I didn't phrase that very well, but I'll save my concerns for wick cleaning.
Advertised the crowner on ATT.
One argument for renaming is that it is easy to misunderstand the trope name as being about the pronunciation of Saint-Tropez, France (which is mentioned in the trope description) rather than a fancy (mis-) pronunciation of "trope". I fell into exactly that trap myself.
I guess this is the cause of much of the misuse: if you think the trope name refers to someone having trouble pronouncing a foreign name, then you'll of course write trope examples about that.
So, in short, I think the trope should be renamed because the current name encourages misuse.
All options are pretty popular and none are exclusive?
Rename, In-Universe-ify, and split off the YMMV?
So, what's the new name(s)?
"Split off examples about pronunciation trouble into a new trope."

There's no YMMV option. Or at least, I didn't think there was when I voted for the split... I wouldn't have voted for it if it was explicitly subjective.
No, I wasn't intending on the split-off trope to be subjective.
If there are not enough examples for characters having trouble pronouncing a word, we can yard it.

From the thread: Pretentious Pronunciation, Pretentious Posh Pronunciation, Insistent Pretentious Pronunciation, Fancy Faux Foreign Phonetics, Fancy Faux Pronunciation, Fancy Faux Foreign Pronunciation, Nonstandard Fancy Pronunciation, Insistent Pronunciation, Pretentious Preferred Pronunciation, Preferred Pretentious Pronunciation

I think only Pretentious Pronunciation, Insistent Pretentious Pronunciation, Nonstandard Fancy Pronunciation, Insistent Pronunciation, and Preferred Pretentious Pronunciation got support in the thread so we should narrow the options to those. Plus, the last two names in your reply are literally the same regardless of the positioning of the words.
I prefer Pretentious Preferred Pronunciation (since it's a preferred pronunciation that is pretentious) over Preferred Pretentious Pronunciation over the suggestions I gave. I think I was tired when I gave those suggestions, so I couldn't decide on the word order.
Edit: Here's an Alt Titles crowner.

Okay, I swapped it in.
I added Faux Fancy Pronunciation, since it seems to make more grammatical sense than Fancy Faux Pronunciation (which is already on the crowner).
Btwm, Pronouncing My Name for You was just launched.
I could have sworn I thought to add Faux Fancy Pronunciation originally (I mainly copied the crowner options from Tabs's post), but I guess it slipped through the cracks because I was busy looking back and forth between the crowner and the list of existing name suggestions (I was tired when I made the crowner due to my sleep schedule being messed up).
Edit: I just advertised the crowner on ATT.

Pretentious Pronunciation it is. Calling.
Other options with a 2:1 or better ratio will be redirects.
(disables mod mode)
While I prep for moving the page, we should pool together the examples of pronunciation trouble so we can TLP or yard it. Which method do we prefer?
As for sandboxes, I'll start one for the splitoff here. We'll also need to deal with on-page examples.

Should only examples of someone getting corrected (or the mistake getting pointed out in-story) be allowed for the "pronunciation trouble" trope?
Being corrected counts if the correction isn't done poshly.
There's one video example, but it might fit the splitoff better.

I fixed the redirects to point to the new location. Indexing still needs to be migrated.
Edit: I changed the indexing on the index pages that have "Tropes" in their names (none of them had "index" in their names). I also updated the Overdosed Tropes entry, but I did so as a stopgap because I'd imagine the wick count will go down a decent amount after we clean up the bad wicks (similarly to what happened with Ear Worm after it was made IUEO).
Edit: Added to Renamed Tropes, the Renamed Tropes thread, and JustForFun.Trope Epitaph Renamed Tropes.

I moved the subpages, but I didn't do any cleanup yet (though I have no doubt that they need it). Putting aside whether we can even have PretentiousPronunciation.Real Life with the IUEO restriction, I skimmed some of the page and saw misuse right away, so I'm not entirely sure whether we'd keep the page even if it is compatible with IUEO.
Edited by GastonRabbit on Oct 19th 2021 at 1:38:17 PM
A glance up and down the whole page suggests it's entirely meta/natter. Cutworthy. Definitely not enough for a subpage and I doubt it will be any time soon.
Bumping. Is there anything worth keeping on PretentiousPronunciation.Real Life? As said, it's not really compatible with In-Universe Examples Only.
Generally the only acceptable RL examples for an IUEO trope would be like, if someone did it in a non-fiction work (eg. an autobiography or a stand-up comedy set). Nothing sticks out to me (although I may have missed something) so it can go.
I don't have a problem with cutting the Real Life subpage if it's just meta stuff instead of autobiographical or stand-up comedy stuff.

Moved that one. It's better on Pronouncing My Name for You. I don't see anything else after a pass. There's a John Cleese thing, but it's just a deliberate mispronunciation. The Conan one seems accidental.
