Fan Nickname is a nickname given by viewers to a character or thing. It is currently Trivia but should be YMMV, since it is a reaction by the audience.

Fan Nick Wick Check shows 108 wicks checked, though I didn't know how to categorize them other than put in an Audience Reaction folder.

    Audience reaction
  1. Anime.Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny: The Unreveal: We never learn whether the Asuka family was killed by a stray shot from Kira, the Druggies, or something else entirely.
  2. ArchEnemy.Web Original: M. Night Shyamalan (or ShyamAmon) became one for the Critic post-uncancellation, having been the evil mastermind behind three separate reviews.
  3. Awesome.Transformers Prime: There's a reason the fans call him "Slendercon".
  4. BadassNormal.Anime And Manga
    • The rest of the Inner Senshi also became this trope for a brief period during the Filler Arc of Sailor Moon R. Sailor Moon got her powers and memories reawakened in the first episode, but the other four Senshi still just think they're normal girls, because Luna and Sailor Moon wanted them to be able to live normal lives. When the Monster of the Week shows up, they jump into the fight without any powers or knowledge of their nature. And while they aren't perfect, they do better than the solo Usagi.
    • Look further and you'll find Ramba Ral and his Earth-bound expy Norris Packard, who will show the difference between a merely good pilot and an Ace Pilot, and they won't be doing them in Zakus. Then there are Kou Uraki and Anavel Gato, from a Newtype-less show, they show off the power of growth and Character Development, and of nukes. The Universal Century is teeming with awesome normal guys, to the point where even the faceless red shirts get a representative in Gundam Unicorn, the Londo Bell veteran known only as Godspeed (technically two, if you count ex-Titans veteran Robin Diez/Kobe Byarlant, whose name and face are only revealed in a side-story manga).
  5. Characters.ARK Survival Evolved: Fan Nickname: "Thumbs-Up-a-Saurus" and variations.
  6. Characters.Baldurs Gate Other Party Members Fan Nickname: The Machine Gun, for his exceptional archery skills.
  7. Characters.Dissidia Final Fantasy Warriors Of Cosmos I To VI: Cannot Talk to Women: Firion is extremely inept when dealing with women, as seen from his encounter quotes, and his original game is particularly famous for a scene that earned him the Fan Nickname "Virgin". In Dissidia 012, he even gets a Ship Tease with Lightning when she found his wild rose and he spends some time avoiding asking for it back from her because he is too shy.
  8. Characters.Friday Night Lights: Fan Nickname: Mrs. Coach, after a gloriously awkward encounter onscreen involving her and Matt Saracen.
  9. Characters.Knots Landing: Fan Nickname: "Poor Val".
  10. Characters.Puyo Puyo Compile Recurring: Fan Nickname: Doppel, as an Affectionate Nickname.
  11. Characters.Survivor All Stars: Ascended Fangirl: Actually uses the term "Pagonged" on-camera to describe what happened to Mogo Mogo, and early on showed reluctance to vote out Richard Hatch "because he's the king" and it would be no fun to get rid of him early.
  12. Characters. The Division 2: Fan Nickname: Their logo - and the absence of any other lore for them - has led some groups to dub them "the Unchained".
  13. Characters.Vikings Norsemen: Fan Nickname: Earl Siegfried the Troll
  14. Characters.X 23 Rogues Gallery: In the Hood: Perhaps her most prominent feature is the hood masking her features, to the point that fans have outright taken to calling her some variation on "Hooded Lady."
  15. Charlie Brown from Outta Town: Which has an added bit of trope, ol' Webhead was able to fight two of Wolverine's rogues, Roughouse the half-Troll and pseudo vampire Bloodscream, whilst changing outfits in between attacks, making them think they were fighting all four.
  16. ComicBook.Sinister War: Boomerang's Sinister Several: Boomerang, Hydro-Man, Shocker, Overdrive and Speed Demon.
  17. ContinuityNod.Anime And Manga: During the flashbacks that Jin Himuro had of back when he was a pro had a list of names which were actually taken from the manga of the Season Zero arc. In an easier example, the name of Yusei's new inmate roommate before he was due to fight Akutsu is Shugo Aoyama, the name of the character the Yu Gi Oh movie revolved around. (You know, the one that was never released outside Japan?) And of course, Tetsu Ushio, the first baddie to taste the sadistic Penalty Game in the manga is now one of the core secondary characters in 5Ds.
  18. Creator.Derek Stephen Prince: Derek Stephen "Steve" Prince (born February 5, 1969 in Inglewood, California) has been around the dubbing business for a while. His first big role was the voice of both Veemon and Ken Ichijouji in Digimon Adventure 02. Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann fans will recognize him as fan favorite Attenborough "Beamspam McMuppet" Cortitch. His voice ranges from very high pitched to low and emotionless. He is usually casted as the cute young boy or the Scary Shiny Glasses nerd.
  19. Creator.Jun Fukuyama: A popular Fan Nickname for him was "Mr. Cellphone Spoiler", on account of him using his cell phone to access 2ch and posting Code Geass spoilers "anonymously".
  20. DeadpanSnarker.Comic Books: Spider-Man, to the point of deserving to have the trope named after him. Though really, he spends a lot of time in incredibly-energetic-snarker mode too. At one point, this embodied him so much, a lot of people used to call them "Spider-zingers". His snarkiness is well known even in-universe. In an issue of Excalibur, the members of the Wrecking Crew briefly mentioned Spider-Man's name, eliciting a "I hate Spider-Man" from one of the members. The response: "Everyone hates Spider-Man." In the Secret War miniseries, Spidey met Black Widow out of costume and made a quick joke. Widow suddenly realized who she was speaking with.
  21. Deus ex Nukina: Apparently a favorite trope of Capt. Sheridan (Fan Nickname "Nuke'em Johnny") on Babylon 5, who solved his problems with nukes on multiple occasions:
  22. ElGoonishShive.Tropes S To Z: Trapped on the Astral Plane: Magus is actually from another universe altogether, but a spell gone wrong caused him to end up in the spirit plane of the "main" Gooniverse, which is also inhabited by immortals.
  23. Facepalm Of Doom: Now, M. Bison/Vega/Dictator does it as his 2nd Ultra, right before he gives you "The Psycho Abortion".
  24. FanNickname.Web Original: Ink himself is a Fan Nickname for the lead zombie, who is covered in tattoos and wears a blue, pin-striped suit. Most fans assume him to be Bill Roberts (whose nickname was Ink).
  25. FireEmblemAwakening.Tropes M To R: Lancefaire, a skill that improves strength when using a lance (or magic when using a Shockstick) by 5, is not only from a female-exclusive class (Falcon Knight), but that class is part of the same class set as Dark Flier, meaning that any male child who could inherit Lancefaire could also inherit Galeforce. And since male children can only inherit one skill from their mother, and since Galeforce is arguably the most powerful skill in the entire game, Lancefaire is never the best skill to pass down to a male child. Thus, the only units who can reasonably get Lancefaire (and thus specialize in lances) are female units who can get both Galeforce and Lancefaire without their mother's help. The exception is a male Morgan, who can inherit Galeforce from one of the Galeboys and Lancefaire from the Avatar (or technically vice versa, but that defeats the point).
  26. Flying Dutchman: This tends to happen to victims of the Slender Man, usually with said victims becoming Runners, people who were forced to leave their home and, well, run from the Slender Man.note  It's so common it's an entire category of slenderblogs.
  27. Foreign Wrestling Heel: But don't get the wrong idea, "Zenjo" wasn't the only promotion that relied on evil foreigners for a decade. All Japan had a notoriously shallow roster, the 1990s being largely summed up as "the four pillars" (Toshiaki Kawada, Mitsuharu Misawa, Kenta Kobashi and Akira Taue) fight gaijins while other native stars like Jun Akiyama fail to break into the main event.
  28. FridgeBrilliance. My Little Pony Friendship Is Magic Season 4: That may give an impression that Princess Trollestia strikes again, but if The Journal of the Two Sisters is anything to go by, most of the amusement stuff has been designed by Luna herself. Hence, if Celestia had anything to do with this, she likely just went to town on building her sister's contraptions (or having them built).
  29. Funny.Ashes Of The Past: This and the scene beforehand were inspired by fans - needless to say, the rise of Hug Shoggoth was taken rather well.
  30. Funny.Vinesauce Joel Mods: During FREEDOM FUCKER's first real flight with the cocket, it ends up facing the sky, prompting Joel to try shooting down God. Then FREEDOM FUCKER runs out of fuel, entreating us to the sight of a phallic robot falling to Earth with its special something facing the ground.
  31. GambitRoulette.Live Action TV: Flocke predicts that Widmore would rig the plane to explode so he could take the explosives and put them in Jack's bag, and that Sawyer would prevent Flocke from getting on the submarine, AND that the people trapped on the submarine would attempt to disarm the bomb (since Flocke himself apparently can't directly kill these particular characters). Plus, they only find the bomb because Kate is shot getting onto the submarine, so he would have been screwed if they managed to do it with no casualties. The plan did not end up panning out perfectly, though.
  32. GoodAngelBadAngel.Live Action TV: Battlestar Galactica's Six and Baltar. Each sees a spectral version of the other (known to fans as "Head Six" and "Head Baltar") right up until the final episode when both doubles appear together for the first time. Although Six is described as the "angel", she spends much of her time just messing with Baltar, and while Baltar is alluded to be a "devil" figure, he actually saves Six's ass a few times.
  33. Heartwarming.Justice League: Even more heartwarming if we consider how antagonistic Waller has been in JLU Cadmus arc, in a Well-Intentioned Extremist grudge against the League. The way she, after the fight against Brainthor, came to be respectful to the League (even trying to demote Eiling from his extremism in "Patriot Act") and genuinely admire Batman is really heartwarming.
  34. Hero of Another Story: The entire Mane Six gets to enjoy being this in the Lower-Deck Episode "Slice of Life". They're busy duking it out with a Bugbear (a literal half-bug half-bear), but the episode focuses entirely on Cranky and Matilda's wedding and the background ponies who are making it happen.
  35. HoYay.Granblue Fantasy: While not as blatant as the other "gayngel" examples, there’s some subtle teases between Sariel and Belial due to Belial’s Pet the Dog moments toward Sariel in 000, Sariel’s Undying Loyalty toward Belial and Sariel stating that he received a black feather from an unknown sender in his valentines return gift message, presumed to be from Belial himself.
  36. Hummer Dinger: The Hummers of Justice that were Horatio and company's signature vehicles on CSI: Miami. (The other two use SUVs, but slightly smaller and less glaring than the Hummers: Chevy Tahoes and GMC Denalis on CSI, and Chevy Avalanches on CSI: NY.)
  37. InformedAbility.Anime And Manga: There is, however, immense variance in size and power among Sea Kings. One arc has appearances by Sea Kings like Stripey who are bigger than good-sized islands; Lord of the Coast is probably about the size of one of their teeth. These uber-Sea Kings also, unlike previous smaller ones, demonstrate human-level intelligence.
  38. I Was Just Passing Through: After the Time Skip in Claymore, the Seven Ghosts will inevitably declare this whenever they assist other Claymores, claiming that they were not trying to help their former comrades, and the monsters were just in their way.
  39. Kung-Fu Sonic Boom: Rebuild of Evangelion 2.0 has this two times, both performed by Unit 02: first against Clockliel then against Zeruel. Both were caused by Unit 02 freefalling onto and impacting the relevant Angel's AT-Field, causing a shockwave powerful enough to kick up dust kilometers away. It reminds you of a certain part of string theory.
  40. LightNovel. The Rising Of The Shield Hero: Ascended Meme: Or rather ascended Fan Nickname. In the dub, during their first confrontation after the False Rape Accusation, the Weapons Dealer actually calls Naofumi "Shield Bro".
  41. Meat Versus Veggies: Avatar: The Last Airbender has a minor moment of this, when the Gaang arrives to the Fire Nation: Sokka is overjoyed to eat meat at last, while Aang gets a little sick thinking about eating meat, and decides to stick with the veggies. In general, the Water Nation had meat as a major part of their diet (being from a part of the world where food was scarce), and the Air Nation was a vegetarian society being a race full of Friends To All Living Things (doubly so for Aang, being the Avatar). But since the Gaang are True Companions, Aang, Katara, and Sokka get along fine.
  42. Memes.Metroid Dread: Flappy Birdnote
  43. Nasty Party: Later in the same book, Lady Olenna Redwyne (probably, the culprit is not explicit) murders Joffrey at his own wedding, framing Tyrion for the act. She was motivated as Joffrey was a Sadistic King who was marrying her granddaughter and his death means his kinder and weaker-willed brother Tommen succeeds. Fans have nicknamed this "The Purple Wedding".
  44. NegimaMagisterNegiMagi.Tropes S To U: This Is Something He's Got to Do Himself: As of Chapter 285, this seems to be Fake Eva-chin's preferred method of dealing with Negi's Superpowered Evil Side.
  45. OvershadowedByAwesome.Western Animation: Both the guards and the Wonderbolts, as compared to the likes of the Mane 6 and the princesses. When the chips are down and a major threat like a season premiere/finale level appears they tend to get their technicolor little butts handed to them in seconds.
  46. Pantheon.Reveals And Twists: Z-ONE, God of False Foreshadowing (Almighty Ruler of the Infinite World, God of Destiny, The Divine One/The Ancient One, Robo-Shrimp, "Yusei Fudo", Best Yusei Cosplayer, Random Hobo Z-One)
  47. PapaWolf.Live Action TV: Davos Seaworth is this to pretty much every young character he comes across, particularly Shireen Baratheon. He very nearly kills Melisandre then and there when he finds out she had Shireen burned at the stake. His Fan Nickname is even "Dadvos."
  48. Plenty of Blondes: Of Street Fighter V's cast - 32 characters strong at time of writing - a whopping 13 of them, almost half, are blondes: Ken, Guile, Cammy, Charlie Nash, Alex, Cody, Vega, Birdie, R. Mika, Karin, Kolin, Ed and Falke. It's worth pointing out that Karin and R. Mika are both full-blooded Japanese despite having blonde hair and blue eyes (though in Mika's case it could be assumed she simply dyes her hair and wears contact lenses, given her flamboyant puroresunote  gimmick; Karin has no such excuse, however) and the Spanish Vega flip-flops between being blonde and brunette from game to game. There's even been some backlash from the fanbase over the overabundance of blondes, with the game being dubbed Blonde Fighter V.
  49. Recap.Star Trek S 3 E 1 Spocks Brain: The Fan Nickname for this episode is "The One with Spock's Brain".
  50. Recurring Extra
    • The "Yuppie Couple" (whose real names are Margot Yale and Breandan Quarters) have moved out of the background and have become involved in the greater story, making them no longer an example of the trope named for them. In the four-part episode "City of Stone" a pair of statues that looked like them were smashed by Demona, prompting fan outcry about killing them. Word of God says that the statues were two other identical people who were not this couple, and the couple has gained larger roles in the comics — the woman being the DA representative on the Gargoyles Task Force, and the man bringing a doctor to help save the life of the mortally wounded Goliath. The couple in question even appeared, albeit with swapped names (Brenda and Marco), in another Disney action series, W.I.T.C.H., but only as a one time, not recurring (Greg Weisman worked on both shows).
    • One of Iva's okama squad, whose bunny ears and flowing mustache earned him the Fan Nickname of "Bunnystache."
    • In the first two seasons of Wizards of Waverly Place, Amanda Tepe portrayed various oneshot characters, earning her the Fan Nickname "The Monotone Lady".
  51. Roleplay.Fate Nuovo Guerra: Angra Black Mainyu - That black and red Bed Sheet Ghost-like Avenger avatar from Heaven's Feel acts like one. Probably a reference to his Fan Nickname "Angry Manjew".
  52. Series. As The World Turns: His Fan Nickname is Dr. House for a reason, though ironically he's more comparable to Scrubs's Dr. Cox.
  53. ShoutOut.The King Of Fighters: Clone Zero is a living shout out to Han the Rasho from the Shura saga. His infamous Zero Fart special resembles a method of how Han dispatched a mook in the series. Some of his other special moves are named after techniques used by the Shura Generals in Fist of the North Star.
  54. Spin Attack: Suzaku was given the Fan Nickname of "Spinzaku" for the sheer amount of spinnery he pulls off throughout the series. The most egregious example is his flying twenty feet across the room to deliver a spinning kick, then falling short and delivering a punch instead.
  55. StarfishAliens.Video Games: Owing to the amazing procedural generation of Spore, a good deal of the species you create or encounter can be this. The most famous Spore creature, the Willosaur, is a tripodal reptile/dinosaur-thing with three eyes and a prehensile tail. And that's one of the more normal creatures you'll find.
  56. StarMakingRole.Live Action TV: Julia Sawalha in Absolutely Fabulous. She'd previously had a public profile as Lynda Day on Press Gang, but AbFab was the show that gave her name recognition beyond the children's TV arena.
  57. TheAtoner.Marvel Universe: Iron Man: Tony Stark, ever since he was kidnapped in Vietghanistan. Thanks to Survivor Guilt and Major Depressive Disorder, along with a ton of other traumatic events since then, he is also a Death Seeker. More so since Civil War, but generally people who like the character pretend it didn't happen.
  58. The Un-Smile: Äs Nödt's horrifying un-smile, coming after (s?)he steals Byakuya's Bankai. It's next to no wonder that their Fan Nickname is "As Troll"
  59. Trivia.A Song Of Ice And Fire:
    • "Planetos" is a popular nickname for the setting's planet, after GRRM's somewhat unoriginal naming conventions (Westeros in the west, Essos in the east, Sothoryos in the south, et cetera). David J. Peterson, the language developer for the TV show, also came up with "Terros" when he wondered if there was a name for the world (he also gave the options of Gayos or Earthos). Interestingly, the actual canon name for the world of ASOIAF is "the world" or (uncapitalized) "earth" or even "this world of ice and fire".
    • "Raven Email" or "E-ravens" (also adopted by viewers of Game of Thrones), in reference to the oddly fast and reliable method of communication via carrier-raven. Similarly, the use of weirwood trees to see the past and present is often referred to as the "Weirwood internet", the "weirwood wide web" or "weirwood.net" (and more advanced Greenseer abilities are naturally the "weirless internet"). An alternative fanmade name for the "Weirwood internet" is the "Tree Matrix", since Greenseers have to literally plug themselves in.
    • Robert Baratheon has become "Bobby B".
    • Littlefinger is frequently abbreviated to simply "LF". Or people call him "Pedofinger", "Creepfinger", "Lord Twatbeard", and "Middlefinger". There's also "Littlefucker" given how he "fucks" everyone else over (and his creepy relationships with Catelyn, Lysa and Sansa...)
    • "Jon Stu", which is often used by detractors of Jon Snow for his such qualities and how well things seem to go for him in comparison to most people in this series.
    • Catelyn's arrest of Tyrion in the first book is referred to as "the Catnapping" or "the dwarfnapping".
    • Character that get brought Back from the Dead get "Un" placed in front of their name, like "UnBeric" for Beric Dondarrion, whom Thoros of Myr resurrected several times.
    • "UnCat" or "Zombie Cat" for Catelyn after she's resurrected.
    • In certain parts of the community Ser Gregor is known as "The Mountain that Rapes". You can guess why. Later on, i.e. as of A Feast for Crows, Qyburn's experiment with Gregor was dubbed "Franken-Gregor", "Gregolem", "Gregorstein", "Qyborg" or just "UnGregor". In A Dance With Dragons it's given an official name: Ser Robert Strong.
    • Jorah's unrequited feelings for Daenerys earned him the nicknames "Ser Friendzone", "Lord Friendzone", and "Ser Jorah of House Friendzone".
    • "Shadow babies" for Melisandre's terrifying shadow children.
    • Stannis is affectionately known as "Stannis the Mannis" by his fans, often shortened to "Stan the Man". Also, "Stanislav" which is a portmanteau of sorts for "Stan is love", itself a reference to a meme. Stannis is also a (albeit rare) real-life nickname for people named Stanislav.
      • In parts of the Russian fandom it is not uncommon to find him being referred to as "Comrade Stannis". Why? Because it sounds like "Comrade Stalin". This is used both by haters of Stannis and by his fans. It probably helps that he follows the advice of a red witch and is taking part to a war in the snow.
    • Melisandre often gets shortened to "Mel".
    • "Robbwind" or "Grey Robb", for the desecrated corpse sewn together from Robb and his direwolf's remains.
    • The Other that is killed by Sam in A Storm of Swords has become known affectionately as "Puddles", because the Others seem to "melt" when killed.
    • "Dorkstar" for Darkstar, who is seen as The Scrappy for trying too hard to evoke Evil Is Cool.
    • "Ironbabies" for the Ironborn, from people who find their adherence to their Rape, Pillage, and Burn gimmick to be overly edgy and impractical.
    • In A Dance With Dragons, Manderly's revenge scheme is generally referred to as "Delicious Frey Pie", with means exactly what it sounds like.
    • "fAegon", as in Fake Aegon for people who don't think Young Griff really is the son of Rhaegar. Jeyne Poole is sometimes similarly called "fArya" because she was forced to impersonate Arya Stark.
      • In the Russian fandom, it's not uncommon to find him being referred to as "Pseudo-Demetrius", or another alias of that historical person (such as "Aegon Otrepiev" or "Aegon of Uglich"), after a very similar character of Russian history.
    • In some circles, Jon Snow's murder is referred to as "The Ides of Marsh", because he was killed by Bowen Marsh and several of his co-conspirators in a scenario similar to the assassination of Julius Caesar.
    • Areo Hotah, called the "Camera that Rides" because he exists just to give another POV in Dorne.
    • Jon Connington's name is shortened to "JonCon" to avoid confusion with Jon Snow and the other, less prominent Jons in the series.
    • The "Unkiss", Sansa's false memory of the Hound kissing her.
    • In the same vein as the "Red Wedding", Joffrey and Maegaery's wedding is called the "Purple Wedding" after the amethysts in Sansa's hairnet, which were used to poison Joffrey's purple wine, turning his face purple in death. Other "Color" Wedding nicknames are used, though to a lesser extent:
      • The "Silver Wedding" (Daenerys/Drogo) for the horse Silver and the color of the bride's hair.
      • The "Golden Wedding" (Tyrion/Sansa) for the Lannister sigil; also called the "White Wedding", due to Tyrion and Sansa never consummating the union and the fact that nobody dies horribly.
      • The "Grey" Wedding (Ramsey/Jeyne Poole as Arya Stark) for the bride's eyes being the wrong color and the grey snow; also called the "Pink Wedding" for the Bolton sigil.
    • Some fans also refer to George R. R. Martin (the series' author) as "The Mountain that Writes" due to his considerable girth. Others refer to him as "The Mountain That Doesn't Write" for the long gaps between books.
    • The "Tower of Joy" is generally treated like a proper name to a tower and an incident there, though the phrase comes from an offhand description.
    • "Team Dragonstone" for the Power Trio of Stannis, Davos, and Melisandre. Stannis' wife Selyse and daughter Shireen are sometimes included as well.
    • Victarion Greyjoy is often shortened to "Vic" or "Vicky".
    • Randyll Tarly is sometimes referred to as Randyll "Rape Apologist" Tarly because of his horrible, misogynistic treatment of Brienne, telling her that if she gets raped it's her own fault.
    • The expected fight between Sandor and Gregor Clegane (already happened in the series) is referred to as Cleganebowl.
    • The expected fight between Ramsay Bolton and Jon Snow (already happened in the series) is referred to as Bastardbowl or Snowbowl.
    • The relationship between Cersei and Jaime Lannister is called "the Lannincest".
    • Ser Barristan Selmy is sometimes called "Ser Badasstan".
    • All of the Mereenese characters have names that are difficult to spell and pronounce that readers got fed up in remembering them and decided to all name them, "Harzoo".
    • The "Dead Ladies Club" for deceased female characters that are closely connected to major characters. Lyanna Stark, Elia Martell, Rhaella Targaryen, Joanna Lannister, and Ashara Dayne are usually the main ones but the list is flexible. Others include Lyarra Stark, Cassana Estermont, Minisa Tully, Tysha (assuming she's dead), Rhaenys Targaryen (daughter of Prince Rhaegar), and the unnamed Princess of Drone (mother of Doran, Elia, and Oberyn).
    • Related to the above, some fans have come up with a few names for Doran, Elia, and Oberyn's mother. The most popular are "Ariella Martell" (a portmanteau of Arianne and Sarella) and "Loreza Martell" (thus making Oberyn and Ellaria's daughter a Dead Guy Junior).
    • The "STAB Alliance", for the alliance that rebelled against Aerys the Mad (Stark, Tully, Arryn and Baratheon). Upgraded to the "BLAST Alliance" if considering House Lannister in the mix.
    • Referring to the tv-show, after the dramatic reveal that Jon is the legitimate son of Rhaegar Targaryen, and his name is Aegon, many fans have expressed displeasure with the name, and taken to calling him "Jaehaerys" instead. There's also those who jokingly refer to him as "Visenya", to go along with his siblings being named Aegon and Rhaenys, since many fans assume Rhaegar wanted Jon to be a daughter.
    • "Dadvos" for Ser Davos Seaworth, due to his care for his sons and other children such as Shireen Baratheon and Edric Storm (changed to Gendry in the series), to the point of disobeying Stannis to save Edric.
    • The letter that Jon Snow receives from Ramsay Bolton in his last Dance chapter is referred to as the "Pink Letter" because it was sealed with pink wax, that being the main color of House Bolton.
  60. Trivia.Baccano: Fan Nickname: Czeslaw has "Czeswaffles", as both a joke on the way his name is actually pronounced (Czes-WAUFF) and a term of affection due to his woobiness.
  61. Trivia.Canaan: Fan Nickname:
    • Osawa Moeria.
    • Sugoi Sugoi: Either just Maria as her Catchphrase, or the show on a whole.
    • Mino-Sama: By those who like Mino.
    • HIGH TENSION!: the badass taxi driver after his apparent Catchphrase.
      • Some fans call him "Taxi Driver George" due to his awesomeness multiplied by a few times thanks to Joji Nakata voicing him, who's also known as George.
  62. Trivia.Cardfight Vanguard: Fan Nickname:
    • Asaka is called rule 63 Aichi due to their physical similarities.
    • Yandere Aichi started to catch on after ride 44. Also PsyAichi.
    • Suibey after 58 aired.
    • Among his Japanese fans, Ren is often referred to as "Ren-sama".
    • Platina Ezel is frequently referred to as Pretzels or PEzel for short.
    • When Kai shows off having Psyqualia in the manga, it was quickly given the nickname Kaiqualia.
    • A real life example, Izumi Kitta, Misaki's voice actor, has a tendency to pull two triggers to break through her opponent's guards, and a lot of them are double critical triggers. This has earned her the nickname of Izuqualia.
    • Like the Gaang and the Krew, Kai and his friends who are looking for Aichi are called the "Mates."
    • The game itself is called "Luckfight Sackguard" due to its propensity for relying on cards on the top of players' decks as part of its game mechanics.
  63. Trivia.Castlevania: Fan Nickname: There's a whole lot of them, mostly listed in their game-specific Trivia pages. But fan nicknames that apply to multiple installments, or the franchise itself are:
    • Eeguh - Koji "IGA" Igarashi, the producer of the series from Castlevania Chronicles to Harmony of Despair.
    • The Belmont Walk; the Pimp Walk - A peculiar stride that all of the members of the vampire hunter clan Belmont use. This most likely originated from the four frames of animation use for Simon's walk from the original game, but other 2D Belmonts used it too, leading to the nickname.
    • Fleaman - Originally called Hunchbacks, people started calling them Fleamen because of their erratic jumping, and the name kinda stuck, to the point that it's the official name in-game for them.
      • They're also called Humpers due to their unfortunate limited animation.
    • IGAvanias - For all the Castlevania games produced by Koji Igarashi, almost all of which were "Metroidvanias". Also used for his spiritual successor Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night.
    • Classicvanias - For all the classic stage-based Castlevania games prior to Symphony of the Night.
    • Metroidvania - For the post-Symphony of the Night installments in the series for their sprawling world map and wide open exploration. It has also become a nickname for an entire sub-genre of 2D action games offering similar mechanics (for better or worse)
    • 3Dvanias - For all the 3D-based games in the series.
    • Wall Meat, for the mysterious healing items (usually some sort of roast) that drop when walls are whipped.
  64. Trivia.Dark Souls II: Fan Nickname:
    • Dyna & Tillo have been nicknamed "Silky" (Or "Silky & Smooth"), keeping the tradition of Snuggly and Sparkly's names.
    • Old Ornstein for Old Dragonslayer, or Dark Magic Ornstein. Sometimes nicknamed "Deadly Farts" Ornstein due to his buttstomp sending out dark magic.
    • "New Smough" for Dragonrider, due to his large size and that he guards the opposite path of Ornstein's.
    • "Estus Maid" or "Firelink Maid" for Emerald Herald, since she gives you the first Estus Flask and upgrades it, while she usually stays near the Majula Bonfire.
    • Heide Knights look like buffed up Solaires, so they've been naturally nicknamed "Sunbros". They only attack if provoked, so they are pretty laid back like Solaire. "Fauxlaire" is not an uncommon moniker either.
    • Alonne Knights are often given the nickname "Weeaboo Knights" or "Weeb Knights" because they're knights in western armor... wielding katana.
    • Old Ironclads have been nicknamed "Turtlemen", for obvious reasons based on the shape of their armor. They're also called "Ninja Turtles" because of how they'll flip back and crush you if you try to backstab them. The regular Ironclads don't get this as much due to their purely silver coloration, opposed to the mossy green of the Old Ironclad.
    • Illuminated Corpses have been referred to as "Exploding Hollows", "Jihad Zombies", or "Bellyfloppers", due to their signature attack.
    • Members of various covenants have their own nicknames. The general rule of thumb is that each covenant's members are "bros." I.e. "Bluebros" for the Sentinels, "Bloodbros" for the Brotherhood of Blood, etc, but there are some specific ones as well:
      • Rat King Covenant are "Ratbros" or "Dickrats," depending on whose side you're on. The term "Brodent" is somewhat common within the covenant as well, and "Rat Bastards" is for those getting fed up with being repeatedly killed by them.
      • The Blue Sentinels are often referred to as the "Blue Man Group" or "Drangleic PD." The Blue Sentinels and Brotherhood of Blood are sometimes referred to as "Blueberries" and "Strawberries" respectively, as well. "Bluebro" is a general term for both Blue Sentinels and Way of Blue members, due to how they interact.
      • Bell Guardians are"Clang-Bangers." Although they call themselves "Bellbros".
      • Dragon Remnants are "Dragonbros".
      • Warriors of the Sun are, as with the previous game, "Sunbros".

    • The Covetous Demon is alternately known as "Jabba the Hutt".
    • For Lucatiel of Mirrah:
    • The pair of Dragonriders in Drangelic Castle are the "Double Dragons".
    • The Shrine of Amana is "Touhou Swamp" after all the priestesses who spam Homing Soul Arrow everywhere.
    • Felicia the Brave, an NPC summon in the Shrine of Amana, is now known as "Felicia the Fucking Strong" after EpicNameBro made a comment about her during his playthrough of the game. It's even spawned fanart.
    • Drangleic Castle is referred to as "Synthetic Cattle" on Reddit's Dark Souls 2 sub, after an unfortunately-autocorrected PSA on a bug.
    • Velstadt the Royal Aegis is otherwise known as "Garl Vinland 2.0" (or 3.0 if you count Paladin Leeroy) due to how ridiculously similar their appearance, choice of weapon and role are.
    • Because of its angelic appearance and hooded face, the Darklurker is jokingly referred to as "Tyrael".
    • Since Elana shares a backstory with Nashandra and fights similarly, she's nicknamed as "Nashandra 2.0".
    • The trio of adventurers (Graverobber, Varg and Cerah) are appropriately called the "Gank Squad (of Doom)".
    • The blue Smelter Demon found in the DLC is affectionately named "Smelter's Revenge".
      • Another popular nickname set for the two is Nacho and Cool Ranch, named for the Doritos packaging colors.
    • Sir Alonne is subject to puns like "Forever Alonne" or "Shiva the Beast" (in some cases, it even digs up the meme known as "Shiva the Deceased").
    • Due to the importance of poise and armor rating being far less relevant than in the first game and relying more on dodging, players have taken a liking to dress up in whatever they feel is most fashionable, aka "Fashion Souls".
    • The Ancient Dragon, due to its epic Goddamned Boss status, is appropriately called the "Ancient Douchebag".
    • Thanks to Fun with Acronyms, Sir Raime the Fume Knight's weapon is more known as the "FUGS" (Fume Ultra GreatSword).
    • The Smelter Hammer is more known as the "Chicken Leg" due to its appearance resembling, well, a leg of fried chicken.
    • Because of its appearance, the Crypt Blacksword is sometimes called "The Popsicle", "Giant Purple Popsicle", or "Giant Lead Popsicle".
  65. Trivia.Demon Slayer Kimetsu No Yaiba: Fan Nickname:
    • The main character group is collectively called the Kamaboko group by Japanese fans though this mostly applied to the trio of Tanjiro, Zenitsu, and Inosuke. This was at first inspired by Inosuke's Accidental Misnaming of Tanjiro (as "Gonpachiro Kamaboko") and went from there.
    • "Michael Jackson", "Muzan Jackson", or even "The Hee-Hee Man" for Big Bad Muzan Kibutsuji, because his design resembles Michael Jackson from his Smooth Criminal video a lot.
    • "Muzanna" for Muzan's female guise, given mainly by Indonesian fans since his chilling gaze in the guise resembles that of the horror film star Suzzanna.
    • Himejima is referred to as "Godjima" because of his huge stature, unwavering kindness, and the fact that he's the strongest of the Pillars.
    • The Japanese fandom has given Muzan several nicknames, including:
      • "Crossdressing Boy Man" (女装ショタおじさん, Josō Shota Ojisan), due to his shapeshifting abilities.
      • "Honorary Demon Slayer" (名誉鬼殺隊員, Meiyo Kisatsutaiin), "Demon/Power Harassment Hashira" (鬼柱/パワハラ柱, Oni/Pawahara Bashira), "Power Harassment Breathing user" (パワハラの呼吸の使い手, Pawahara no Kokyū no tsukaite), and so on, due to his fatally Bad Boss tendencies towards his own demons.
      • "Flashy Muzan" (チャラ無惨, Chara Muzan) for his appearance in the flashback of Chapter 178, where he is seen wearing a patterned yukata with a Cleavage Window.
    • "Diced Steak Senpai" (サイコロステーキ先輩 Saikoro Sutēki Senpai) for the ambitious Demon Slayer who quickly gets killed by Rui.
    • The Anime itself, especially the Infinity Train movie, is sometimes referred to in Japanese discussion board as the "Economy Pillar" as the box office revenue of the movie alone helped off-set whatever losses the Japanese movie industry took from the COVID-19 Pandemic; not to mention merch sales and other tie-ins that have sold really well.
  66. Trivia.Dune: Fan Nickname:
    • The "Duniverse".
    • There aren't any names applied to characters or concepts in-universe, but many have cropped up to describe Fandom opinion. Those that only consider the books written by Frank Herbert refer to themselves as "Orthodox Herbertarians", while fans of the prequels and sequels by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson are called "preeqs". Then the preeqs retalliated by calling the original fandom "Talifans".
    • Also, the Herbert Jr. and Anderson books are often nicknamed "Mc Dune", since they are often accused of having ridiculous amounts of Canon Discontinuity, Flanderization, Shrug of God and overall shoddy writing quality.
  67. Trivia.Earths Children: Fan Nickname: Jondalar is frequently called "Dongjalar" or some variation thereof, due to his impressive endowment.
  68. Trivia.Final Fantasy XIV: Fan Nickname:
    • 'Selfish DPS' is the term for DPS jobs that focus on personal damage rather than team support, like Black Mages and Samurai. Despite the name, it's more neutral than pejorative (allies that kill the enemy fast are just as useful as allies that empower/heal you, and their higher base damage makes them excellent targets for other players' buffs), and simply tells you what you should expect from a party member in that job.
    • 'Green DPS' is the term for healers who throw in as much damage as even the sharpest samurai or the darkest black mage.
    • Slightly altering every FFXI race and giving them new names doesn't stop many fans from calling them Hume (Hyur), Elvaan (Elezen), Tarutaru (Lalafell), Mithra (Miqo'te) and Galka (Roegadyn). Though at this point, the game is so damn popular and has brought so many new players to the "Final Fantasy MMO scene" that a number of new players call the cat people in XI "Miqo'te" and the small folk "Lalas", which naturally drives XI veterans nutso. Hume is especially roundabout as it actually is the name of what we call Hyur in The First.
    • The game itself is sometimes called "Catgirls Online", due to the number of players who signed up primarily to play as a Miqo'te.
    • Titan's Mountain Buster attack is given the nickname of "Table Flip", due to the animation making it look like he's flipping an invisible table.
    • LOLDragoon. Dragoons are infamous for constantly dying to avoidable damage. Their Jump has an animation lock, so if they time it poorly, then Jump will leave them in range of an AOE attack they won't be able to dodge. Even Square Enix has embraced the LOLDRG meme: they created a 16-bit version of the Titan EX fight, in which the Dragoon dies almost immediately, and the Heavensward Dragoon job questline revolves around a Dragoon who gets herself in trouble by an ill-timed Jump letting her target drag her away to parts unknown.
    • After Hildebrand accidentally calls him by the wrong name, Gilgamesh came to be almost universally known as Greg within the XIV community, and it has even spread to other FF related games.
    • Team jump rope, used to describe how most end game content is done where everyone in the party has to follow every scripted step in the battle in harmony with one another and anyone who screws up a step will likely cause the party to wipe.
    • Popotoes/Potatoes and Giraffes for Lalafells and Elezen respectively.
    • Pepsiman for the Living Liquid boss of the Alexander raid.
    • Before unsynced duties were a thing, the strategy of farming T2 and ignoring mechanics by waiting 10 minutes for the (easy to outheal) enrage was called "Allagan Rave" because of all the blasting lights and waves the boss shot out while enraged.
    • Bard Mode for the Minstrel's Ballad trials (a pun on bard, referring to the minstrel, and hard mode, as this is the Hard/Extreme mode difficulty the Final Bosses).
    • Many players like to call Mor Dhona as "More Donuts", possibly due to how the original zone in 1.0 somewhat resembled a donut.
    • The Weeping City of Mhach, for its sharp difficulty increase compared to its Void Ark predecessor, has been dubbed the Wiping City of Mhach.
    • Black Mage's Enochian is occasionally called Eno-chan.
    • The Ridorana Lighthouse is called the Wipehouse for the same reason.
      • The Ivalice raids in general may go by the names of Rabanasty (Royal City of Rabanastre), Ridoranasty (Ridorana Lighthouse), and Orbonnasty (Orbonne Monestary) due the infamous difficulty these raids had and sometimes still have.
    • The Great Google Library, for the Gubal Library. SE acknowledged this one; the quest to unlock the hard mode version of the dungeon is called "Let Me Gubal That for You."
    • "Alwaysreap" for Neverreap, due to spending a significant amount of time as one of two dungeons available in the Expert Roulette and earning a reputation for being randomly selected more often than it ought to be.
    • Some people have taken to calling Ilberd "Sloppy" or "'Ol Sloppy" due to a particular taunt he uses frequently during his final boss fight.
    • Jenga Tower for Heaven-on-High, a strange looking blocky tower overlooking the Ruby Sea that acts as the Stormblood equivalent of Palace of the Dead.
    • The Kojin, a race of humanoid turtles in the Stormblood expansion, were almost immediately referred to as ninja turtles.
    • Hashmal in the Rabanastre City raid is nicknamed "Hash Browns" as a pun on his name and the fact that his skin tone is mostly brown.
    • Dragon girls/guys for the Au Ra due to their scales, tails, and horns, even though they're technically not dragon people. Square was apparently expecting this one, since several Au Ra NPCs in Heavensward talk about how they've been mistaken for dragons and attacked by the Ishgardians.
    • Math Blaster for Construct 7's segment of the Ridorana Lighthouse raid. This is due to a mechanic in the fight where the player's need to adjust their reduced HP to match Construct 7's instructions (divisible by 5, prime, etc), in order to gain a buff.
    • "Mini-filia" was popular for the Minfilia of the First before she was renamed "Ryne" to differentiate her from the Antecedent of the Scions.
    • "Rez Mage" for Red Mage, owing to their Dualcast trait allowing them to spam instant-cast Raises for as long as their MP holds out, unlike the healer jobs or Summoners.
    • Gunbreaker's "Superbolide" skill is sometimes referred to as "Superbol" for short. Sometimes said short version is instead twisted into "Superbowl".
      • There's also the dreaded "Bene Bollide", where a White Mage may perform their full heal Benediction at the same time a Gunbreaker does their Superbolide, both a measure to keep the Gunbreaker from dying. However, due to lag and/or server ticks, sometimes the Benediction goes off first, leaving the Gunbreaker down to 1HP while the White Mage does a mad dash to heal them.
    • Estinien is often referred to as "grumpy jumpy" or just "grump jump" by his fans.
    • The prominent horns featured on most high-end Summoner headgear are referred to as "Summoner dongs". Many, many fandom injokes are based on treating it like a Gag Penis.
    • The Scholar's "Dissipation" skill, due to temporarily banishing their fairy in exchange for Aetherflow stacks and boosted healing strength, is referred to by the fanbase as "eat(ing) the fairy".
    • Many refer to Fandaniel as simply Daniel for short, but another common name is "Damn Daniel" after the memetic video of a guy getting excited over his friend Daniel's shoes.
    • Even though the paid optional items store was rebranded into the FFXIV Online Store, long-time players still refer to it by the original name of "Mog Station Store" or just "Mog Station".
    • The Reaper, a Melee DPS introduced in Endwalker with a Sinister Scythe for a weapon, was dubbed "Angry Botanist" by the community for using the gathering class' secondary tool as a weapon. Humorously, the Job's lore revealed that the first Reapers were Botanists and farmers who used their farming tools and made pacts with Voidsent out of desperation to protect themselves from invaders.
    • Lisa Lomasa is turning into this for Limsa Lominsa from Asmongold's mispronounciation of the city name.
  69. Trivia.Highlander: Fan Nickname:

    • "Power Block," being just plain easier to say than "block a Power Blow with an exertion" (or " block a Power Blow without an exertion and take no damage"). Became Ascended Fanon in the second edition.
  70. Trivia.Karrion Kross: Fan Nickname:

In some cases various combinations of characters even had their own nicknames (Fistbuster, Thorkoye).
    • Back when certain 2 star characters were retooled as 3 stars with higher skill damage these 3 star characters were labelled as Lazy characters (i.e. Lazy Thor, Lazy Daken, Lazy Cap) as the developers were deemed lazy to create completely new skillsets and would rather power up whatever skills they already had onto a new rarity.
    • Although not as universal, people will often refer to different rankings of the same characters with nicknames, such as white Magneto or red Magneto for two and three stars respectively due to the color of their armor.

    • Rapunzel's transformation when using the hurt incantation has earned the nickname "Dark Rapunzel" by older fans who have pointed out how her design looks very similar to fanarts of an evil Rapunzel. Others have jokingly called her "Emo Raps" due to all the bad emo fanarts and designs by fangirls in various fan pages who would often just badly color Raps hair black, though "Emo Raps" is more commonly used for Rapunzel's grumpy Peek A Bangs-having self from Not in the Mood.
  87. Trivia.Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann: Fan Nickname:
    • Beamspam McMuppet — Attenborough, the Gonkish weapons officer of the DaiGurren, who loves his work a little too much.
      • Also known as Button Smash McMuppet.
    • Captain Garlock — the captain in the prologue to the first episode, who resembles Captain Harlock. He is believed to be an alternate version of, and should not be confused with, the much less arrogant Post-Timeskip Simon, who is referred to as Captain Starlock.
      • Likewise the assistant standing next to him is referred to as Bootaide. An uplifted Boota shows up in the later episodes as well.
      • The GARcadia — The Super Galaxy Dai-Gurren, a.k.a. Cathedral Terra. By logical extension of the above nickname.
    • Cotton Hill — Makken of the Team Dai-Gurren, who resembles Hank Hill's father.
    • Doombitch — Yoko, who gave a Last Kiss to two characters, Kamina and Kittan, who then died of Retirony.
      • In her defense, Kittan was the one who kissed Yoko, and that was AFTER he decided he was going on a suicide mission to give Team Dai-Gurren the chance they needed to win.
    • Professer Midrift — Otherwise known as Leite. Named as such due to nearly every scene she's featured in displaying her nerdy abs.
    • Startits- Yoko earns this one for the literally star-studded bra she wears as part of her space-faring outfit. Just watch Kittan's first reaction to it and you'll know why.
    • Bruce Ironstaunch — An otherwise unnamed background character who only appears in one scene in the series, making a supportive, strong-armed gesture to Rossiu during the speech where he gives news of Simon's death sentence and word of an escape plan to save the city's population from their planet's moon, which is set to collide with the planet. In Western culture, however, Bruce's gesture translates roughly to "fuck you," and as such several fan artworks of Bruce have been created by Western viewers, depicting Bruce beating on Rossiu or just being manly in general.
      • The same memetic Fanon holds he's the one who threw that anonymous rock at Rossiu. But, whoever it was, there is at least one fan club dedicated to them.
    • Kamina-sama: adding 'the great' as a prefix optional. — Kamina. Let's face it; the man deserves it.
    • Lulussiu and Spinsimon: Rossiu and Simon, respectively after the Time Skip, because the same English voice actors voice both pairs, and because of both pairs' similar actions and relationships. Also note the oddness that each voices the generally like main character in one series, and The Scrappy in the other.
      • Namely, Rossiu's penchant for Xanatos Gambits and Simon's Uhhh. Spinning.
    • The Anti-Spiral King: To diferentiate this Walking Spoiler from the Anti-Spiral Race. Though they do overlap.
  88. Trivia. The Demon Girl Next Door: Fan Nickname:
    • Because Yuko actually fits two tropes related to carpines - Gruesome Goat for her horns (plus a proclivity to eat almost anything), and Sweet Sheep for her personality - she's often referred to as "the Goat".
    • Fans also like to call the pre-Horned Humanoid Yuko "Yuuko"note .
  89. Trivia. The Legend Of Zelda Breath Of The Wild: Fan Nickname:
    • The game has been called Zelder Scrolls and Hyrim/Zeldrim/Skyrule because its Wide-Open Sandbox nature makes it reminiscent of titles from the Elder Scrolls series.
    • Zelda Souls took off among some communities after information from E3 2016 revealed the game's heavier focus on wanting to tell certain story elements through the environment. Also because dodging and parrying properly are the most effective way of taking down enemies, and how quickly weapons break.
    • Metal Gear Zelda: The Phantom Link due to the many similarities the game shares with the open-world nature of MGSV, primarily stealth-based ways to raid enemy camps, marking and tracking enemies on the map, and the Sheikah Slate filling many of the same functions as the iDroid. As well as a story of a man awakening from a coma after being attacked and losing many of their friends.
    • Yunobo, Teba, Riju, and Sidon are collectively known as the "Modern Champions" or the "New Champions" due to their roles in helping Link reach the respective Divine Beasts of their region. Their appearance in Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity only reinforces the notion.
    • Some circles of fans refer to Revali as "Ravioli", which he shares with Ravio. Likewise, some detractors refer to him as "Chicken Man" or "Cucco Man".
    • Once you complete the Champions' Ballad, available through the second DLC, Link gets his own Divine Beast, a Magitek motorcycle called the Master Cycle Zero. Also known as the Divine Beast Vah Ruum. Others note how it sucks up materials to use as fuel, and have given it the name Vah Roomba. Still others call it Vah Bospho or Vah Rhoa to fit with the theme of the other four's names being corruptions or a Significant Anagram of the elemental sages that were the same race as the Champion piloting it (Ruta for Ruto, Medli for Medoh, Nabooru for Naboris, and Darunia for Rudania.)
    • The Ganondorf-esque figure shown underground in the sequel teaser has been dubbed "Dehydrated Ganondorf" by the fandom.
    • Two of the three special horses you can tame are known by different names. The black horse based on Ganondorf's has been dubbed "Ganonhorse" and "Ganoneigh", while the 4-4-5 horse is known as Ultimate Horse, Ultimate Steed, The Ultimate Horse, or The Ultimate Steed.
    • Magda, the lady who is guarding the flowers surrounding the Hila Rao Shrine has been called "Flowerblight Ganon" by fans due to her extreme reaction after stepping on the flowers around the shrine 3 times.
    • A physics exploit involving slow motion and both types of bombs to launch Link faster and farther than normally possible is known by several names: Bomb Impact Launch, Wind Bomb, Bounce That Boi, and Boomy Zoomy.
  90. Trivia.Thunderbolt Fantasy: Fan Nickname: Nicknames for characters has been passing between the Japanese and Chinese demographic vigorously, with the nicknames for the first four characters hitting canon between fans.
    • Lin Xue Ya: "Kyubey-ya," and "Zero Blood Pressure" note
      • "Vape Duck"note
      • There's also "Vape Wizard" note
      • "G8 Ya" note
    • Shang Bu Huan: "Brothel Inn" note
    • Xuan Gui Zong: "Happy/Energetic Party." note
    • Mie Tian Hai: "Daily Hype" note
    • Sha Wu Sheng: "Mr. Visual Kei" note
    • And in Season 2...
      • Lang Wu Yao: "Bard" note , "T.M.Revolution" note , "Guitar Hero" note
      • Xie Yingluo: "Scorpion" note , "Poison" note , "Cruelty" note
      • Xiao Kuang Juan: "Fox" note , "Glasses" note
  91. Trivia.Tiger And Bunny: Fan Nickname: Several.
    • "Scarf-tan" for the Recurring Extra who is frequently rescued by the heroes.
    • "The Girls' Team" for the trio of Blue Rose, Dragon Kid, and Fire Emblem.
    • "Palmface" for Lunatic thanks to the design of his mask and Kotetsu's in-series joke. Unfortunately it turns out to not be as funny a nickname as it initially started out as.
    • "Moe Oyaji" for Kotetsu, in reference to his Adorkable One of the Kids tendencies (as well as constantly being called "Oji-san" in canon).
    • "The catbeard" for Kotetsu's beard, which is shaped like a cat's head.
    • And the "crapsuit" for Kotetsu's first outfit (which is actually called a crappy suit in the second episode, and literally a "crap-suit" in the English dubbed version of the same scene).
  92. Trivia.Ultraman Geed: Fan Nickname: AIB (Alien Investigation Bureau) can also called as Alien In Black.
  93. Trivia.World Of Warcraft: Fan Nickname:
    • The gear you acquire is Color-Coded for Your Convenience, based on the color the name of the item appears when you hover your mouse over it; uncommon items are referred to as "greens", rare are "blues", epics are "purples", and Legendary items are "oranges". Good luck on getting an orange, and no one beyond level ten or fifteen would willingly use a common or "white" item (except maybe hats or shoulder pieces, which are hard to find until around level 30 or special cases such as Fishing Pole Duels).
    • Members of the Alliance and Horde are respectively called "Allys" note  and "Hordies" respectively.
    • Various classes have shorthand for them, most often used by Raiders and Pvp players as shorthand for strategies. While many classes have the same shorthand, or even name for their specializations, they're usually mentioned alongside the class.
      • Death Knights are shorthanded into "DK" while their specializations are just written out, except unholy, which is sometimes refered to has "UH".
      • Druids are either "Resto" "Cat" "Bear, Bare, Bere, or some other mangled half-recognizable form of "This guy is a bear" druids for Restoration, Feral, and Guardian, and in the case of balance "Boomkins", or more rarely, "laser chicken", due to the Moonkin form having the head of a bird and using the Moonfire spell, which resembles some kind of orbital energy weapon attack, as one of their primary attacks.
      • Hunters are MM for Marksmanship, BM for Beast Mastery, and SV or Surv for Survival.
      • Mages, having relatively short names for their specs, are just called that outright.
      • Monks are "BM" or "BWM" for Brewmasters, "MW" for Mistweavers, or "WW" for Windwalkers.
      • Paladins are shortened to "Pallys" with specializations being "Ret" for Retribution and "Prot" for Protection. Holy, already being a 4-letter word, is just left as is, although some people shorten it to "Hpal".
      • Priests are generally shortend to "First letter of specialization plus Priest" such as "Spriest" for Shadow, "Hpriest" for Holy, and Disc" for Discipline.
      • Rogues are either refered to as Rogues or Rouges. Subtlety ones are shortend to "Sub", Outlaw to "Out", and Assassin usually to "Sin" to avoid the other name of "Ass".
      • Shamans are "shammies". "Resto" is used for Restoration (same as Druids), "Ele" (pronounced as either "el-eh" or "elly") for Elemental, "Enh" for Enhancement. Enhancement is occasionally referred to as "Enchancement", sometimes as a typo (like "rouge" for rogues) and sometimes as a self-deprecating joke about the spec's survivability. The term "blueberry" was a derogatory term used in Burning Crusade for new draenei shamans, referring to their skin tone (which of course ignored that most Darkspear trolls, a valid race for shamans from vanilla, were also usually some shade of blue).
      • Warlocks are shortened to "Locks", and their specs are "Demo" for Demonology, "Destro" for Destruction, and "Aff" for affliction. Their Felhunter pets are often referred to as "Felpuppies."
      • Warriors are shortened to "Wars" which is almost never used for Warlocks, despite them also starting with "War". The specs, besides "Prot" for protection, are relatively simply named and just refered to as such. Fury warriors are occasionally called "a rogue in plate", due to dual wielding and often being on par with rogues in the damage meters, rogues being a purely damage-oriented class in constrast to warriors which can either tank or DPS.
    • When the Death Knight class was released in Wrath of the Lich King, one of their spells was "Death Grip". What it basically did was yank an enemy player over to you so you could give him a face-full of your sword. In Cataclysm, priests got a new spell known as "Leap of Faith", which did the exact same thing (yanking a player towards you to get them away from a big sword or area damage), only on friendly players. People thought "Leap of Faith" was a stupid name, and so, unofficially renamed it "Life Grip". Even the devs use the nickname on occasion.
    • In Warlords of Draenor, the bosses Hans'gar and Franzok (a Dual Boss encounter) are popularly known as "Hans and Franz," not only because of the shortening of their names, but also because they are a clear reference to the recurring Saturday Night Live sketch, starring two Austrian bodybuilders, Hans and Franz (who were themselves pastiches of Arnold Schwarzenegger).
    • Illidan Stormrage is sometimes known as 'Illidindo Nuffin'. Or, "I didn't do anything wrong." He's earned this moniker for a few reasons. One, he always thinks he's doing the right thing, even when he's wrong. Two, fans go to extreme lengths to make him into a pure, do-no-wrong good guy. Three, people worry Blizzard may make him one just to appease those fans.
    • Xal'atath, the Shadow Priest Artifact Weapon, has received the nickname "Knaifu". A Portmanteau of "Knife" and "Waifu", or a fictional character you would want to date or marry. Presumably fans who use this nickname are Aroused by Their Voice.
    • A troll shaman named Zekhan from the Battle for Azeroth cinematic gained notoriety for his distinctive look and impressive lightning spells, earning him Ensemble Dark Horse status and the nickname "Zappyboi."
  94. Trivia.Yu Gi Oh 5 Ds: Fan Nickname: Nearly every character has one, as do some inanimate objects and plot devices. See its section on the Fan Nickname page for more.
    • Probably the most famous is 'Crabhead' or the phonetic "Yousay" for "Yusei". The fact that an insert song is called Yousay may or may not be a Shout-Out to the fan name.
    • Some people called out Aki Kallen for their similar appearance. Though one could argue she's got some CC in her as well.
    • Game Sue and Hat Guy for the main character of the various games, because he usually takes the place of an established character (such as Crow in Over the Nexus) and sidelines the rest so that you can be the one to beat the bad guy.
    • "Bitchboots" for Placido, because of his Combat Stilettos.
    • "Fudo bitchslap", for the times when Yusei and his dad use Get A Hold Of Yourself Man.
    • "Rexpositions" for Godwin's role as Mr. Exposition.
    • Carly's Dark Signer self is commonly referred to as "D-Carly".
    • "The Tenors" for Yliaster, thanks to their Theme Naming.
    • Robo-Shrimp. Random Hobo Z-One and Best Yusei Cosplayer. All for Z-One.
  95. UnexplainedRecovery.Anime And Manga: Episode 15 has a nurse explain that Coordinators can survive injuries that would kill normal humans. Or maybe that whole "Jesus Yamato" thing wasn't so far off after all...
  96. VideoGame.Fire Warrior: Anti-Hero with Good Publicity: Despite Kais' dad being a completely and utter son of a bitch in reality, as Lusha reveals, having once shot a subordinate for a relatively minor offense and generally being a Bad Boss, the Tau public at large have a very idealized view of him as a heroic figure due to the Water Caste media editing out any depiction of him as such for, presumably, propaganda reasons. There's a reason they call Tau Blue Space Communists...
  97. VideoGame.Wargame European Escalation: One-Hit Kill: AirLand Battle adds the French Super Etendard attack aircraft (aka the "Super Retard", or "Super Nintendo"), which carries a single missile capable of one-shoting any ground unit it hits. It's a popular counter to the Soviet T-80U.
  98. Weapon of X-Slaying: Minmax finds a "Racist Axe" that gains an accuracy and damage bonus if the wielder is the same race as their target. He gives it to his comrade Forgath when they're attacked by Kore, since both Kore and Forgath are dwarves.
  99. WebVideo.Kitten Academy: The Kitten Academy is a kitten-fostering organization run by a couple in Connecticut. Christopher (Mister Academy) and Deepa (DJ) Jansen are Kindhearted Cat Lovers who've turned a couple of rooms in their house into "classrooms" where kittens can learn how to cat. They also host a YouTube livestream that runs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, in both rooms (provided they have enough kittens to populate both). On Saturdays at 10 a.m. KATZ (Kitten Academy Time Zone; that is, Eastern Time) they host a special Mailbag show where they open up letters and gifts sent to the kittens by their dedicated fans.
  100. WhatCouldHaveBeen.Dungeons And Dragons: Circle of Twilight Druids were dedicated to the cycle of life and death, granting several abilities that allowed them to commune with the dead, fight against the undead, and save and restore life. During playtesting however, it was discovered that due to a quirk of how the low-level spell Magic Missile deals damage, Twilight Druid's level 2 ability "Harvest’s Scythe" can be exploited to deal game-breaking amounts of damage with a single spell that is guaranteed to hit. This build was commonly called the Nuclear Druid (because it could nuke anything it wanted into oblivion), and was likely the reason Circle of Twilight never saw offical release. note
  101. WhatCouldHaveBeen.Sailor Moon: During the creation of Sailor Moon Stars, animation director Yoiuchi Fukano designed a new form for Sailor Moon called "Sailor Moon La Cygne" or "Sailor Moon Swan". Given the Fan Nickname of "Fukano Moon" because of who created it, the design went away from the sailor motif that was standard of all Sailor Soldiers, looking like a transition between Sailor Moon and Princess Serenity. Ultimately, though, it was decided to use Naoko Takeuchi's Eternal Sailor Moon instead.
  102. WMG.Grand Unifying Guesses The Actor Rule: In Japanese, that means that Lelouch will break up has broken up * cough* delinquent* cough* Student Council President* cough* the Euphinator with the Sword of Seals and Suzaku using his invariably large harem.
  103. WMG.Sonic The Hedgehog Characters: Both are called alien squids by the fandom, they give powers and help bipedal, super-fast animals undergo changes in their body by giving them powers/evolving them at a very fast rate, and if you'll notice, the Nega-Mother Wisp really does resemble the aliens in the comics! Purple tentacles, massive head, you could say they're Canon Immigrants.
  104. YMMV.Command And Conquer Tiberian Series: Fan Nickname: The venerable Mammoth Tank is a "Mammy," while the boxy subterranean Flame Tank from Tiberian Sun is the "BURROWING SHOEBOX OF HORRIBLE BURNING DEATH."
  105. YMMV.Darker Than Black: Chinese Electric Batman!
  106. YMMV.Identity V: Fan Nickname: Quite a few, both for gameplay terms and characters.
    • '2v8' for the Duo Hunters game mode.
    • 'Mama' for Michiko/The Geisha.
    • 'Papa' for Leo Beck/Hell Ember, thanks to him being a good father to Emma Woods/The Gardener even after becoming a hunter.
    • 'Uwu Chungus' or 'Uwu Chang' for Wu Chang/The White and Black Guards. Thanks to impressive gameplay videos from a certain top-tier CN player, they have been nicknamed 'Cyka Blyat' as well.
    • 'Evil Clown' or just 'Clown' for Joker/Smiley Face
    • 'Noib' or 'Nob' for Naib Subedar/The Mercenary. For his 'Cheshire Cat' skin, there's 'Nyaib'.
    • 'Rugby Boi' for William Ellis/The Forward.
    • 'Spider' or 'Spider Queen' for Violetta/The Soul Weaver.
    • 'Wobbie' for Robbie White/Axe Boy, owing to his status as a young child (who often mispronounce words). It alternatively could also be a reference to another trope.
    • 'Rat Boy' for Luca Balsa/The "Prisoner".
    • 'Takoyaki Day' for Hastur/The Feaster's Character Day.
    • 'Popo' for Brooke Rose (Eli's owl).
    • 'Roach' for Fiona Gilman/The Priestess.
    • 'Rat' for Freddy Riley/The Lawyer.
    • "Broken Queen" for Mary/The Bloody Queen, mainly due to how many players consider her to be OP.
  107. YMMV.Hanasaku Iroha: Die for Our Ship: Namiko Igarashi (AKA: bookstore girl) has became this to most KoxOhana fans ever since her appearance in Episode 11.
  108. YMMV.Reflections Lost On A Dark Road: Fan Nickname: Some readers have taken to referring to Jinx as the Gambling queen as she is the main catalyst for forgetting about her powers in this fic as well as The Worf Effect.

According to the Related page, 960 wicks are (correctly) placed in a Trivia/ subpage, and the rest are all over the place, including YMMV/.

Yeah, this should absolutely be YMMV; fans giving nicknames to characters is pretty blatantly an Audience Reaction and not the sort of behind-the-scenes info we normally classify as Trivia. Same with Fan Community Nickname, but since that doesn't have its own wick check, it should probably get its own thread.

I'm not as sure about Fan Community Nickname because it's a little more objective, but that's for another place and time anyway.

Wait, this is not what YMMV is for. Fans giving a character a nickname describes objective reality. This is not subjective.

[up][up]The first paragraph of Audience Reactions' description:

This is an index of Audience Reactions. An Audience Reaction is objectively not present in the work at all. It's something fans emotionally go through from experiencing the work.

That sounds exactly like what Fan Nickname is.

What's inaccurate about it? Audience Reactions are not tropes, it says so right on their page. Saying Fan Nickname isn't a trope isn't the same as saying it's not notable or should be cut.

It wasn't even listable a trope in the first place, but trivia. So even though "Not Tropeworthy" doesn't have to just be restricted to cuttable tropes (but that's its main purpose), it's still rather misleading.
