Character-Specific Pages (CSPs) are created when individual characters have so many trope examples that they can't reasonably be included on a shared page.
The Administrivia Character-Specific Pages policy details the rules that apply to these pages. All Character-Specific Pages must also follow the basic How to Create a Character Page policy, as well as the wiki's more general policies about spoilers and examples.
This cleanup thread handles the following tasks:
- Reviewing and approving new CSP proposals. All new potential CSPs must be reviewed and, if necessary, cleaned up before they're created.
- Agreeing on page names for new CSPs.
- Ensuring that wicks are updated when a new CSP is created.
- Reviewing existing CSPs if there's a concern that they need cleanup, or if it's believed that the character may no longer qualify for a page.
- Merging existing CSPs into other character pages when necessary.
- Ensuring that wicks are updated when a CSP is removed/merged.
- Creating, updating and cutting redirects, as necessary, to reflect these splits and merges.
Crowners are not normally required but, where appropriate, can be used to formalise decisions on any of these points.
If a character no longer qualifies for a CSP, it's often more practical to turn the CSP into a redirect than to cut the page entirely. This keeps the page history visible to users, and also helps to steer offsite 'inbound' traffic (search engine results) to the right place. With that in mind, cut requests for CSPs may be declined and referred to this thread if they don't have a clear consensus.
Comments linking back to this thread can be added to CSPs when needed - e.g. to confirm their creation was approved, to warn tropers that a cleanup is in progress, or to note the date and outcome of a more recent review.
We also have some more general threads for character page help -
- Character Page Cleanup
: for trope misuse, zero-context examples, spoiler tagging issues etc.
- Are these character tropes?
: for queries about whether particular tropes belong on a character page or on the work's page.
- Character pages for the Marvel Cinematic Universe have a dedicated thread here
.
This is not a policy discussion thread, it's a cleanup thread — any requests for policy changes need to be raised in Wiki Talk.
Mod update 07 Mar 2024, reflecting new CSP policy, updated again 22 Mar 2024 to mention redirects for removed CSPs
- Other options must have been tried first, like splitting pages into further groups.
- The character's folder is cleaned up beforehand, fixing any Zero-Context Examples and Wall of Text entries and removing any outdated, misused, or non-character tropes.
- A character's folder is at least 6,000 words/40,000 characters (with spaces). Here
is a byte counter.note
- The current character page bypasses technical limitations and requires a split up.
- A single character takes up the majority of a page or is disproportionately bigger than other folders.
Splitting a character into their own page is a major change and needs to be run by the community before it is enacted. Even if you believe a character meets these requirements, they should be run through this thread first. Having other tropers take a look can help spot issues you may not notice or believe to be issues.
Per How to Create a Character Page, character-specific pages should only include tropes that describe the character. These tropes should fall under Characterization Tropes or one of its related indexes, unless they're recurring character traits (distinctive things that the character does repeatedly). If you're unsure what counts as a character trope, you can ask the Are these Character Tropes?
thread.
If you have concerns with a general character page, they have their own separate cleanup thread
, as do the self-demonstrating character pages
.

I don't mind looking after Kung Fu Panda
Merged back all the Spider-Verse pages.
(x4) Sorry for taking so long to put my opinion in, but I would have suggested two separate pages for the adult and kid main characters for Ducktales. If we're keeping the Triplets page as is, I don't see why we shouldn't put all the remaining CSPs into the Main Characters section instead of making it an index (would be <235k combined).
I just looked at the Animorphs page and it took me more than a minute to even find the title characters. Is there something we can do about not doing splits unless we split everything? Things are easier to navigate through an index.
It's gonna be fun on the bun!![]()
To me it made sense to make it an index because I don't see a reason to make an adults and kids page. There is not much in shared tropes among the three adults like there is for the triplets and Webby doesn't have enough overlap with the triplets. I think this is the one case where I am not in favor of merging it back because we would run into a problem of splitting anyways in like a month anyways like it is that close when all combined. That said I will wait for more opinions.

Fan-Preferred Couple cleanup thread
I am not going to be on my phone for a while. If you want to merge back everyone but Scrooge and the triplets and others agree with you then feel free to.

Fan-Preferred Couple cleanup threadMerged back Once Upon A Time's version of Hook.
Due we want to merge back all of the Ducktales main characters but Scrooge and the triplets? I won't be able to tonight if we do.
Fan-Preferred Couple cleanup threadWell, guess I might as well bring these three up now.
What do we do with the Madoka Magica, Lyrical Nanoha, and Code Geass pages?
I took care of Kung Fu Panda, merging Kung Fu Panda – Master Po Ping, Kung Fu Panda – Master Tigress, Kung Fu Panda The Furious Five, and Kung Fu Panda – The Jade Palace into Kung Fu Panda – Protagonists, which totals 191,484 characters. I wasn't sure what to do with the CSP links on the Character Specific Pages Byte Check or Character-Specific Pages though. Are we just removing them?
It's gonna be fun on the bun!
Cool thanks.
I still want to split the Animorphs page. I don't like the idea of half splits. If your going to start splitting you should go the full mile. I'm just trying to figure out how to split them. Yeerks is an easy split but I'm not sure what to call everyone else, as none of the other sections are long enough to support a page.
It's gonna be fun on the bun!Move Yeerks, keep the rest?
BTW, I took care of it, but since Character-Specific Pages is locked (the once for specific media aren't), in the future the characters need to be requested to be removed.
Also, after moving Fred back, I think Scooby's now fine. Heroes, villains, others. And combined their over 250k.

Thanks. I was just gonna update the sandboxes and leave it for the end so mods don't have to go back and forth every 5 minutes.
Also for Animorphs my issue is I don't know what to call the third page. Supporting Characters? Other Characters? Everyone Else? the third one already has a page so I guess that could work.
It's gonna be fun on the bun!Like I said, I don't like half-split pages. It makes the formatting hard to read and screws with indexing. When I first looked at the page I honestly though you forgot to add the Animorphs and I feel I'm not going to be the only one to make that mistake.
It's gonna be fun on the bun!Dragon Age is finally done. Yay.
I'll be taking a short break before I take on my next project.
CSP Cleanup Thread | All that I ask for ... is diamonds and dance floorsOn The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power I've already merged Rings Of Power Galadriel back with Rings of Power: Elves due to the latter being only 31k+ bytes without her.
I'm electing to keep Rings of Power: Sauron since not only do his dual identities raise issues with double-troping, but the pages his folders derive from already exceed 40k bytes.
Since we are updating the character pages (remind of some of the new guidelines since I might have missed on some), how do these pages fare:
- Characters.Trails Series Rean Schwarzer
- Characters.Trails Series Crow Armbrust
- Characters.Trails Series Erebonia Chancellor Osborne
- Characters.Trails Series Rufus Albarea
Idk where exactly to post this since I'm a very casual editor, but this seems like the best place for it. Is there any chance that Street Fighter: The Four Kings be removed and the characters in that page be moved back to their respective games pages? Mainly so it can be consistent with other fighting game pages where characters are categorized by their debut game.
I was going over Characters.Red Dead Redemption and found the following:
- Characters.Red Dead Redemption Protagonists (49,371 bytes)
- Characters.Red Dead Redemption Arthur Morgan (98,003 bytes)
- Characters.Red Dead Redemption John Marston (59,068 bytes)
- Characters.Red Dead Redemption Van Der Linde Gang (87,397 bytes)
- Characters.Red Dead Redemption Dutch Van Der Linde (114,421 bytes)
- Characters.Red Dead Redemption 2 Van Der Linde Gang (174,206 bytes)
- Characters.Red Dead Redemption Micah Bell III (69,723 bytes)
According to me, John, Arthur and Dutch could be merged back, but any other suggestions?
