Character-Specific Pages (CSPs) are created when individual characters have so many trope examples that they can't reasonably be included on a shared page.
The Administrivia Character-Specific Pages policy details the rules that apply to these pages. All Character-Specific Pages must also follow the basic How to Create a Character Page policy, as well as the wiki's more general policies about spoilers and examples.
This cleanup thread handles the following tasks:
- Reviewing and approving new CSP proposals. All new potential CSPs must be reviewed and, if necessary, cleaned up before they're created.
- Agreeing on page names for new CSPs.
- Ensuring that wicks are updated when a new CSP is created.
- Reviewing existing CSPs if there's a concern that they need cleanup, or if it's believed that the character may no longer qualify for a page.
- Merging existing CSPs into other character pages when necessary.
- Ensuring that wicks are updated when a CSP is removed/merged.
- Creating, updating and cutting redirects, as necessary, to reflect these splits and merges.
Crowners are not normally required but, where appropriate, can be used to formalise decisions on any of these points.
If a character no longer qualifies for a CSP, it's often more practical to turn the CSP into a redirect than to cut the page entirely. This keeps the page history visible to users, and also helps to steer offsite 'inbound' traffic (search engine results) to the right place. With that in mind, cut requests for CSPs may be declined and referred to this thread if they don't have a clear consensus.
Comments linking back to this thread can be added to CSPs when needed - e.g. to confirm their creation was approved, to warn tropers that a cleanup is in progress, or to note the date and outcome of a more recent review.
We also have some more general threads for character page help -
- Character Page Cleanup
: for trope misuse, zero-context examples, spoiler tagging issues etc.
- Are these character tropes?
: for queries about whether particular tropes belong on a character page or on the work's page.
- Character pages for the Marvel Cinematic Universe have a dedicated thread here
.
This is not a policy discussion thread, it's a cleanup thread — any requests for policy changes need to be raised in Wiki Talk.
Mod update 07 Mar 2024, reflecting new CSP policy, updated again 22 Mar 2024 to mention redirects for removed CSPs
- Other options must have been tried first, like splitting pages into further groups.
- The character's folder is cleaned up beforehand, fixing any Zero-Context Examples and Wall of Text entries and removing any outdated, misused, or non-character tropes.
- A character's folder is at least 6,000 words/40,000 characters (with spaces). Here
is a byte counter.note
- The current character page bypasses technical limitations and requires a split up.
- A single character takes up the majority of a page or is disproportionately bigger than other folders.
Splitting a character into their own page is a major change and needs to be run by the community before it is enacted. Even if you believe a character meets these requirements, they should be run through this thread first. Having other tropers take a look can help spot issues you may not notice or believe to be issues.
Per How to Create a Character Page, character-specific pages should only include tropes that describe the character. These tropes should fall under Characterization Tropes or one of its related indexes, unless they're recurring character traits (distinctive things that the character does repeatedly). If you're unsure what counts as a character trope, you can ask the Are these Character Tropes?
thread.
If you have concerns with a general character page, they have their own separate cleanup thread
, as do the self-demonstrating character pages
.

Elektra is both too small, and shouldn't it be Marvel Comics Elektra (or Daredevil Elektra)?
I'm stopping by here to see if the two pages submitted by ~Senor Cornholio are being discussed here or somewhere else. I'm referring to Characters.Digimon Biomerge Digimon and Characters.Digimon Three Gods Of Destruction. Characters.Digimon would theoretically be the central hub.
Link to TRS threads in project mode here.Actually, there are so many Digimon that they've been split up by level and sorted by alphabetical order, while split into subpages depending on overall length. We've been trying to make as much sense of this as possible. I've been trying to clean up the pages as of late, especially since the more extraneous pages have been of my creation. I would like to keep as many groups officially acknowledged by Bandai as possible.
Plus, the Biomerge page was one made without a viable source.

Ada Wong (on the Resident Evil 2 page) is 43,916 characters and 43,940 bytes. I didn't even have any input on editing it yet, ever, but I just noticed that going through notable characters, she would just be eligible by default as it is now.
Given she's one of the most recurring major characters in the series, can she get one?
Been a while.
For something a bit more fresh, I made a sandbox for Irredeemable Plutonian after filling up his profile to reach 40,331 bytes. Double-checking to make sure if he's good to go, or if there are a few things I can iron out, thanks.
Done. Also sent the sandbox to the cut list.

WHERE IS KRYPTO, I mean, WHERE IS THE DOG!!!so I have Jill Valentine on a sandbox with (at the time of writing) 40,135 characters and 40,141 bytes. I just want it to be seen before launching in comparison with its intact page on the RE1 sheet for the usual discrepancies, QL check, etc.

EDIT Note: So just let me know when/if it can go through as an individual page since, after seeing the comment below, I just instated her updated/cleaned tropes and word volume into the Resident Evil 1 sheet for now. Clearing my sandbox of Jill so I can just do minor editing work on other stuff not intended to be individual pages, etc

Characters. My Hero Academia All For One is nearing 325,000 bytes. Does his page need to be broken up anytime soon?

Mainly for ![]()
Generally, apart from minor contributions, work is 100% done on this page until I decide to work on a separate monster page.
- An image representing the whole team was added to a blank page.
Alpha Team
- Jill Valentine: Quality Check, minor updates. She is now at 42,407 bytes based on someone else also chiming in on editing yesterday. Can I go through with making her character page now?
- Barry Burton: A lot of YMMV cleanup, quality of life changes, added tropes
- Albert Wesker (redirect): no changes
- Joseph Frost: Newly added
- Brad Vickers: Very minor quality updates like emphasizing his nickname on his headline; next to no changes.
Bravo Team
- Rebecca Chambers: New description, heavy text edits, quality control, an image added of her current canonical appearance (age 34) now supports her old one (age 18)
- Richard Aiken: Minor updates (appearances/mentions line, etc)
- Enrico Marini: Minor updates (appearances/mentions line, etc)
- Forest Speyer: Newly added
- Kenneth J.Sullivan: Newly added
- Edward Dewey: Newly added
Other Characters
- Lisa Trevor: Minor updates (appearances/mentions line, etc). Also, I pulled her from the monster section to here since she should definitely be emphasized more as a character.
- George Trevor: Minor updates (appearances/mentions line, etc)
- Kevin Dooley: Pulled from Resident Evil 0 page (I don't know why he was there), significant text updates, added image to blank folder

: Wow, those examples are a lot longer than what I'm used to seeing. I'd say to trim those down and then check the byte counter.
(x4) I'd say to move any non-characterization Tropes and keep track of how many bytes the page has.
Almost every example at My Hero Academia - All For One are entire paragraphs, creating an impressive page size for one character who's not even present for the most of the plot. I can only suggest organizing a separate effort of some kind to reduce word cruft and disguised recaps.

TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupI have two important things to say with this post
1) So I vaguely asked this before, but can a character that explicitly isn't a breakout character or particularly relevant within the universe of a franchise ever get a character sheet? I've no plans or ideas at the moment, but there are certainly some one-off characters I've noticed just browsing that fit both those criteria - but have a TON of tropes and notable facts from other users.
2) Not something I want to talk about, but I really feel like there are certain people closely watching me on this site. So in my spare time not editing things, I've been looking back on pages I have worked on or constructed in my earliest years only out of fear things long overlooked by accident might get me in trouble.
The most egregious example is before I even knew what a Sandbox really was or how to construct pages, I used to simply ask another troper that was pretty involved with that business to make pages for me only if he felt it was appropriate. This page is 28k bytes and something I don't think can ever reach 40k+ capacity even after all I've done for it then, so can I just have it reverted by someone and placed back on to this page?
If it's asked, there's nothing else like it lurking; I once asked for Arcane's Silco to get his page like those circumstances, but that was undone and redone later. That was it.
Edited by Sung-Hwan on Aug 24th 2022 at 8:42:54 AM
Yes a one off character can get a page but it's rare and I say you are good to revert there.
okay well thanks for taking that whole post well. I hope it's resolved.
That aside, I don't want to make this page with my own hands but am just raising awareness: Zachary Hale Comstock, the storied Big Bad of Bioshock Infinite, has a near 44k-byte folder dwarfing everything else on the Infinite page. He'd definitely fit the bill for one if someone felt inclined, right? I have noticed for years it's practically all people even visit that page to edit for a while now.

If someone else wants to make him sure, but for now I don't see a reason as he seems fine where he is.
Fan-Preferred Couple cleanup threadYeah My Hero Academia - All For One is ridiculously large and borderline unreadable with how massive the texts are, it needs to be trimmed down to not turning the page into an index in of itself
she/her

I'm ready to publish a page
that would be titled "Umbrella Paramilitaries" and be organized under the WMG and main index under Umbrella's character sheet as just "Paramilitaries." Here's a full change log to address everything I changed or created.
U.S.S.
Non-canon
U.B.C.S.
Monitors
Undertaker Unit
Just going to wait to see if there's any discrepancy or issue.
