Character-Specific Pages (CSPs) are created when individual characters have so many trope examples that they can't reasonably be included on a shared page.
The Administrivia Character-Specific Pages policy details the rules that apply to these pages. All Character-Specific Pages must also follow the basic How to Create a Character Page policy, as well as the wiki's more general policies about spoilers and examples.
This cleanup thread handles the following tasks:
- Reviewing and approving new CSP proposals. All new potential CSPs must be reviewed and, if necessary, cleaned up before they're created.
- Agreeing on page names for new CSPs.
- Ensuring that wicks are updated when a new CSP is created.
- Reviewing existing CSPs if there's a concern that they need cleanup, or if it's believed that the character may no longer qualify for a page.
- Merging existing CSPs into other character pages when necessary.
- Ensuring that wicks are updated when a CSP is removed/merged.
- Creating, updating and cutting redirects, as necessary, to reflect these splits and merges.
Crowners are not normally required but, where appropriate, can be used to formalise decisions on any of these points.
If a character no longer qualifies for a CSP, it's often more practical to turn the CSP into a redirect than to cut the page entirely. This keeps the page history visible to users, and also helps to steer offsite 'inbound' traffic (search engine results) to the right place. With that in mind, cut requests for CSPs may be declined and referred to this thread if they don't have a clear consensus.
Comments linking back to this thread can be added to CSPs when needed - e.g. to confirm their creation was approved, to warn tropers that a cleanup is in progress, or to note the date and outcome of a more recent review.
We also have some more general threads for character page help -
- Character Page Cleanup
: for trope misuse, zero-context examples, spoiler tagging issues etc.
- Are these character tropes?
: for queries about whether particular tropes belong on a character page or on the work's page.
- Character pages for the Marvel Cinematic Universe have a dedicated thread here
.
This is not a policy discussion thread, it's a cleanup thread — any requests for policy changes need to be raised in Wiki Talk.
Mod update 07 Mar 2024, reflecting new CSP policy, updated again 22 Mar 2024 to mention redirects for removed CSPs
- Other options must have been tried first, like splitting pages into further groups.
- The character's folder is cleaned up beforehand, fixing any Zero-Context Examples and Wall of Text entries and removing any outdated, misused, or non-character tropes.
- A character's folder is at least 6,000 words/40,000 characters (with spaces). Here
is a byte counter.note
- The current character page bypasses technical limitations and requires a split up.
- A single character takes up the majority of a page or is disproportionately bigger than other folders.
Splitting a character into their own page is a major change and needs to be run by the community before it is enacted. Even if you believe a character meets these requirements, they should be run through this thread first. Having other tropers take a look can help spot issues you may not notice or believe to be issues.
Per How to Create a Character Page, character-specific pages should only include tropes that describe the character. These tropes should fall under Characterization Tropes or one of its related indexes, unless they're recurring character traits (distinctive things that the character does repeatedly). If you're unsure what counts as a character trope, you can ask the Are these Character Tropes?
thread.
If you have concerns with a general character page, they have their own separate cleanup thread
, as do the self-demonstrating character pages
.

Someone created Gravity Falls Soos and Gravity Falls Wendy Corduroy without making sure they qualified for a split. We're gonna need these cleaned up and remerged.
Character Specific Page cleanupOkay, regarding the Team RWBY page. I've finished the wordcruft/wall of text edits, so the Sandbox.RWBY Team RWBY page has been completed (on that subject). I don't know how that'll change the character count (I'll be very surprised if any of the folders fall below 50k; they won't fall below 40k).
If you want discuss splitting them into individual character pages, feel free.
The Characters.RWBY The Heroes page will act as the index for their links. There's a Team RWBY folder on there already.
The Edit War that got the Characters.RWBY Team RWBY page locked was regarding Blake/Yang shipping, so it occurred in their character folders. It centred on whether Blake was Bi The Way (no longer an issue because Bi The Way no longer exists), and the far more problematic one, which was over Yang being either Ambiguously Gay or Ambiguously Bi (this is the one that could potentially flare back up in the future).
So, the question is, when the character pages are created, will the mods lock all four pages, just the Blake and Yang ones, or just the Yang one?

If my post doesn't mention a giant flying sperm whale with oversized teeth and lionfish fins for flippers, it just isn't worth reading.Since each individual folders of Team RWBY have now been revised, here are the current bytes for each four members so far.
- Ruby - 52,232 bytes
- Weiss - 45,333 bytes
- Blake - 48,269 bytes
- Yang - 50,716
Wow, okay, that was a bigger drop than I expected.
Shall I sandbox the four pages, or does someone else want to do that?

I'll probably sandbox all four eventually.
And as for locking up all four pages, honestly from how I view it just let them be for the time being. From what I understand, the Shipping War fiasco only affected Blake and Yang so it makes no sense for Ruby and Weiss getting their page locked. But if it does turn into an Edit War again in the future and affects both Blake and Yang then sure, lock them for awhile but for now (when all four get their pages anyway) let them be.

Over 900 years, he shall recover his heartbeat. Over 90 years, he shall recover his intellect. Over 9 years, he shall recover his power. If you want to do the pages, that's fine by me.
The only thing I would say is that I don't want it looking like we're circumventing a page lock, so I assume we'd have to run the lock by the mods eventually. I agree with the idea that it makes more sense to lock Blake and Yang and leave Ruby and Weiss unlocked. It would be nice if they could all be unlocked and we see how it goes, but I assume the mods would have the final word on that.

If my post doesn't mention a giant flying sperm whale with oversized teeth and lionfish fins for flippers, it just isn't worth reading. It seems that the Sandboxes have been made by Rinne: RWBY Ruby Rose, RWBY Weiss Schnee, RWBY Blake Belladonna, and RWBY Yang Xiao Long. The contents of each character are all large so I support them being made. We should let the mods know about the pages to not circumvent the lock outside their permission. Can discuss it on this thread or on the Locked pages edit permission thread
she/herThanks for that. I just removed the team introduction from Weiss's page to bring her into line with the others (it can be added to Team RWBY folder on Characters.RWBY The Heroes), and removed the Magic Skirt trope from two of the pages (it's not a character trope).
Quick question about the "In General" folder on the old Team RWBY sandbox (it only has three tropes). Should those three tropes be added into each of the four new pages, or would they be added to the Team RWBY folder on Characters.RWBY The Heroes page?
One question I would ask is this (and I appreciate it might be a question for Image Pickin') — is a character page supposed to have so many images of one character? Each of them have three images per character; when the next story arc begins, I'm assuming they'll end up with a fourth character image for the inevitable outfit change that occurs (there's been an outfit change at the start of every story arc so far). At what point does it get too much?

If my post doesn't mention a giant flying sperm whale with oversized teeth and lionfish fins for flippers, it just isn't worth reading. There’s precedent for stuff like this on Anime pages (where outfits change with arcs) and on other pages like the Arrowverse pages where the heroes' outfits changed almost every season. If there comes a point where we say it’s too much, I’d say we wait to the end to make that call
Also, Supernatural Lucifer was recreated, and while I don't need to check the byte count to know that it's big enough, it once again leaves the rest of the Supernatural: Archangels page too short at 38,757 bytes. Shall I go ahead and move everything back?
Final edit: Also, not gonna lie, I think that leaving the RWBY pages (or at minimum Blake and Yang) unlocked is a bad idea. The page was locked for shipping issues and those have only gotten exponentially worse the closer that Bumblebee comes to being canon - Ruby and Weiss might be fine, but Blake and Yang at least need a lock. I'll take it to the LP thread real quick
to give the mods a heads up.

Wouldn't it be better to merge the remaining archangels with Characters/SupernaturalAngels instead?
Hey. I say merge Lucifer back. We can't merge the OG back and the OG is too small without him. That is just my opinion as the page is easily big enough either way it's just the OG page is not.

Fan-Preferred Couple cleanup threadMaybe we should add a commented out note as to why he can't have a page right now.
Fan-Preferred Couple cleanup threadSomething like:
Please note: While Lucifer is big enough to have his own page, this page would be too small without him. So, please wait until the Archangels page would be over at least 40,000 bytes without him.

The shipping war that occurred was whether to trope Blake as Bi The Way due to fights over whether comments made by her voice actress counted as "confirmed" or not. That's not an issue any more because Bi The Way no longer exists as a trope. The far greater problem were fights over whether to trope Yang as Ambiguously Bi or Ambiguously Gay. Both issues were about bisexuality erasure, not whether people like/dislike Bumblebee. It was the Yang issue that got the page locked (consensus favoured Ambiguously Bi, but every time a consensus was reached, tropers would crawl out of the woodwork to edit war it into Ambiguously Gay + Early-Installment Weirdness).
I understand the desire to lock both pages, and I don't mind whether one or both pages are locked, but I just wanted to clarify why the page was locked — I hate locked pages, so I spent a couple of years trying to build a solid consensus to get the Yang issue resolved; in the end, I washed my hands of it. Yang's page should definitely be locked, but I'm not sure Blake's a problem any more.

a mod's response in regards to the RWBY stuff.
Okay question. This is listed on Live-Action TV:
It has two characters who hold the title or something as best I can tell. So, my question is shouldn't it be listed in Monikers and Legacy Characters section because as is its just listed with single characters? I am not super familiar with the franchise so is anyone here familiar enough with the work to tell me where they should be listed.
