I'm good with any option on the crowner. There's definitely stories where a character's last words are important (like "Free Churro" from BoJack Horseman) or function as representative of their now-presumably-resolved character arc, but that would probably need to be done from scratch. The current format may as well be a JFF page, especially with that "quote, then spoilered character name" format that makes for awful trope examples, but a fun guessing game.
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.![]()
I'm thinking about sponsoring a Meaningful Last Words TLP later on so hold onto that thought.
Tropeworthy isn't the same as common, tbf. It's likely that the few examples aren't from the fact that the trope isn't a trope, but because Famous Last Words wasn't that trope.
Working on: Author Appeal | Sandbox | Troper WallYeah, but I also can't think of a single case where last words are famous In-Universe and I have seen tons of media with tons of dead characters.
I think it might be better to focus on cases when their last words are used to sum up their final wishes or overall themes. Like if their plot was about regret, and their last words are about the job they never got to have. Or if their plot was about winning their parents' love and their last words were "I'm doing this for you, Mom and Dad!"
I also feel like "words you say before getting killed" and "dying words" are a little different in tone, though I may be splitting hairs there.
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe. The dewick and move to JFF options are in the green. What I was saying was to sandbox/post/keep Meaningful Last Words examples as dewicking occurs. Words that round off a character arc, become Arc Words for the following season, get quoted by other characters, etc.

A sandbox to sort the meaningful examples, if we can find enough, would be helpful.
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.Alright performed the move and listed this as the reason I guess all that's left to do is wick cleaning, there is currently 4548 wicks
so we have a lot of work to do.
Most of the time a pothole can just be deleted but in some cases, it could link to the new JustForFun.Famous Last Words link if it's in a description.

Updated the Trope Epitaph. I put the main page version of Famous Last Words into the "merged tropes" folder and added a note that "Famous Last Words" is now a JFF page while the old Famous Last Words page now redirects to Last Words.
I'll be over on DeviantArt if you need me.In light of vote, reposting this:
"On the topic of the Marvel Cinematic Universe page, I noticed some of the examples were removed a while back citing this paragraph in the trope description:
Please note: this trope is not simply for the last words a character says before their death. If Bob says "Hmm that's interesting" because he sees an eye-catching billboard while walking home, then two minutes later he gets hit by a car while crossing the street and instantly killed without saying another word, that is not sufficient to count as this trope. The trope is called Famous Last Words, not just "The Last Thing Someone Says Before Death".
However, this paragraph was recently removed by a mod during clean up of the description. What should be done regarding such removals that cited this paragraph?"
Should the entries be added back?
That isn't on a random MCU page it is specifically on the Famous Last Words subpage for it, which will still be needed to be used even if the trope is Just for Fun.

By on-page examples, did we mean the actual Famous Last Words page, or all the examples on the wiki? I voted for it in the assumption it'd just be the ones on the trope page. I'm not in favor of keeping every on-page example that exists; seems too bloated for a JFF page, which would need multiple subpages just to fit everything.

Working on: Author Appeal | Sandbox | Troper WallYes, it means only the On-Page examples on the trope page and its subpages, yeah it may be a bit bloated but the only other option is to arbitrarily restrict exactly what examples can be allowed, besides their are other JFF pages that have subpages like Drinking Game.
The examples on the other pages that link to Famous Last Words can be deleted.

Also Famous Last Words already has subpages carried over from the old Famous Last Words page.
Well, other tropers here have already said better what I wanted to say. All the existing sub-pages are now considered sub-pages of the Just for Fun page of Famous Last Words. And it's not a problem, considering that we have subpages for other Just for Fun pages such as Drinking Game, ...Get a Stupid Answer, etc.
In other words, no culling is needed for Famous Last Words subpages. But the wicks on the work pages or character pages (such as the wicks we currently have on WebAnimation.Half Life Side Story Gaiden Hunt Down Free Man or Characters.Samurai Jack Aku, to name few examples) are to be culled.

"Ever since the day I was born, I've never once uttered a lie! I'm a virtuous weakling! As pitiful as I am, nobody shows me any sympathy!"When I handled the move of One of Us to Just for Fun a few years ago, the only changes I made to the subpages were changing the namespace of the wicks for the page they're subpages of.
