered Evil Side.

The sense I'm getting is that neither of the two are a Superpowered Evil Side. Marc is just far more ruthless and violent while Steve is gentle and conflict avoidant. The Marc half of the equation (of being morally ambiguous and ruthless) is true to his comic self, at least.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."Uh, the fish/character feels comfortable in what seems like a safe haven but is actually deadly?

Agreed, a good start. Very effective at showing just how weird and confusing it is for Steven. The bad guy makes a strong first impression too.
Steven is quite charming in a milquetoast kind of way but needs to get some agency if he is not going to end up being irritating IMO - there's a risk he's just a little bit too gormlessly hapless for me.

"These 'no-nonsense' solutions of yours just don't hold water in a complex world of jet-powered apes and time travel."Wow what a great beggining, Oscar is killing it. Loved the episode and crazyness of all it, but given that they already confirm all the egiptian mythology as true in the first episode, it kinda lost the hook of it being real or just Steevn imagination.
Given today episode, that was an incredible spot on guess.

Well given that we know Norse mythology is "real" in the MCU I think trying to play it like this was just Steve's imagination would have come across as a failed attempt at The Un-Twist at best.

"These 'no-nonsense' solutions of yours just don't hold water in a complex world of jet-powered apes and time travel."Gotta wonder what Thor would think of what's going on here if he hadn't hauled ass with the Guardians. He might not actually know if Egyptian gods exist, but it wouldn't hurt to ask, right?
I thought the first episode was really cool. A genuinely neat mystery that plays with the Split Personality stuff really well, and both the hero(s) and villain are interesting characters. Curious where we're gonna go from here.
I do have one question in regards to the character page for Marc Spector / Steven Grant / Moon Knight / Mr. Knight. Shouldn't we like, separate those identities out, kinda like how Elliot Anderson's alters are on his character page for Mr. Robot? I know he doesn't have enough tropes to warrant him getting his own page, but I feel that trying to mash all the personas into one character folder is gonna get really messy going forward.

"I'm Mr. Blue, woah-woah-ooh..."One review implied that Marc turns into MK! Classic, whereas Steven becomes Mr Knight when they power up. Not sure if that's accurate though.

"These 'no-nonsense' solutions of yours just don't hold water in a complex world of jet-powered apes and time travel."My overall guess is that Marc has legitimate MPD and the Steven personality, which may of always been around to some extent, simply became much stronger as a result of his experiences with Konshu.
There's definitely some hints that Steven's life is kind of fake. For instance he keeps calling his "mother" and leaving messages, but he has yet to actually speak to her.
Yeah, I'm thinking that Marc was the original "real" personality but for some reason the alter Steven has ended up being in control more than usual.
For example there's the fact Steven has never managed to actually talk to his mother, where Marc clearly was in contact with Layla. There's also the fact that Harrow instantly recognised the body but identified it as a mercenary, i.e Marc. Plus Khonshu said "the idiot is back" suggesting his original dealings were also with Marc.

I mean, if you think about it hard enough no piece of entertainment has a reason to exist.
