Yeah, does seem like a forgone conclusion, but we still have a few hours left.
I'm still not entirely sure what your issue is, Septimus. Your posts are getting a bit vague.
Calling in favor of moving the Mohs scales to the SlidingScale/ namespace.
Pages moved and indexed on SlidingScale.Home Page.
Here are the wicks:
- Rock and Metal
- Lyrical
- Science Fiction
(plus its redirects, Sci-Fi Hardness
and Hard Science Fiction
)
- Violence
Edit: Added to TRS Wick Cleaning.

Why would you want to have three pages in two different namespaces discussing the same concepts?
Because one's a game about sorting works into categories and the other is an informative page talking about the information in more depth. Sort of like the difference between a trope page and a useful notes page / analysis page on the same subject. I just don't find it all that redundant if the two pages (two, not three in this case) would serve different functions and discuss the topic with a different amount of depth and seriousness.
I've also no clue what you mean by "wrong namespace". Nobody's talking about sending it to JFF anymore if that's what you're getting at.
SlidingScale is a problem namespace. Back in the day when it was created, we had serious problems with these pages being meaningless distinctions that attracted shoehorning and bickering.
The idea of having two different writeups and pages with different scopes here sounds like a total afterthought to me, honestly. This is why I am so sceptical - it just sounds like the sort of thing that people come up to retroactively justify a move of debatable merits.
Lyrical Hardness has now been thoroughly dewicked. That was the easy part given the wick count and the Rock and Metal Hardness entries I also take down along the way.
I'm a little disappointed that we lose the name "Mohs Scale of Rock and Metal Hardness" because I think it was a really witty name (the real life Mohs scale is actually applied to minerals such as rocks and metals, so I found it funny that we applied it to rock and metal music).
EDIT:Oh, I misunderstood the situation. So we don't actually lose the name, we just dewick it due to the namespace move?

Yes, it's not supposed to be used as a trope.
Yeah, we're not changing the names. We're just changing the namespace from Main/ to SlidingScale/, since they're Sliding Scales and not tropes.

Can someone move over Fackler Scale of FPS Realism as well?
That would require a new thread. This thread is only for the Mohs scales.

Whew! At last, Rock and Metal has been dewicked. The ones remaining are a ghost wick, a project-related wick and five from pages being cutlisted.

Violence done too
Where is the Sliding Scale list that all the removed examples are being placed on?

- Mohs Scale of Lyrical Hardness
- Mohs Scale of Rock and Metal Hardness
- Mohs Scale of Science Fiction Hardness
- Mohs Scale of Violence Hardness
Here (If that's what you mean?)

I installed a search-and-replace browser plugin and set it to replace "MohsScaleOf" with "SlidingScale/MohsScaleOf". Though once I get to the work pages, I'll have to actually check whether it's being used as an actual trope.

So we're not allowed to link to it or mention it at all on any of the pages, then?
Were we ever allowed to?
Serious question. This was never actually a trope AFAIK, so IDK if we were ever supposed to crosswick it in the first place. I could be wrong though.
Not just crosswick it, but link to or otherwise mention it in other examples.
I thought it was a trope, at least in type-only, and we've decided that no it shouldn't be a trope type or to be listed.
Mmm, but I've seen people going through and removing any and all links to the Mohs Scale of Science Fiction Hardness page, for example, not just those listed as tropes.
That strikes me as overkill.

I do believe there's gotta be a trope or index for science fiction works that opt for a more grounded approach (the higher end of the hardness scale), even making Hard Science Fiction into its own page as opposed to a redirect. Perhaps making the subpages within Mohs into their own trope pages?
Anyways, all wicks taken care of. The wicks on writing guides and a fair number of JFF pages should be fine.
For those interested, the wick list has been preserved for reference for quite a while.

Crown Description:
Should the Mohs Scales (Mohs Scale Of Rock And Metal Hardness, Mohs Scale Of Lyrical Hardness, Mohs Scale Of Science Fiction Hardness, and Mohs Scale Of Violence Hardness) be moved to the SlidingScale/ namespace?
It's been pretty close to 3 days and it's unanimous, 30-0. I think it might be safe to call.
