Needs Help: Logical Fallacies

Some pages on Logical Fallacies are not thriving, yet are not marked as Definition-Only Pages. Apparently they were unilateraly split in 2010. Please, give feedback.

Instead of making it definition only, I suggest we add it to the glossary on Logical Fallacies and cut the individual page altogether. I'd also suggest that for other pages.

I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.

I third Mew's idea. I don't see much point in a definition only page for...this.

Alright, as my proposal seemed to have approval, I checked other Logical Fallacies that are on Pages Needing Wicks but not on Definition-Only Pages (also my thoughts, I avoided cutting and assume def-only in worst case scenarios, but if people want to cut and merge with the index I guess they can):

• Ad Hoc: As stated above, I'd want it def-only.
• Argumentum Ad Lapidem: Seems too rare to trope, probably def-only.
• Fallacy of Composition: Might be worth yarding.
• Fallacy of Division: Also might be worth yarding.
• Frozen Abstraction: Def-only.
• Genetic Fallacy: Examples look interesting but might be too rare to trope. Def-only?
• Hypostatization: Def-only.
• Loaded Words: Could be yarded, but has few examples.
• Prosecutor's Fallacy: Only IRL examples, but some wicks on character pages... Yard?
• Retrospective Determinism: Def-only.
• Reverse Slippery Slope Fallacy: Seems too rare. Def-only.
• Semantic Slippery Slope Fallacy: Def-only.
• Spotlight Fallacy: Lacks fiction examples. Def-only?
• Stolen Concept: Def-only.
• Undistributed Middle: Def-only.

What do you people think about these? Should I make a Wiki Tropes-like sandbox and use a voting system?

I don't mind the idea of making all of the Logical Fallacies pages definition-only, but I might have to think about it a bit more before making a definitive decision.

At the very least, I already agree with making Ad Hoc definition-only.

Edit: And yeah, a sandbox would probably be the best way to handle the Logical Fallacies pages. I think I may have seen Logical Fallacies itself listed on Tropes Needing TRS, but I could be misremembering.

You are not misremembering:

• Logical Fallacies: The on-page examples for its subpages, and possibly wicks, attract natter, so these tropes should be In-Universe Examples Only. Probably really belongs under Useful Notes.

I'm not against the batch idea, but don't we need a thread for it? I don't know if we can just convert this one into a batch thread.

The thread that expanded Author's Saving Throw's definition was originally just for video game subpages, but eventually gained mod approval to be about the concept as a whole. Maybe we could ask a mod whether this thread can be converted into a general Logical Fallacies thread.

Kirby is awesome.

I hollered post 10 to see what the mods think about using this thread for other Logical Fallacies. I specifically hollered that post because it has a list of fallacies whose pages aren't thriving.

Edit: Also, I noticed that Just World Fallacy is a redirect to the main Logical Fallacies page instead of having a separate page, but I don't know if there was a TRS thread for that.

I don't mind making Logical Fallacies UN page either. I don't see the point of splitting the different fallacies to be definition-only. At that rate, just add them to the main LF page, cuz they'll probably be short anyway.

I can see expanding the scope of this thread. I think a merge crowner or so would be warranted, since this problem dates back to 2010 when someone unilaterally split Logical Fallacies. The problem would be if the discussion gets bogged down into a debate on each individual page.

Personally my opinion on every page will be the exact same, so I won't have much to debate about.

I tried to have different votes as I did find some on-page examples interesting and could see why someone wanted to expand the pages to explain them more throughly, though that is my opinion. Still, I guess we have approval to make this a general not-thriving Logical Fallacies thread.

I thought Logical Fallacies was supposed to be an index for logical fallacies, not a trope. Don't indexes get a pass for low wick counts? Even if they don't, Logical Fallacies has 422 wicks anyway.
