Character-Specific Pages (CSPs) are created when individual characters have so many trope examples that they can't reasonably be included on a shared page.
The Administrivia Character-Specific Pages policy details the rules that apply to these pages. All Character-Specific Pages must also follow the basic How to Create a Character Page policy, as well as the wiki's more general policies about spoilers and examples.
This cleanup thread handles the following tasks:
- Reviewing and approving new CSP proposals. All new potential CSPs must be reviewed and, if necessary, cleaned up before they're created.
- Agreeing on page names for new CSPs.
- Ensuring that wicks are updated when a new CSP is created.
- Reviewing existing CSPs if there's a concern that they need cleanup, or if it's believed that the character may no longer qualify for a page.
- Merging existing CSPs into other character pages when necessary.
- Ensuring that wicks are updated when a CSP is removed/merged.
- Creating, updating and cutting redirects, as necessary, to reflect these splits and merges.
Crowners are not normally required but, where appropriate, can be used to formalise decisions on any of these points.
If a character no longer qualifies for a CSP, it's often more practical to turn the CSP into a redirect than to cut the page entirely. This keeps the page history visible to users, and also helps to steer offsite 'inbound' traffic (search engine results) to the right place. With that in mind, cut requests for CSPs may be declined and referred to this thread if they don't have a clear consensus.
Comments linking back to this thread can be added to CSPs when needed - e.g. to confirm their creation was approved, to warn tropers that a cleanup is in progress, or to note the date and outcome of a more recent review.
We also have some more general threads for character page help -
- Character Page Cleanup
: for trope misuse, zero-context examples, spoiler tagging issues etc.
- Are these character tropes?
: for queries about whether particular tropes belong on a character page or on the work's page.
- Character pages for the Marvel Cinematic Universe have a dedicated thread here
.
This is not a policy discussion thread, it's a cleanup thread — any requests for policy changes need to be raised in Wiki Talk.
Mod update 07 Mar 2024, reflecting new CSP policy, updated again 22 Mar 2024 to mention redirects for removed CSPs
- Other options must have been tried first, like splitting pages into further groups.
- The character's folder is cleaned up beforehand, fixing any Zero-Context Examples and Wall of Text entries and removing any outdated, misused, or non-character tropes.
- A character's folder is at least 6,000 words/40,000 characters (with spaces). Here
is a byte counter.note
- The current character page bypasses technical limitations and requires a split up.
- A single character takes up the majority of a page or is disproportionately bigger than other folders.
Splitting a character into their own page is a major change and needs to be run by the community before it is enacted. Even if you believe a character meets these requirements, they should be run through this thread first. Having other tropers take a look can help spot issues you may not notice or believe to be issues.
Per How to Create a Character Page, character-specific pages should only include tropes that describe the character. These tropes should fall under Characterization Tropes or one of its related indexes, unless they're recurring character traits (distinctive things that the character does repeatedly). If you're unsure what counts as a character trope, you can ask the Are these Character Tropes?
thread.
If you have concerns with a general character page, they have their own separate cleanup thread
, as do the self-demonstrating character pages
.

I'm thinking of creating a page for Yukari Takeba from Persona 3 because she fits the following requirements:
- Is already part of a separate character page for the group she's part of.
- Said character page is suffering from lag issues due to the length.
- Disproportionately bigger than the other character folders.
- Character folder exceeds the minimum word/character/byte requirements: 51336 characters, 8385 words, 51,513 bytes.
I hope these requirements are sufficient, though I'm perfectly fine with the majority here has any objections.
50k? Oh yeah, that's way more than big enough. Though have you cleaned up the page at all for any trope misuse and formatting issues? That also means removing tropes not meant to be on character pages.

Character Specific Page cleanupFelt like checking just in case and yeah... there's both trope and Wall of Text issues
- Author Appeal: for gimmicks, not characters. Move to trivia trope Creator's Favorite
- Not-So-Fake Prop Weapon: for when prop weapons get switched out for real weapons unbeknownst to the attacker
- Whole-Plot Reference: for plots, not characters
Her description is also very long... 1.5K bytes. Though I've noticed this is a recurring issue amongst Persona characters, and the bullets for Arcana, Social Link, Persona, and Weapons are unnecessary and should be deleted (this also goes for all Persona characters).
If these issues are addressed, she'll fall below 40K. If the entire page gets cleaned up, I could see the warning falling off as well.

CSP Cleanup Thread | All that I ask for ... is diamonds and dance floorsDP but I wanted to this to be separate from the feedback. Since we've update the OP on the general character page cleanup thread I've thought about updating the OP for this thread too. Mostly to include the new information and bring the requirements front-and-center alongside the additional information links.
There are several persistent issues with the quality of Character Specific Pages. Now that there are official requirements for creating new pages, this thread can be hub for cleaning up pages with issues or that don't qualify. The requirements settled on are as follows, and its recommended that a page meet two or more to stand on its own:
- Other options must have been tried first, like splitting pages into further groups.
- The character's folder is cleaned up beforehand, fixing any Zero-Context Examples and Wall of Text entries and removing any outdated, misused, or non-character tropes.
- A character's folder is at least 6,000 words/40,000 characters (with spaces). Here
is a byte counter.note

CSP Cleanup Thread | All that I ask for ... is diamonds and dance floorsOh yes, that sounds like a good idea. How about something like this, added after the list of requirements:
Maybe a similar note can be added to Character Specific Pages? Maybe under the "Important Notes" section? Or also just after the list of requirements like the potential thread OP?

CSP Cleanup Thread | All that I ask for ... is diamonds and dance floorsI don't remember discussing these:
- Spider-Man: Spider-Verse – Miguel O'Hara (49,721 bytes)
- Spider Man Spider Verse Miles Morales (44,286 bytes
We didn't. At least not fully.
There were some relevant posts starting here
.
Miles was briefly mentioned prior to that, but only to confirm that (at the time) his folder was about 30k and didn't warrant a split. When the folder grew he was split without any return to this thread.
Miguel wasn't mentioned here at all until after the split.
A few tropers started to take a quick look and assess cleanup after that, but I think it stalled as none of us had time/brain bandwidth.
Are we gonna need a more official approval thread at some point?
At the very least, Hello 83433's disclaimers should be implemented.

Character Specific Page cleanupI updated the OP but just noting that IKEA Han could have also updated the OP themselves because they wrote it + there was consensus to do so. But I guess the post was hollered because it was stickied?

Macron's notesFollowing on from the Character Specific Pages update earlier -
I've just copied the commented guidance (and a version of the "do not index" mod note) from Character Specific Pages across to its namespace-specific subpages. I've also added a standard "see main page for detailed rules" note and link to all of them.
As it's just comments for editors, this seemed to be a pretty safe thing to do - but let me know if there are any concerns.
Sandbox.League Of Legends Fiddlesticks
Tried to clean up as much of this as I could. I don't believe there's any major issues with it left.
Character Specific Page cleanupDoes it specifically have to be on a single character or can it also be made for a group? For example, Goddess of Victory: NIKKE if I wanted to make the Counters their own page since they're the main character team.
After coounting all of them together, they only fall under 34k characters, so the whole team doesn't count just yet for their own page. Only way it would work is if someone fills up Neon's folder a bit.

I realized that someone created Characters.Cross Ange Embryo and the byte count is 38,275 bytes. Should the page still be merged back or is the byte count close enough?
So there is Spider Man Spider Verse Jessica Drew. I checked it and it looks to far smaller than what is expected for a CSP.
As of writing this, I'm using a phone, hence why I haven't listed a byte size, but even without using the byte counter, I can tell that the page is too little to qualify. I vouch for it to be merged back.
If they're virtually similar, then I guess cutting down the page works just as well.

WHERE IS KRYPTO, I mean, WHERE IS THE DOG!!!
Pinging -Jd23vugs, who created it.
I make it 5510 bytes, including navbox etc. Her folder on the Spider-Man: Spider-Verse – Spider-Society seems to be unchanged and duplicates the same content, so if we don't want to keep her new CSP, it might be as simple as cutlisting it?

I created Hector's page because I thought he had enough tropes to qualify for a solo. As for moving some tropes from Better Call Saul to Breaking Bad for characters that originated on the latter show, I figured the tropes for one character shouldn't be spread out on two different pages, especially since we have the character specific pages like Walt, Mike, Gus, etc. where tropes from both shows are merged. I should have made a thread discussing it but I assumed since the character specific pages do this that it was possible. I apologize. If you want me to undo all of this myself, I will.
