No, this is not in the wrong sub :P

New Line Cinema announced a LOTR anime film. https://www.theonering.net/torwp/2021/06/10/110782-lord-of-the-rings-anime-from-new-line-announced-philippa-boyens-attached/

It will be directed by Kenji Kamiyama (Ultraman, Ghost in the Shell) and, as the name implies, tell the adventures of Helm Hammerhand. Confirmed to take place in the same continuity as the Jackson movies

Hopefully they'll actually put work into making the writing sound as good as the original movies too.

When I think "anime based on a western fantasy property directed by the Ghost in the Shell guy", my mind would flock to The Elric Saga rather than Lord of the Rings, but this should be pretty cool.

If they go the CG route, hopefully it'll be more like Ultraman than GitS.
