Its funny how the "Cyclops is right" and "Rightclops" meme was born cause of the massive case of Unintentionally Sympatheic Scott got.

Simply because Scott became slightly more militarized in protecting. He wasn't event going mutant supremacist like Magneto or anything, he was like "We have fo always be prepared and take a hard stance against those who would hurt us."

Yet he became villainized by his friends for going "too far".

Which worsened during Death of X cause all Scott wanted was to stop the Terrigen cloud from gassing mutants to death yet everyone treated him like he's crossing the moral event horizon.

Black Bolt publically executed Cyclops. Well he technically didn't but the point was made that Bolt and Medusa straight up murdered him in front of everyone and no one did anything about it. His friends, not even his younger self didn't even chastise the Inhumans for it, they just allow one of their own to be executed without putting up any sort of fight.

It's not an exagerration that for years Scott came out looking the best out of all the X-Men cause everyone else was reduced to Uncle Tom's for the Inhumans.

After so many genocides against mutants, most people would think a nation state on unoccupied land with a hard militaristic stance would be justified when the Sentinels were first rolled out.

I wonder if Cyclops will be adapted to reach that hard stance if this adaptation reaches that point or be more sympathetic like with the Madelyne business. I wonder if they would just jump into the more dynamic Krakoa era because multiple states failing is succession sounds repetitive.

[up][up]Not in-universe but editorially once Perlmutter was ousted from the MCU the Inhumans, and by extension the Nuhmans other than Ms Marvel, were drastically sidelined into comic book limbo to the point Marvel even created a Death of the Inhumans miniseries.

I’m admittedly not up to date on the Krakoa era but it seems from osmosis that he was treated with more respect during that time

He is, he just didn't have a big presence during it. Sadly Cyclops wasn't really given much focus during the Krakoa era.

Though he looks to be back for main character status in Jed Mac Kay's upcoming X-Men.

[up][up][up] There is an interesting progression there, where Utopia is more of a normal island they decide to inhabit as their main base while Krakoa is significantly very high-concept through them allying with a sentient island and creating a whole new plant-based technology and resources from it.

Personally, if this show adapts the Krakoa era, I will very likely stop watching it. There are certain sagas in X-Men history that I consider to be unsalvageable.

We already kinda got the Krakoa era with what they did with Genosha.

[up][up]Mostly Krakoa, anything Chuck Austen wrote, the X-Men vs Inhumans era, and maybe Onslaught.

They drew from the mutant culture aspect and how things always go wrong at parties for mutants

I suspect the “mutant nation puts universe in economic headlock by distributing immortality drugs and strip mining a cosmic concept’s house” were either too high concept or made it hard for mutants to be an underdog

Its hilarious calling a very successfful era for the franchise "unsalvageable".

It has its issues but comparing Krakoa to Austen or the Inhuamn conflict feels very disproportionate and not really accurate.

Pretty sure we've evaded the Onslaught for now. Think we got pretty close to where we could sound a "panic!" alarm.

[up][up]I just hated the massive retcons needed for the concept to work, but more importantly very few of the characters came off as likable, with even the nicer characters supporting an exclusionary state.

I agree.

One great thing about these adaptations is that there's always an opportunity to take the idea and do it in a way people actually enjoy. I admit, I was curious to see how they'd handle Onslaught.

If they do it, cool. If not, there are plenty of great stories they could try, but I suspect if they go for it, they're gonna go all in and give us the best story they can.

I don't think they'll do Krakoa solely on the basis that they just did Genosha and it would kind of feel like treading old ground. The comics had a pretty large gap between their mutant nation stories.

There is a lot material to mine even if you don't directly use Krakoa.

While the character was excessively overused it has a ton of good Sinister material, taking the character's genetic experimentation to its logical conclusion and introducing the Sinister clones with several distinct characters in Doctor Stasis, Orbis Stellaris, and Mother Righteous along with the primary Sinister and the Sins of Sinister storyline where Sinister has his own dark future where he creates chimera hybrids of mutants under his control.

Plus Enigma if you want a good old God fight. Would be dope to give Jean a God vs God fight while as the Phoenix.

I dunno. Sinister is one of my favorite villains but his defeat here was perfect. Would rather focus on other bad guys. Selene still has never debuted in the show.

And William Stryker as an actual evangelist is something I've always wanted to see adapted. (Don't get me wrong Brian Cox was pretty good as Stryker in X2 but his character is let's be honest actually the Professor)

[up]I'd agree in that Sinister's defeat in this series is the most karmically appropriate defeat he's ever received in the entire franchise and seeing him bounce back so quickly would cheapen it so it would be best to keep him under wraps in the near future. I'd certainly agree in introducing Reverend Stryker as a new villain though.

I feel like this season provided a good enough send-off for Sinister that I'd rather he didn't turn up again afterwards and we just presume he's either rotting in prison or died of old age finally catching him. This season was already big on giving lesser used villains like X-Cutioner, Adversary, and Bastion the spotlight and I'd like if that continued in the next season. Not to mention it'd probably be better to avoid turning Sinister into the Malignant Plot Tumor and Spotlight-Stealing Squad he became in the Post-Hickman Krakoa comics, which was one of the biggest criticisms those books faced.

Apocalypse is clearly going to be the big bad of the next season, but Reverend Stryker is an obvious pick for a secondary antagonist, since "God Loves, Man Kills" is one of the few major 80s/90s stories that hasn't been adapted in some form or another by the original run or 97. I could also see villains like Emplate, the Demon Bear, or a rematch with the Phalanx if I'm right in my suspicion that they might be adapting some New Mutants/Generation X stories in season two, what with Jubilee and Sunspot being among the only members of the central team not scattered through time.

I would like to see even more out-there picks for villains in future seasons, for them to try and tackle more obscure types of baddies that prior media hasn't touched. The real obscurities like Damian Tryp, Isolationist, the Neo, First Fallen, Sublime, and so on.

The U-Men would be an interesting thing to adapt. People that envy mutants and appropriate them, uh, through organ theft.

Do you think Madelyne will return as a horseman of Apocalypse? I have mixed feelings about it. On one hand, I would love to see more of Maddie. On the other hand, there's a big risk of it feeling like a rehash of Fire Made Flesh.
