4/10
I dislike token tropes on general principle. This is no exception.
Just a simple man, making my way through the Tropes.6.5/10. There are funny sex-related tropes, but this one is sort of whatever.
The Friendly Texan Orcus on His Throne will always be my pet peeve.
6/10. It's better to spread positive stereotypes of people than negative ones.
Fjón þvæ ég af mér fjanda minna rán og reiði ríkra manna.
6/10. Like most Fanservice tropes, it exists and I don't usually have anything for or against it.
Déjà vu, tell you what I'm gonna do, when they reminisce over you, my God
8/10 A good way to prevent that one trope.
Weird Moon Hot take: I actually like Yoshi's New Island and it's soundtrack.
7/10, though it depends a lot on the character. It could be really annoying, or it could be the funniest part of the work.

7/10. Typically depends on whether the work is suited for it, but it's typically handled pretty well.
Murder Is the Best Solution Orcus on His Throne will always be my pet peeve.
…Alright, Hear Me Out: So, for obvious reasons, IRL this is not the case, getting the legal disclaimer out of the way now. This is not me answering from a real life perspective, strictly in the context of fiction… so with that being said, my thoughts on the matter:
- If It's Played for Laughs: I'd give it a solid 8.3/10, if for no other reason than how morbid the punchline is, going from mundanity to lethal force in an instant. And on that darkly comedic thread, you can either play with people obviously shooting the idea down… or doubling down in agreement, and either way, ya got a keeper of a gag.
- If It's Played Seriously: This is where it gets harder for me to parse the trope's utilization (and hence I have to score it 5/10). If the narrative hasn't sincerely built up to this point, you run the risk of alienating the viewer from rooting for the character involved who pitched this trope, as it'd feel essentially hamstrung with zero rhyme or reason… but on the flipside, if the situation really IS that bad… then you got yourselves a Wham Line that'll turn this whole story COMPLETELY around. It all has to do with (pardon the pun) execution.
Letting the Air out of the Band Self-professed Wild Card who thinks cynicism isn't so bad.
4/10, serviceable enough but I vastly prefer when the music cuts out entirely all at once. It gives the bad moment that much more impact.
The legend has returned.7/10. Can help make a character less of an insufferable idiot... unless...
Insufferable Genius I sadly doubt he would like Popeyes, though...
5/10. They can be a bit unlikable at times.
Big Damn Heroes I love animation, TV, movies, YOU NAME IT!
IF, and i REALLY mean IF it's executed well... it's amazing. 10/10.
if it comes out of left field, it sucks ass. 2/10.
average score comes out to 6/10, but i'll give it extra points for when it's amazing. 8/10.
Battle in the Center of the Mind
Welcome, my little friend! Or should I say...friends?9/10. It's a good way to visualize an internal conflict and make it look more interesting for the audience.
Purple Prose Déjà vu, tell you what I'm gonna do, when they reminisce over you, my God
5/10: If you lose interest in the whole thing only because the text is needlessly verbose, yes, that's a problem.
But hey, sometimes it just makes sense to go into more detail — as long as it's not just out of amateur pretentiousness.
It also works fine when parodied.
Bare-Fisted Monk?
With that out of the way... I still find the trope good. After all, martial arts are still cool.

Oo oo ah ah7.5/10. Usually effective, though not necessarily the most unique trope.
Kafka Komedy Orcus on His Throne will always be my pet peeve.
0/10 I hate seeing good people getting screwed over, especially since it happens a lot in Real Life.
Mammals Are Superiornote Google Snake Game.

7.4/10. In stark contrast to the Troper above, I'm admittedly rather FOND of this trope. I'm a sadistic fucking writer, I am a massive part of the problem of writers who gleefully use the Butt-Monkey trope, so I've been know to use this one pretty liberally too. I don't overuse it, but I do have a bias. (Feel free to send me your DMs telling me why I'm wrong.)
Cruel Twist Ending Self-professed Wild Card who thinks cynicism isn't so bad.
1/10. There's a reason why the laconic for this page calls it "spiteful" and "mean-spirited".
Tbh I never really hated his minigames in the original, but they did make them better in the remake.
9/10, I love me a good polite villain, especially when they're still extremely dangerous despite said politeness.
The legend has returned.![]()
8.5/10, it helps make a villain stand out from the usual Jerkass villains, along with being entertaining.
5/10 a function trope, so no strong feelings.

"Give our Captain back, you jerks!"

5/10, it's not a common Scottish stereotype that I see.

The legend has returned.
