Character-Specific Pages (CSPs) are created when individual characters have so many trope examples that they can't reasonably be included on a shared page.
The Administrivia Character-Specific Pages policy details the rules that apply to these pages. All Character-Specific Pages must also follow the basic How to Create a Character Page policy, as well as the wiki's more general policies about spoilers and examples.
This cleanup thread handles the following tasks:
- Reviewing and approving new CSP proposals. All new potential CSPs must be reviewed and, if necessary, cleaned up before they're created.
- Agreeing on page names for new CSPs.
- Ensuring that wicks are updated when a new CSP is created.
- Reviewing existing CSPs if there's a concern that they need cleanup, or if it's believed that the character may no longer qualify for a page.
- Merging existing CSPs into other character pages when necessary.
- Ensuring that wicks are updated when a CSP is removed/merged.
- Creating, updating and cutting redirects, as necessary, to reflect these splits and merges.
Crowners are not normally required but, where appropriate, can be used to formalise decisions on any of these points.
If a character no longer qualifies for a CSP, it's often more practical to turn the CSP into a redirect than to cut the page entirely. This keeps the page history visible to users, and also helps to steer offsite 'inbound' traffic (search engine results) to the right place. With that in mind, cut requests for CSPs may be declined and referred to this thread if they don't have a clear consensus.
Comments linking back to this thread can be added to CSPs when needed - e.g. to confirm their creation was approved, to warn tropers that a cleanup is in progress, or to note the date and outcome of a more recent review.
We also have some more general threads for character page help -
- Character Page Cleanup
: for trope misuse, zero-context examples, spoiler tagging issues etc.
- Are these character tropes?
: for queries about whether particular tropes belong on a character page or on the work's page.
- Character pages for the Marvel Cinematic Universe have a dedicated thread here
.
This is not a policy discussion thread, it's a cleanup thread — any requests for policy changes need to be raised in Wiki Talk.
Mod update 07 Mar 2024, reflecting new CSP policy, updated again 22 Mar 2024 to mention redirects for removed CSPs
- Other options must have been tried first, like splitting pages into further groups.
- The character's folder is cleaned up beforehand, fixing any Zero-Context Examples and Wall of Text entries and removing any outdated, misused, or non-character tropes.
- A character's folder is at least 6,000 words/40,000 characters (with spaces). Here
is a byte counter.note
- The current character page bypasses technical limitations and requires a split up.
- A single character takes up the majority of a page or is disproportionately bigger than other folders.
Splitting a character into their own page is a major change and needs to be run by the community before it is enacted. Even if you believe a character meets these requirements, they should be run through this thread first. Having other tropers take a look can help spot issues you may not notice or believe to be issues.
Per How to Create a Character Page, character-specific pages should only include tropes that describe the character. These tropes should fall under Characterization Tropes or one of its related indexes, unless they're recurring character traits (distinctive things that the character does repeatedly). If you're unsure what counts as a character trope, you can ask the Are these Character Tropes?
thread.
If you have concerns with a general character page, they have their own separate cleanup thread
, as do the self-demonstrating character pages
.

I’m gonna call in ~Wyldchyld, who’s a prominent editor on those pages, to give her thoughts, but I personally don’t see why not if they meet the requirements.
The only thing I would observe is that both sections need Wall of Text cleaning (but that's true for most of the RWBY character pages). However, given how far over the recommended boundary they both are, I don't imagine a WoT clean-up would bring them back below it.
The guidelines we've got for separating out a character are pretty clear cut, so I don't see why anyone would object to it.

If my post doesn't mention a giant flying sperm whale with oversized teeth and lionfish fins for flippers, it just isn't worth reading.Probably because no-one has got around to it. The page is locked due to edit warring issues in the past. And, while a sandbox of Team RWBY's page was opened, that was opened by a mod (Septimus Heap) at a troper's request to update the page. The sandbox has been updated, but no-one's asked the mod to swap it back into the page. So, we've effectively got a sandbox that is circumventing the lock. I'm currently doing a Wall of Text clean-up of the page, but was going to suggest we give it back to the mods once the Wall of Text clean-up has been done (unless anyone can think of any further edits that are needed). RWBY has a short-term project thread for people to use, and I was going to put the sandbox update there (I've been doing the WoT clean by folder here — I finished Ruby just before Christmas, so the other three folders still need doing).
Given the reason why the main page was locked by the mods, I don't know what the policy is for splitting characters from a locked page. Perhaps we should see how big the folders are after the WoT clean-up, see if any folders are too big, and then ask the mods what they want to do about the page in general?
I don't really know how to do a character count of folders, so other people will need to do that.

If my post doesn't mention a giant flying sperm whale with oversized teeth and lionfish fins for flippers, it just isn't worth reading.Team RWBY's individual folders are pretty big, around the middle of 50,000 bytes, from I got from the up-to-date Sandbox version.
- Ruby - 52,747 bytes
- Weiss - 54,019 bytes
- Blake - 56,241 bytes
- Yang - 57,134 bytes
Well, Ruby's folder has had the wordcruft/WoT clean, so I don't think that folder will get any smaller. The other three still need to be cleaned, but I doubt they'll get so significantly smaller that they'll fall below 40k.
I'd suggest finishing the WoT clean-up first, so we know for certain what size we're dealing with. After that, it'll depend on what the mods want to do about the lock. We could find ourselves in a situation where we split them out into four pages, and then the mods lock all four of them (worst-case scenario) or just Blake and Yang's (because they were the two characters involved in the edit warring).
Personally, I've got no problem with the four characters having their own individual pages. But I do think the lock is a complication we will need to sort out with the mods, and I do think we should finish the wordcruft clean before splitting.
I can try and finish that clean-up this week, give this thread a heads up, and you guys can decide then what you want to do about the character split and the lock. Would that work?

If my post doesn't mention a giant flying sperm whale with oversized teeth and lionfish fins for flippers, it just isn't worth reading.I've noticed that both of Roland's folders in Library Of Ruina - The Library (his regular one and the spoilerrific "The Fixer" one) take up a large chunk of the page, with 57,757 characters in total. Would it be good for him to have his own page? I would format his page to be like Persona 5: Goro Akechi, with seperate folders for non-spoilery and spoilery tropes related to the character.
SING TO ME, LEND ME THE SONG OF BLASPHEMYYeah reminds me of The Legend of Korra - New Team Avatar. We can treat Team RWBY as an index and just make a page for all four. That is after they have gone through Wall of text cleanup.

Fan-Preferred Couple cleanup threadTeam RWBY would be subpages of Characters.RWBY The Heroes, so The Heroes page will act as the index because there's already a dedicated Team RWBY folder there, so the girls can be linked from there. Team JNPR and the Ozpin/Oscar pages are indexed there as well, so Jaune can be indexed there, too.
If my post doesn't mention a giant flying sperm whale with oversized teeth and lionfish fins for flippers, it just isn't worth reading.Characters.Siivagunner is getting so long that the page lag when I was editing it was awful and it made the page freeze for like a minute. wew lad
Here are the byte counts for all the sections (and, possibly, each individual character page):
- Channel hosts: 53,380
- Christmas Comeback Crisis characters: 31,695 (doesn't really fit the requirement but just to make sure)
- King For a Day Tournament characters: 71,508 (including the KFAD2 characters and the tournament extras)
- I could see both of these lumped in an "Others" page:
- Running Gags: 45,783
- Other characters: 7,894
- Both pages together: 53,677
(I thought these people made shitpost edits. Where's all this lore from?!)

Character Specific Page cleanupOkay, so a silly thing happened on my part...
I was intending to create a character page for the Jurassic Park Tyrannosaurus and Velociraptor which was meant to encompass the dinosaurs' appearance in the film franchise. Whilst making the latter, I accidentally wound up creating a character page.
That said, the Raptors do end up covering around 49,100 Bytes, so take that if you will. Should the page be kept or should it be sent to the cutlist?
WHERE IS KRYPTO, I mean, WHERE IS THE DOG!!!No, you don't need permission as long as you fallow the guidelines, it's big enough, and you add the byte count here.
Fan-Preferred Couple cleanup threadHey so the MCU version of Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross is over 41,000 bytes and with his variants its 43,939 bytes. The page is currently 209,880 bytes. Remove him and the page would still be 165,941 bytes. Would it be okay to make a page for him?
Fan-Preferred Couple cleanup threadYeah. Your right. Done.

Fan-Preferred Couple cleanup threadSo I'm making Roland's character page in a sandbox and I have a question. He has two folders a la Goro Akechi; one for his general tropes, the other for the spoileriffic ones. While the latter folder has no spoiler tags, the former does. Should I just remove the spoiler tags from the former folder as well? I already hoisted up a spoiler warning at the top of the page.
SING TO ME, LEND ME THE SONG OF BLASPHEMYSo now Jurassic Park – Tyrannosaurus is a thing with around 41,438 Bytes.
Both that and Jurassic Park – Velociraptor are about a singular species, though they cover different characters that happen to be said species. So I guess you could call it a Character-Specific Page to an extent. Should it be added to the database or not, and if it's the former, would it be best to add them to the second category (Legacy Characters) or the third (Character-Specific Pages (with others))?
That's fine. I'm not including them then as I think it would be a hassle to figure out how exactly would they fit.

WHERE IS KRYPTO, I mean, WHERE IS THE DOG!!!We decided that the Mutos species didn't count as one of these when we made a page for them. So I don't know.
Fan-Preferred Couple cleanup thread

So I've been looking at character pages for RWBY and I noticed Jaune's page had 53,277 bytes and Salem's page had 62,142 bytes. Can they each get their own subpages? Thanks.
