And it also seems as if the canonical ending is the one where Hana made the sacrifice in the ending of BF 4... or if she's alive, DICE went the REALLY dark route and assumed Wrecker didn't make the choice and instead let the carrier get sunk. Gonna be one grim alternate universe, if the latter is true.
Also, seems like Irish's kit is meant for camping out certain areas, or defending objectives. He can deploy both protective barriers to take cover behind, or an APS turret designed for intercepting rocket/missile projectiles. No sentry turret for him though, but I've heard another specialist will be given such a tool.
Does Irish and Pac coming back count as The Bus Came Back? (and because of that, Pac dying also counting as Back for the Dead)
The Sins never die, can't wash this blood off our hands
Let the world fear us all, it's just means to an end
Our salvation lies, in the Father’s sins
Beyond the truth, let me suffer now

If anything, the Battlefield V fiasco proved their concept for the usual game-as-a-service, battle pass, weekly tasks etcetera made no sense and tanked because it just had to.
Not sure what they learned from that. Enough that they flipped the game mechanics on its ass again and went with a Black Ops 4 hero shooter model that hasn't been tested in BF's gameplay model. Coupled with the price hike, it's gonna end badly.
"what the complete, unabridged, 4k ultra HD fuck with bonus features" - Mark Von LewisA much longer leaked video was on Youtube earlier but I guess it was taken down.
From the looks of the gameplay it seems DICE is trying to speed up the combat from BFV's design even further, enough to the point that you'd be forgiven for thinking this was footage from COD: Modern Warfare 2019. Everything seems to be incredibly speedy, almost fast-fowarded: grenades are chucked with a lightning-fast arm, your time to ready your weapon is near-instant, reloads take only a couple of seconds, characters are lightweight and sprint around with ease, and even the MB Ts are speedy and capable of quickly maneuvering around the map and through hills and rough terrain.
I'm hoping DICE isn't deliberately trying to ape COD's latest titles, because they're gonna find out the hard way how slavishly loyal that fanbase can be, despite all of their supposed complaints about how "stale" their beloved franchise is.
I really hope the VHS-2 is in the game. It's perfect for the near-future setting, and has yet to be in many big AAA games (I blame it losing the French military trails to the HK416 for that), despite it's aesthetic also being perfect for video games.

Huh, would've thought somebody would've posted about the open beta period a couple of weeks back. Think I might know why though...
Basically, the community consensus is that BF 2042 is in rough shape, and given DICE's history, it will sadly probably release in a similar state. Even worse, the reaction towards the specialists and the removal of the Class system isn't proving popular since it removed a major incentive for teamplay. Basically, everbody's now playing Mc Kay with his grappling hook, supply crates and maybe an RPG along with an Assault Rifle, while the other classes seem to have faults with their gear that make them undesirable. Furthermore, the gameplay is the most twitch-reflex based to date, even more than BFV, with little recoil, quick reloads and sprinting galore.
TL;DW - might wanna avoid buying this on day one. Wait for DICE to fix up the issues first.

Well, everyone around is saying that the game is unsalvageable shite at this point.
"what the complete, unabridged, 4k ultra HD fuck with bonus features" - Mark Von LewisNo posts in over 6 months... damn. To be fair, it's been nothing but negative news the whole time inbetween, so that certainly didn't help matters.
Anyways, the reason why I'm posting: we've finally got a trailer showing off BF 2042 Season 1, which includes a new map, major balance changes, stealth gunships, a few new weapons (such as a crossbow and an AS-VAL knockoff), and a new character equipped with a manually-guided missile launcher as her special kit.
Season 7: Turning Point
will be the last major update for Battlefield 2042. Afterwards it's just going to be smaller community events, patch fixes, and the usual low-level maintenance, as per the latest official news.
They didn't even bother supporting Battlefield: Portal for very long, and that was the single biggest draw for me. Glad I didn't purchase this entry.
I'm hoping they move away from the super-janky, high-speed movement of the last two games (BFV and BF 2042) and go back to a slower-paced, tactical setting that BF 3 and BC 2 had. But then again, the lead designer is Vince Zampella, one of the guys involved in the creation of COD:MW 2, so I'm currently not holding up much hope on that end.
Actually... looking back at BF 2042, just how exactly did they screw this entry up? The addition of Battlefield: Portal custom mode should've been an easy win; it's basically an excuse for all the whiners complaining about how if given the opportunity they'd balance their ideal battlefield game to go hog-wild and build the game mode of their dreams, but that never exactly happened, did it?
BF 3 had relatively high straight line speed (with bunny hopping for extra) in their sprint mechanics. Especially with the sprint perk.
That said you couldn’t do this stupid parkour over seemingly everything while carrying a 40 kg machine gun nonsense either.
I’m not expecting any sort of revival or Win Back the Crowd. They need a complete overhaul of the gameplay to be fun, not frustrating and certainly end the issues plaguing the series from excessive spam of all sources (people, grenades, etc), to broken mechanics and so much more.
Also maybe the ability to play the next game and earn all the unlocks and achievements without ever facing a single human. All maps and modes can be played with and against a full roster of bots.
And FFS no hero shooter nonsense.

I get the feeling they want to pull a long term project a la Fortnite, Rainbow Six Siege, the upcoming Halo Infinite and others where they don’t release sequels so much as make the game a pseudo-subscription via cosmetics or DLC’s or more.
Some of the aforementioned games have been around long enough that under the Battleduty business model they should’ve gotten at least 2-3 sequels but they haven’t.
Because they’re demonstrating either they’ve abandoned the Gamblefront/Battlefailed V route and truly have learned from such mistakes or they’ve reached the limitations of the Frostbite engine in its entirety and need something to last long enough to develop a new game engine from scratch which means something they can bank on for upwards of 5 years or more until the new engine is ready. Kinda like how 343 has taken seemingly forever and a day between Halo 5 and Infinite. They had to make and complete their new engine for use on the Series X generation from then on out.
Because something seems suspicious otherwise.
