Nice to have a thread for this. Easily one of the best anime this season.
I definitely think Kage has been helping out Bojji in secret. The knives weren’t poisoned, the meat was. Someone didn’t want Bojji to eat the meat. Who else could it be but Kage?
Domas was already suspect when he was talking to Hakuro about following orders. Because they’re soldiers.
How convenient that we get to meet a crazed king right after the jester-looking guy talks about how the top kings tended to go cuckoo after getting the divine gift, whatever that is.
The black horse of the season, more people should give it a chance, and with the faster pacing on Episode 4 there's a chance WIT Studio is planing to cover quite as many volumes worth of content as they can.
The one thing people should keep in mind while watching the anime is that all characters are more than what they initially seem, yes even the ones people are more inclined to dislike right now, they have hidden depths.
The show has done a marvelous job of fleshing out the characters. The queen, for example, initially appears as a haughty lady who wants to bring down Bojji to prop up her own son as the next king. Then we see her side of the story, that she is truly worried about Bojji and part of the reason she wants the kid to step down is because she really believes he would have difficulty bearing the responsibility.
Episode 5:
Well, it looks like a lot of people were right: It was Kage protecting Bojji under Bebin's orders. Even better, Kage was beside him all along!!! Now, those two are under some weird king... Meanwhile, Daida witnessed in horrific detail the Magic Mirror's plan to make Daida stronger, but just as he was about to take it, he refused (THANK GOD).
I should be more worried about the cloaked person in Apeas's flashbacks though...
I Knew It! Kage was protecting Bojji all along. I’m not even gonna deny that I teared up when both of them started bawling.

The cloaked person is obviously the entity who’s inside the mirror now. Speaking of which, I certainly didn’t expect them to use a royal corpse slushie to birth a phoenix so they can use it for an elixir. That was a disturbing sequence of events and honestly, props to Daida for having the strength to deny ill-gotten power.
Seriously. So many things happened in this episode alone. I’m digging the look of the king in the fiery pit, he looks the part of the ruler of the underworld. Interesting how he mentions that Bojji was cursed to have his strength taken away from him, seems like the mysterious mirror lady is the reason Bojji is the way he is.
Hyakuro is a bro. Also interesting that Domas lops off the hand he used to push Bojji to his doom. Yep, that’s gonna haunt him for the rest of his days.

Episode 6:
Basically, WTF, APEAS followed by Cool Bojji dodging only for him and Kage to have stumbled upon the wrong person... Major Reveals: The Person in the Mirror was revealed to be Miranjo, and the potion she made was not for Daida to become stronger... In hindsight, the former isn't that surprising. That, and Daida drinking the potion was inevitable as they forced it upon him. Can't wait to see what Desha's brother Despa has to offer to Bojji!
The Underground town is my kind of jam. What a wonderfully Halloween place. Also how hilarious is it that the king of the Underworld is named Desha?
Honestly Bebin was doing some heavy lifting behind the scenes. What a guy.
As for the potion I think Bosse will get revived in Daida’s body. Why else would Apeas agree to whatever Miranjo’s plotting? And this also means that Bosse was involved in some real shady stuff.
Bojji did some DBZ levels of dodging there. And damn am I happy Kage is there for Bojji. He’s been a great bro.
Despa is already a hit with just his introduction. Definitely did not expect that VA for him; looking forward to what wisdom he has to impart.
Episode 7:
Basically Despa training Bojji. Bojji may not be able to be physically strong, but he still has potential. Now to figure out what Bojji's training in... Something that gets Bojji tired every day, something that would surprise Kage, something that gets Bojji's hands scarred, something that can enable him to break a boulder... Maybe it could be some martial art, but it was based on what Bojji chose in the weapons room, so it couldn't possibly be that... Maybe it could be knuckles or something...
Also, two relevant things: (1) as the son of giants, Bojji can swallow anything, and it wouldn't hurt him, and (2) Daida was basically used as a vessel for Bosse to return, and it wasn't the first time...
I knew Despa was gonna rock from the moment he was shown, and man, this dandy, self-assured money-grubber does not disappoint. I love him already, he's the perfect mentor for our little prince. Also he does manage to get Bojji to a level where he can split a giant boulder in half. What the heck!
And speaking of Bojji, d'awww, the good boy wasn't gonna let Kage toil away at his behalf. His attempt to do household chores was weapons-grade adorable. Oh, and his cooking seems to be weapons-grade too. Hilarious way to tell us that yes, Bojji has giant blood.
I'm also curious about what Bojji's weapon will be. I'm leaning towards a katana, or a rapier. Those would let him capitalize on his speed and evasiveness.
I also called it. Bosse is back, in Daida's body. Guess he can join the group of great anime dads. Bondrewd and Shou Tucker would welcome him warmly.

Episode 8:
The parts of the manga that have so far not been adapted into the anime are adapted here: Bosse's deal with the Devil, about Bojji's mother and how the Kingdom of Bosse was founded, and Bebin's backstory. These served as a background for everyone learning of Bosse's ressurection with Daida as the vessel and Bebin being ALIVE.
Loved the part where Daida!Bosse asked Mirror who's the strongest of them all. Really brings the Snow White element to this medieval tale!
Now, I'm still conflicted with Domas, I'm worried about Hiling, and I'm wondering what Daida!Bosse said to Dorsche. Oh, and I'm also excited to see what Bojji learnt with Despa!!

The series is authored by a 45 years old man who quit his salaryman life to realize his dream, it is never too late to try and become a mangaka even if statistically any success in this profession is reserved for those who start and perfect their craft while they are young.

So yeah, a lot of our theories are correct. Really glad Bebin is still alive. And I’m a bit surprised Bosse has already revealed himself to his people. I have a feeling he’s going to work behind the scenes to undermine whatever Miranjo and the demon are scheming. Basically trying to atone for his sins and doing right by Bojji. Speaking of Bojji they’re still teasing us with his weapon, I still think it’s a rapier of some sort.
I guess Domas and Hokuro now get to be their own merry adventurer duo, haha.
That is amazing. And somehow the thought that the author opted for this sort of fairy-tale-esque story is heartwarming. Like he found the courage to let his inner child tell his story to the world.
Episode 9:
Dorsche's backstory, Hiling finding out about Bosse's revival, Hiling vowing to fight against her resurrected husband, a very emotional scene with Daida and Hiling, a fight scene with Dorsche protecting the queen from beasts sent to assassinate her thanks in part to Miranjo, and a warning to Dorsche to leave and bide time (I'm sure this means he'll meet Bojji soon). I still have to wonder what Bojji learned from Despa though... Heard that'll be addressed next week!
Hiling is the goddamn mother of the year.
Dorshe flexing his muscles so hard his armor bursts off was the coolest moment in an already cool fight scene.
Bosse is definitely working around Miranjo’s schemes. Probably can’t do anything more than subtle plays because of his magically binding contract with that demon. Seriously loving how many factors are at play here.
And that last line where Daida wonders if “this is what it’s like to live in brother’s world?” Magnificent. Honestly no one deserves being trapped in lightless oblivion.

Episode 10:
To those who guessed that Bojji's weapon of choice was some sort of épée, you would be correct! It seems like Bojji might have trained under fencing! This episode showcased all that Bojji learned (albeit staged, but we only learn of this after the fact). Then, we learn of how Bojji was able to move so quickly: lessons from Mitsumata. Then, Bojji learned of his kingdom's conspiracy and resolved to go home. Meanwhile, someone has been craving rats lately...
I would really want to know the three important things Despa drilled into Bojji. On the other hand, it would make for an excellent meme.

Yes, it's a rapier! And Bojji has now learned how to channel Kenshiro from Fist of the North Star. Feels good to see him kick some ass.
Despa gleefully taking back the money he was gonna give the ogre was hilarious. Despa is just amazing in general.
I also think it's cool that Bojji had the initiative to learn how to become stronger, even before he had formal training under Despa. It establishes that his speed, evasiveness and instincts are not purely from natural talent. And he trained under a twin-headed snake monster, that's metal.
It's really sad that Bojji is doubting Hiling and Hokuro, but it's understandable he's going to find it hard to trust them again. I don't even wanna think about Domas. At least Kage snapped him out of his funk. As a king, he'll need to have the courage to face his doubts head on.
Bebin is a good boy who takes care of other good boys. The one eating the rats, probably not.

The "three rules of swordsmanship" scene was such a good joke, and probably stuff that will trickle down to the viewers later on.
Bit off topic, but what is Amphibia?

This is one of the best anime I've seen in literal years, and I've been hooked increasingly on it for months at this point. The way that each character is dynamic and has layers to how they act, even the minor ones, even the ones you're initially led to think are character-types, is just beautiful to watch unfold.
Episode 11:
Through Daida, we got a glimpse of who Miranjo was. It certainly explains the possible Uncanny Valley when her face is revealed. Then, as Hokuro and Domas were still in training, and as Hiling was out on an excursion, Des-ha found out that some criminals have escaped the underworld (likely Miranjo's doing). He sent the guards to retrieve them and take the Kingdom of Bosse.
Black the Brunet, Red the Copperhead, Gigan, Zokku, Kingbo, and Ouken... Can't wait to meet them and see them defeated!
New trailer for the 2nd cour

A thread for Ousama Ranking because at this point, I cannot help but start a thread to express what the recent episode has done to me.
I don't think I will ever forgive Domas for what he has done to Bojji! I seriously want him dead for pushing Bojji into Hell itself!
Apart from that, I felt that the Rule of Three could apply here: Bojji had 2 near-death experiences and possibly fell (no pun intended) for the last one. Also, the other fora seem to be hypothesizing that it was Kage who threw the poisonous throwing knives, trying to protect Bojji from Domas, the real threat. Either way, it is clear that I'm not ready for next week's episode.
