Needs Help: Mind Manipulation

So, we're on like, the second day, with... I guess maybe 10 votes, I guess? But big consensus on just swapping with current redirect Mind Control as the new name of the Super-Trope+Index...

What's the description gonna be?

Currently, it's this... We could just swap "trope" for "index"...

I have a question: what are we going to do about stuff on the index that doesn't inherently involve mind control, like Manipulative Bastard?

Made a crowner since two suggestions (turning this into a supertrope and swapping the name Mind Manipulation with Mind Control) have had a lot of positive feedback.

Bumping because the crowner never got hooked. I also removed the "not mutually exclusive with..." parenthetical text from all the individual crowner entries and added "Options are not mutually exclusive" to the header, since none of the options are mutually exclusive with each other. (I didn't change anything else in the options' text, so nobody's votes were changed.)

Think we can call it.

I migrated the indexing, moved the page, and submitted a Locked Pages request for the discussion page to be moved (which I'm waiting for before posting a notice on the discussion page). We still need to update the description, but I already updated the Laconic (which was as simple as removing a part that says "An index about...").

Edit: Added to Administrivia.Renamed Tropes and the Renamed Tropes thread in the meantime.

Edit: Tweaked the description a bit to remove the index-specific text and make it more clear that it's a trope now, but I wouldn't be surprised if it needs more work.

Edit: Further sorted the indexing now that it's a supertrope and not just an index.

Yes, wick cleanup needs to be done.

I thought we were leaving the wicks alone followingn the Distressed Damsel example?

Only focus on wicks pointing to specific tropes. Leave the rest alone unless it's a ZCE.

For the Mind Manipulation wicks, those can be moved accordingly.

I posted a notice on the discussion page (since I neglected to after it was moved to Mind Control several days ago).

As for wick cleanup, I didn't know there were any wicks to be left alone when writing my previous post.

MM has less than 1K wicks...

Compared to MC's 3K+...

And there was ~100+ duplication of entries last I checked.

The hard issue is figuring out what Sub-Trope to use for most examples? I think?

Since Mind Control is a very broad supertrope, I don't think it needs on-page examples. There are plenty of other broad supertropes that don't have on-page examples.

Should we make more sub-tropes so it's easier to sort? If so, what subtropes?

All of the ones listed on the page? Or are you looking for subcategories to group them under?

If most Mind Manipulation / Mind Control examples are Swiss-Army Superpower examples as well...

Or Keystone Superpower...

If not, I wonder if the reason is that the brainwashing "to evil" part is assumed, so the inverse is notable enough to be documented separately.
