Stock Parody Jokes cleanup

I'm surprised that Umbridge's name wasn't potholed to Complete Monster.

I think the joke is "Umbridge is the most hateable character is the series", just phrased really weirdly.

This is on Other Media under the Holidays folder:

• Pointing out how the American Valentines Day originated from a bloody massacre.

Is that even a thing? Most of the jokes about the holiday tend to involve how corporate it is, or about how it can double as a "Singles Awareness Day".

If they're talking about the Valentine's Day Massacre from the 20's, I'm also pretty sure that's not why the holiday exists.

• Humpty Dumpty's insides being eaten after his great fall.
  • That is, if he was even an egg. You know the rhyme never says that, right?

I can't tell if the second bullet is meant to be natter or its own parody joke.

I think it's its own parody joke, but written as natter. The whole "Humpty's not an egg" thing has been circulating for a while as one of those weird "mind-blown" facts.

And in any case, they're missing the point. The text is a riddle, and "Humpty is an egg" is the intended solution.

I'm... not sure how true that is. I've never heard of it being a riddle before. All the sources just say it's a weird nursery rhyme that can be referring to anything from an English king to a cannon.

Nevermind, I have nothing to say about this.

Would “Calling anything bad that happens on Valentine’s Day a ‘St. Valentine’s Day Massacre’.” qualify, though?

We can wonder. Why all the kings horses and men would try to put together an EGG is beyond me.

  • During the release of the attempted reboot, many jokes were made about the franchise's fans being misogynistic manchildren due to men's rights activists complaining about the reboot's all-female leading cast.

I don't like the vibes this entry is giving off. It looks like Flame Bait.

It doesn't look legit either. I've never heard of that being a "stock parody joke". Cut.

StockParodyJokes.Anime And Manga haves this:

• Due to the controversial behavior of some of the people involved on both sides of the Vic Mignogna controversy, Funimation's talent pool is often depicted in parodies as a Dysfunction Junction.

This smells like some form of ROCEJ violation and trope misuse.

Not too sure if this kosher or not.

• The Matrix:
  • Morpheus' group being made up of stereotypical "neckbeard" types, due to the term "red pill" now being associated with a controversial subculture widely considered misogynistic.

Maybe it could be revamped into something like "Taking the red pill turns you into a conservative stereotype, and taking the blue pill turns you into a progressive stereotype"? I don't know.

Honestly it might just be my crowd, but I see more memes about the red pill turning you trans in light of the Wachowski's transitions and the Rainbow Lens.

I know it's been a while, but I just did a purge of the animated films page. As I've said before, a lot of them feel less like parody jokes and more like general observations.

I think the "Sisu is Elsa's fursona" joke was actually pretty common, and not a general observation.

There were memes comparing Sisu's face to Elsa but was that a joke or a meme? The line's hard to draw.

People have compared practically every Disney heroine's face in the past decade to Elsa (and Elsa and Anna themselves were compared to Rapunzel), so I don't know if it means that much.

I mean yeah, but Sisu is a dragon for most of the movie, so the joke was usually about how Disney even puts the Elsa face on animals.

I removed some examples from Web Original that were just blatant complaining disguised as “jokes”.

I’m sure there’s some actual jokes that can be made for Game Theory, JonTron and The Nostalgia Critic so they can be re-added, just… not those.

I think I came up with one for Game Theory:

“MatPat thinking that everyone who has ever existed is Sans, or Ness, or both.”

It’s making fun of MatPat’s infamous Sans is Ness theory by exaggerating it, but it’s not just complaining, I’d say it’s more of an actual parody joke than “his theories suck and his fans are dumb for liking them lol”

Thoughts? And any ideas for the others?

I'm pretty sure I've seen "Everyone is Sans/Ness" as a meme about Game Theory before. I guess it could count, in a "Tweets count as parodies" sense.

• Ice Age:
  • Pointing out how absurd the series becomes with each passing installment. This comes across as another "x is bad" example.
  • Theories about how Scrat is the God of the Ice Age universe. Maybe?
