According to this post
from the show’s Instagram, the second season is due out next year. You guys think the audience will still be there, or that the strikes will have affected anything?
I will also add that this is one of the best adult animated shows I’ve ever seen and an underrated gem.
Started work on some recap pages for the show.

You’re Gonna Carry That Weight.
To be honest, I don't think the show had enough of an audience in the first place. While I watched and enjoyed it, I don't think I saw much buzz or discussion about it. I was pleasantly surprised it got a second season to begin since I thought it got canned like MODOK did.
I remember it started trending on Hulu for a bit once the second season was announced. It had to have had enough of an audience for a second season, possibly combined with being less expensive to produce than MODOK. I’m just hoping that audience will return and grow for season 2.
You’re Gonna Carry That Weight.Bumping. The Streamr on Twitter is saying Hit-Monkey season two will premiere on July 15.

Not sure how reliable they are but their report on the next season of Solar Opposites was confirmed by the co-creator.
You’re Gonna Carry That Weight. It doesn't seem that farfetched, honestly.
I wonder if it'll still lose the Marvel branding now that Hulu is part of Disney Plus.
Latest blog update (November 5th, 2022).I mean… is Hulu still a separate app? That might be part of the reason they back off the branding.

You’re Gonna Carry That Weight.Bumping. Futon Critic has the details on the new season: http://www.thefutoncritic.com/news/2024/04/04/hulu-originals-and-exclusives-spring-summer-2024-programming-slate-629515/20240404hulu01/
I'm assuming Bryce will try to make amends with the family he left behind...via Hit-Monkey, of course. Meanwhile, they're hunted by the new Lady Bullseye....
I hope they bring in Kingpin too. Bryce mentioned him a couple of times.
Latest blog update (November 5th, 2022).We have a new casting detail from Variety: Cristin Milioti as Bryce’s daughter.

You’re Gonna Carry That Weight. While the previous season had its share of mysticism and some sci-fi elements, it looks like this season is going more fantastical.
I heard Keith David as the Devil.
Bumping with another clip and a reminder that the new season drops tomorrow.
UPDATE: Just finished it. Another fun ride. I feel like they ended it in a way that it could work if they don’t get a third season, but there is just enough wiggle room to keep the story going a little longer if they so chose.

You’re Gonna Carry That Weight.Pace yourself with it. It gets wild.
Linking an Animation Magazine interview with the creators. It sounds like they want to do another season…

You’re Gonna Carry That Weight.
Honestly, it really feels like they’re doing a little more to distance themselves from Marvel in general this season. That’s why it’s just “The Devil” and not Mephisto, and why superhumans are still present but there’s no indication of any Avengers or X-Men or SHIELD coming in when the big bads unleash their plan.

You’re Gonna Carry That Weight.I finally got around to watching season 2 and while I really enjoyed it and I'm glad the show returned, I'm honestly trying to decide if I liked it better than season 1 or not. I feel that the greater plot line of the season involving the Aldermen and the Assassins' Co-op wasn't too interesting. The latter felt too "for the greater good" type of villains that wasn't handled as interestingly here. I prefer the government/organized crime conspiracy from the previous season.
I also don't know what to make of the change in tone. While the first season had plenty of supernatural elements, it still had a grounded approach and personal stakes that made it stand out from other Marvel projects. I guess they had to escalate things for the second season, but it felt too much like standard superhero fare. I like that stuff, of course, but I appreciated the first season for being different.
That being said, I felt like the personal struggles and character arcs with Monkey and Bryce thankfully kept the show's strengths intact. I was invested in Bryce's goal to reconnect with Iris. It's a plot that feels properly paced and never overstays its welcome. Monkey's turn against Bryce feels organic and a natural extension from what was set up in the previous season.
I'm also impressed by how they handled Akiko/Lady Bullseye II. They added a tragic backstory to explain why she'd become a bloodthirsty serial killer after coming off as a well-adjusted person previously, but it works. They actually portray her struggling as an assassin even after years of experience and her mentorship via Lady Bullseye's ghost was very clever. I was surprised Akiko went out as a remorseless villain. I felt like it was going to come to her forgiving Monkey and that never happened.
Speaking of backstories, I didn't like the retcon with Monkey being an enhanced animal. I guess it "explains" why he's always been different from the rest of his clan and how he adapted to humanity, but I don't feel that aspect needed an explanation.
Mephisto, I mean, the Devil, was more involved in the main plot than I was expecting. Keith David was a delight as him, even if his voice had too many filters. I found it weird that the season didn't introduce any new Marvel characters and relied on original characters. It's not a deal breaker and I found many of the OCs to be fairly creative and distinct enough to fit the Marvel universe, but it does stick out. I wonder if it has something to do with the show losing the Marvel branding, even though the branding is still used.
The animation is probably the biggest improvement from season 1. I felt some of that stiffness to be nearly gone and there were some great facial expressions and movements. The action also felt better and I liked some of the creative set-pieces for the fights, especially when using Bryce's new ghostly powers. The standouts for me are "The Last Supper" and "Mind Mall".
Even if this review seems more critical than I was of season 1, I still enjoyed it around the same. The show being renewed feels like a miracle after all of the factors against it. I'm intrigued by the new living Bryke/ghost Monkey dynamic and I hope they get to explore it further in a season 3. If they do, I also hope the creators get to use Marvel characters again and they seem to have specific plans for Deadpool in particular.
Latest blog update (November 5th, 2022).

The show finally came out, so i figured it deserved it's own thread.
Has anyone else here watched it?
