Well, you're taking missions from corporations to quash the local Liberation Front. You're also constantly bouncing between employers, taking jobs from one while acting against them on your next.
Amoral, for sure, but bothing too bad so far. There doesn't seem to be much in the way of civilians on Rubicon to commit warcrimes against... oddly enough. Just a whole bunch of groups, most of 'em assholes, taking military action against each other, and you're getting paid by all of them. But I don't think I'm even halfway through the main story, so maybe I just haven't yet reached the juicy bits.

Quad legs are a fairly solid choice for both Balteus and Sea Spider. They seem slower than bipedals or reverse joints on paper, but those bosses' most dangerous attacks (bazooka and flamethrower for Balteus, lasers and double ground stab for Sea Spider) feel much more easily avoidable while airborne.

One day, we will read his name in the news and cheer.I barely know about Armored Core lore, but man, has the mecha customizing gone wild this time or what?
Because if you honestly want mecha that look like Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo, someone went and did two
of that!
Incidentally, if AC6 actually brings mecha games back (and I think it has?), I'd kill for someone to bring back Zone of the Enders. (*snorts some copium because he knows that won't happen*)
if we're sharing wild and crazy AC designs, Here is one where they weaponized a Gamecube
Ironacly this is one of the entries with the fewest options to customize your mecha, its just we have a lot of creative new people.
The 1.5 version that we have always traditionaly got, and that I am sure hoping they continue with DLC this time has always had the vast majority of parts.
The release version perfects the gameplay, the expansion pack adds all the parts....
Including my personal babies who I am missing quite a lot at the moment.... weapon arms.
Bipedal and reverse joints are also highly viable against the Cleaner since they've got a faster climb rate than tetrapod legs. Just hang out in front of it, dump heavy weaponry into its forward vent, and jump way up high whenever it looks like it's about to take a swing at you. For tankies, I guess you employ the same strategy with way heavier weaponry to compensate for your poor aerial performance.

What's precedent ever done for us?Polygon has a collection of even whackier custom mech designs.
My favorite has gotta be the farming equipment paint-jobs. And don’t miss out on the greeble/detailing designs, it’s a helpful collection to have the download codes for if you’re trying to go for a specific appearance.
Anyone else didn't expect Bonewheel Skeletons to make an appearance at the end of Chapter 4
One day, we will read his name in the news and cheer.Fuckin' hell Balteus took forever to kill. I think I must have spent like two hours just restarting with him. Even had to redo the whole thing just so I could buy the dubstep gun to more easily whittle down his shield. Getting this mission to S-rank is going to be a massive pain in the hole.

Hitokiri in the streets, daishouri in the sheets.
Oh, don't worry about that. He becomes a lot easier with endgame gear. It's very therapeutic.
I just finished my second run through the game. Glad they actually added some additional missions to New Game+ to give your endgame assembly a proper challenge. Taking on Volta and Iguazu together turned out to be a real pain.
Not so glad I still can't find an assembly that works about as good as double Zimmerman, though. Fiddling with builds becomes a lot less fun when there's an obviously correct answer.

Left hand melee weapon and left shoulder melee weapon combo is a Game-Breaker for a reason. The Laser Lance has great tracking, lunge range and immediately staggers all but the toughest bosses, giving you enough time to swap to a Pile Bunker (or better yet, a the freaking Double Trouble) and follow up with another melee weapon hit, provided the target doesn't quickly recover (as is the case with several AC boss fights where the AI literally cheats itself out of stagger).

"They played us like a DAMN FIDDLE!" — Kazuhira Miller, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom PainI just got to Balteus last night, and now I see what everybody's saying about him. Feels like it's impossible to evade some of his attacks, especially in the second phase when he whips out the flamethrower and missile spam simultaneously. And to think, an S-rank requires you to do the whole mission in a single run with no checkpoints or deaths, AND on a time limit...?
Kinda has me worried I'll eventually run into a proverbial "wall" of a boss that'll halt my progression and eventually kill my interest entirely.
Balteus wants you to assault boost through his missile barrages (one disadvantage of Death by a Thousand Cuts is that a mere dozen cuts just won't do much) and keep your distance for his flamethrower combo. Apart from that, just keep up constant pressure. One interesting wrinkle is that while bosses with pulse shields can resummon them once they're depleted, they can't regenerate them while they're active, giving you a bit more freedom in how you space out your attacks and prepare your positioning to take advantage of post-shield break stagger.
What's precedent ever done for us?Some mad-lad figured out a build to beat the game... using only the mech fists. And strangely enough, it's surprisingly effective whenever pitted against most enemy AC's, and even Balteus!
It struggles against the larger bosses though, and the Ice Worm is the one big exception in the fist-only run due to the mission requiring you to use a special weapon to break the boss's pulse shield.
You can even forgo using the anti-Ice Worm weapon, though this means that it'll take you a very long time to take down the primary shield, something that's very difficult with fists only given the Ice Worm constantly moves around. Plus, Michigan will chew you out for ruining his field trip.

There's something so satisfying about boost kick, point blank Songbird, and a pulse blade against an enemy mech.
Mostly the point blank Songbird.
Burning love!
