They could feasibly do London Avengers given that Doctor Strange's order has a sanctum there.

I think there's actually a Marvel video game being made that's built around the Midnight Sons plot, or at least something like it.

I think they're more planting the seeds for a London-based Midnight Sons/Suns. Doctor Strange has the Sanctum Santorum there, Moon Knight is there, Black Knight is there and in the comics Blade has ties to London (he's in fact a London native, but I don't imagine he'll be played that way). It's a suspicious number of supernatural-based characters over at the UK.

[up] Blade sounded like he had a very American accent in The Stinger for Eternals. Think he'll be an instance of being born in the UK but having grown up in the U.S up until a certain point?

London being a supernatural haven would be interesting, given it also has some cosmic connections via Thor and the Eternals.

[up][up] Comics Blade did go down the route of being born in England but having spent much more of his life in America his views attitude etc (and presumably his accent) were much more American than British anyway.

[up] They also had Spitfire, who was a vampire (possibly tying into the mystic side of the MCU) and John the Skrull. But a Skrull who basically worships John Lennon seems like a concept the MCU could have fun with.

Yeah I think they might go for a Truer to the Text version of Blade who was born in London but grew up in the US.

In that case, it would make sense as to how Eric would appear before Dane at the end of Eternals.

Funny little bit that literally tells us nothing new but I like that Marvel at least seems able to poke a bit of fun at itself.

Also a little hint at Werewolf-by-Night which is probably just an in-joke...

Oh, I've heard very bad things about how Wonder Woman 1984 handles Middle Eastern representation.

“In my pitch, there was a big part about Egypt, and how inauthentically it has been portrayed throughout Hollywood’s history,” Diab sold SFX magazin. “It’s always exotic – we call it orientalism. It dehumanizes us. We are always naked, we are always sexy, we are always bad, we are always over the top.”

“You never see Cairo. You always see Jordan shot for Cairo, Morocco shot for Cairo, sometimes Spain shot for Cairo. This really angers us,” Diab says. “I remember seeing Wonder Woman 1984 and there was a big sequence in Egypt, and it was a disgrace for us. You had a sheik – that doesn’t make any sense to us. Egypt looked like a country from the Middle Ages. It looked like the desert.”

Damn, those are some hard-hitting words here. Looks like Diab has been reading his Said.

It is really nice how Marvel is working with directors who want to really change how people perceive other cultures. Like with Black Panther and Shang-Chi, it helps that Mohamed Diab is Egyptian, and cares about how his country is portrayed.

I think they're still in the 'kinda trying as a whole and some creators obviously care more than others resulting in what can charitably be described as hit or miss' stage.

Black Widow's portrayal of Russian's was rather unimpressive, not helped that barring one character they were all portrayed by American's doing a Russian accent.

I'll at least give them credit for trying to have Russian accents, rather than Not Even Bothering with the Accent like Scarlett Johansson.

I get that Marvel isn't perfect, and like Synchronity said, it's pretty hit-or-miss. But I do like that we got a guy who knows what Egypt is actually like and wants to make efforts to portray it well for this series.

Scarlett Johansson's case is less weird I think, because she's supposed to be a master spy. There's no reason for her to speak with a russian accent. This technically goes for her entire family, although you can wrangle a explanation for Alexei (having spent decades in jail his english presumably atrophyed). Everyone else having thick russian accents is odd for deep undercover spies.

I think Natasha not having an accent is more because by the time we first meet her in Iron Man 2, she's been an American agent for quite some time, so her accent has faded. The Fury's Big Week comic actually shows that she apprehended Samuel Sterns shortly after the events of The Incredible Hulk and his newly-mutated Leader intelligence was able to pick up faint traces of her natural accent.

First reviews coming in, seem to be positive. Definitely going all in on the weird but apparently pulling it off and strong work from Isaac and Hawke.

I suspect overall it will be a show that people either really like or don't get at all with not a lot in between.
