EDIT: yep, they did. Kana materializing out of the rain and into Aqua's slap was a bit too K-drama for my taste, but it is what it is. It was a matter of time until his self-delusion came crashing down, though the combination of the cheerfully spiteful image of his child self, the unabashed self-loathing of Goro and the recent evidence of how revenge is corrupting Ruby makes me think he won't just flip the edgelord switch back on just like that.
