So it's not a 1:1 to the MCU Go TG like others (well one person) have said on this forum?
the’re clearly based off the MCU versions, but the characters personalities are more nuanced IMO with Peter (who comes across as less childish and a bit more mature) and Gamora (who’s more laid back than her MCU version was) being the biggest examples. They’re backstories in this are also more accurate to the comics.

GUNDAMU GUNDAMUIt's more of a mix of the comic and MCU versions. Drax in particular is much more close to his comic version, both in looks, but also in personality. He's not a barely functional manchild.
I do like that you can play Peter more serious and leader like. The game gives you options on how to respond to dialogue and you do have the option to play Peter as someone who is supportive of his whole team.
Still fairly early in the game
I liked Rocket admitting he divided the teams so he'd be with Peter and Groot because he missed the three of them just hanging out
My only major gripes with this game are that due to the fact that there is a lot of in game dialogue (thankfully mostly well written and funny) it tends to get cut off if you progress too fast. Also I’ve encountered a few bugs so far (playing this on PS 5 by the way). Nothing game ruining though, but there was a moment where a squeeze-through sequence wouldn’t activate for me. Hopefully this gets fixed through patches.
GUNDAMU GUNDAMUI've watched clips of the game.
The story is pretty solid & enjoyable in its own right, but I'm pretty worn out about this whole Teeth-Clenched Teamwork & Vitriolic Best Buds. I'm not the biggest GOTG fan but this is like the 4th time the GOTG has been portraying like this? Can't say I'm a fan of Gamora's portrayal this time around either. She's a lot less uptight but her snarks get annoying when everyone else doing it.
Maybe it is time to check out DnA's run. Get a better perspective & idea of what the GOTG has been about.
I'm reminded of Skill-Up's review, he did state that the game is effectively an origin story for the Guardians. Not how they formed but how they became a team and learned to trust each other. So its pretty much another "group of assholes learn to trust each other after spending the majority of the story hating each other." He even makes a point of saying that without Drax the story would fall apart as he's the only sane man and mediator of the team. Without him the story would just be Quill, Rocket, and Gamora just nonstop treating each other horribly.
Oh the Dn A run, I read that one. Pretty fun stuff yeah, lotta spectacle, fun stories, and plus a large cast so there is a good variety in personality and relationship's among the cast. I especially enjoyed Drax's relationship with his daughter-in-law Phyla and his daughter Moondragon. He's a pretty solitary sullen guy but you can tell he cares greatly for them being willing to lower his barriers to them and they care greatly for him too, forming a father/daughter team with him throughout the story.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."I don't know if I should buy the game. The strongest video game machine I own is a PS 4 and I'm strapped on cash until the new year. I'm watching Twitch streams, though there's a lot of conflict between the characters, the banter is great. There are so many moments without music but it's most likely due to licencing. It's unjust but it's good foresight of content claiming bots to include such an option.
Chewbacca and Tron at the beginning gave me a good laugh.

Got the game on PS 4 it runs fine, though loading times are long. that said there's few loading screens (only when you die or reload for the most part)
Just beat the game, yeah, this is absolutely going on my GOTY list for this year. I really do hope this does well enough to get a sequel. I actually got “Never Gonna Give You Up” to play during the final boss so that was a fun experience
Okay, I audibly "awwww"'d during the entire scene when the group is planning how to con Lady Hellbender, and Rocket immediately shoots down Groot's idea of selling himself to Lady Hellbender because, to quote, "[he's] not a monster," and that he's an absolute sweetheart (which Groot is).
Hitokiri in the streets, daishouri in the sheets. While I don't think this is the peak depiction of the GOTG like some people are saying I really really like that Drax killed Thanos this time around. Although Drax seems to believe that Thanos is alive somehow. I didn't see all of Drax's dialogue to know what he actually means about Thanos's status.
Thanos is very likely alive
The post credit "Where Are They Now?" Epilogue is amazing. I greatly enjoyed this game.
Cool thing is Drax did once actually kill Thanos, tore his heart out even. Sure Thanos came back but at least Drax has claim to actually killing Thanos with his bare hands once.
Hopefully they do something fun with Thanos if he appears in the sequel. Maybe something with the Annihilation War or the Cancerverse.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."In one of the optional conversations with Gamora, she mentions overhearing Thanos talking with Lady Death, so I think we can tell where this is probably going.
GUNDAMU GUNDAMUI will say, heads up to anyone playing on PS 4, have two saves in every chapter. Twice the game crashed on me during a cutscene and corrupted my save. And the problem is while you keep all your unlocks, if you lose your save you can't advance the story (Chapter selection mode doesn't let you unlock subsequent chapters if you pick your last unlocked chapter). And if you dont update your second save every chapter you're gonna have a lot of the game to replay.
So make sure to have two save slots going or one of those crashes will literally kill your entire story progress.
Considering the soulstone is a major plot trinket that seems likely

Is the game really that buggy right now?
I thought it was heading towards Thanos Imperative but what would I know? I skimmed through that.
Okay I've finally started playing the game, just finished the mission on the Nova base after the Lady Hellbender debacle.
Pretty good though I do think they go a bit too hard on the dysfunctional team dynamic. Especially in the Nova base mission where its just nonstop arguing and Rocket is just being a relentless asshole cause he complains about everything.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."From the looks of it they decomposited the character. Moondragon appears to be a human Earth-born wizard and entirely unrelated to Drax who is a Katathian. Notably Drax didn't respond or make any comment when her criminal file was brought up with the actual comment being Rocket and Quill noticing another human off Earth.
Which granted could change for the sequel maybe she got resurrected into a new body who knows.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."

I figured this game should have it’s own thread seeing as it came out yesterday.
I decided to preorder the game on a whim, and I’m glad I did cuz it’s been immensely enjoyable so far. (I’m on chapter 9 so far)
Honestly it feels like everything Marvel's Avengers should have been. The gameplay is fun (if kinda jank at points) and the story and characterization is really, really good (frankly I actually prefer this interpretation of Star Lord and Gamora to their MCU counterparts).
