It's awfully weird that there wasn't a thread for this romance visual novel until now. I almost thought of necroing the Amagami SS thread over at Anime & Manga, but the last comment was from 2014 (a whopping seven years ago), and I'm worried folks will think I'm dropping news of an English dub or something.

Anyway, honest question: what would you guys like to see in a hypothetical updated re-release of this game for modern consoles?

I'd personally like to see:

  • Support for English and other languages.
  • Versions for Nintendo Switch and Steam, at the very least (especially since the Switch is a handheld like the PSP and PS Vita were and Steam is practically a haven for dating sims).
  • High resolution images and portraits, either upscaled from the original VN or brand new and drawn from scratch. Plus, a gallery where you can see them whenever you want.
  • New routes! Especially for underrated girls like Maya and Hibiki (my second-favorite, Ai's my first-favorite). (Yes, I know they technically already got routes thanks to the Amagami Chotto Omake Gekijou fandisks, but still.)
  • Maybe take some cues from the anime, Amagami SS+ plus, and their OVAs, and have extended arcs that take place after the main ones?

"Support for English and other languages."

Ni-shi-shi Translations have released unofficial patches for the PSP and PS2 versions of Amagami. As of July 2022, it appears their translations are complete.

"Versions for Nintendo Switch and Steam, at the very least (especially since the Switch is a handheld like the PSP and PS Vita were and Steam is practically a haven for dating sims)."

The last official version of Amagami was on PS Vita during 2014. It would be nice to see this title on computers and recent consoles. Having said that, it surprises me which visual novels get reissues, remakes, and localizations. I thought Yu-No was a forgotten IP, but it got a translated remake. I thought Famicom Detective Club was a forgotten IP, but it also got a translated remake.

(I updated this post after the fan translation was finished.)
