I really didn't know they weren't supposed to continue from each other. I guess what happened is that the current format made sense and nobody really bothered to try your idea as it may be a bit confusing. If I'm correct, the Playing With Wiki's purpose is to give examples of different forms of a trope and help you understand and differentiate them.
How did you know they weren't supposed to continue from each other? Can you provide some form of proof or something?
Troper Wall, sandbox, and I'm trying to kill typos. It's the definition of Reconstruction.
That being said, I'm not sure I agree with the suggested reconstruction of the given deconstruction, and this probably points to part of the reason why people have been using deconstructions and reconstructions the way they have on Playing With pages. As I understand it, a reconstruction is supposed to take the critique given by the deconstruction into account, and present a response that shows how you can still get the value of a straight example of the trope with it, or perhaps identify something the deconstruction is missing. "Bob manages to avoid consequences entirely" is not a reconstruction of "Bob faces consequences for his behavior"; a reconstruction needs to either show why Bob would avoid consequences, or have Bob face consequences without completely nullifying the force of the trope, if that makes sense.
Here's an example
- Deconstructed: Joe dives into the coins... And falls flat on his face onto metal. Ouch.
- Reconstructed:
- If Joe should have lasting injuries, he can always use some of the gold to pay for his treatment.
- Joe only injured himself because he wasn't using the right swimming technique.
- Joe slowly dips into the gold as if he were entering the shallow end of the pool. When he gets deep enough, he uses his gold hoard as a means of swimming exercise, given that his gold pool would provide a greater challenge than a regular one.
The first two reconstructions come after the fact, after hurting himself. In the third one, he does not get hurt at all, while playing the idea of coin swimming straight.
The first two examples seem more like misuse of Reconstructed. I can see where you're going.

One of the biggest assumptions people make on Playing With Wiki is assuming that Reconstruction is continued from Deconstruction.
The Reconstruction is supposed to be an entirely different story then the Deconstruction. If the Deconstruction is "Bob faces consequences for his behavior" the Reconstruction is not "but things get better" it is "he manages to avoid the consequences entirely".
A suggestion I have is to make Decon/Recon switch a Playing With item to salvage the misuse.
