So I noticed this game doesn't have a thread or a trope page and decided to start a thread.

I was in the mood for a roguelike-light card-based game with a Dark Fantasy aesthetic, and this game seemed to fit the bill. And it was on-sale, so I figured why not?

13 hours in and having had two successful runs, my overall assessment is that it's not the best game ever, but it wasn't a waste of time or money. If you like games like Slay the Spire or Monster Train (and have already played those games to exhaustion), then you'll probably like this game.

There are some lingering balance issues between the various classes. And by "balance issues" I mean "Summoner is OP". Seriously, Summoner in its present state is kind of ridiculous. Both of my successful runs were as a Summoner. About the only real weakness the Summoner has is facing enemies with powerful Ao E attacks that hit everyone on your side — those will tear apart your golems very quickly if you're not careful. But aside from that, the Summoner is one of the best classes if not the best. It's also very satisfying to see minions grow in size as you promote them. The Abomination for example starts out the size of a dog but can become as big as a bull elephant after you promote it enough times.

As for the game's story...it turns out to be hilariously meta concerning the very nature of stories (particularly stories in videogames).

Long story short: Tainted Grail: Conquest is an above average game, and play the Summoner.

So this game has weird honor of being first (or at least one of only few) rogue-lites where I complete first run successfully on first try O_o; From victory screen having "difficulty 1" I take it that its not hardest version of game, but yeah weird since usually i die at first boss or after first boss on second area.

Also I'm confused of what Tormented Grail: Fall of Avalon is (sequel, different adaption, what?) and what this about boardgame version of this existing

Big bump because the sequel is coming out. Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon is pretty much just Skyrim with different lore, which is not a complaint. It's in Early Access right now, and already pretty good, though a little buggy. It has a demo, too, so there's that.

Writing a post-post apocalypse LitRPG on RR. Also fanfic stuff.
