If a higher-quality version is provided, it gets my vote.
Besides, current is a case of This Image Is Not an Example.
Tell that to the people who put it on that index I wicked in the first place. Quote:
- Allegedly Free Game: The image refers to League of Legends, which is generally agreed to give free players a worthwhile experience, despite how much money it's possible to spend on it.
OP is definitely better than the current, but the text in the bottom could stand to be enlarged.
Keet cleanupSuggestion > current, only because it's clearer in the suggestion that the game in question is marketed as free. I agree with Sync that it could use a more centered bottom crop though.
However, putting the current on This Image Is Not an Example because the game is good is not appropriate, because Allegedly Free Game is not YMMV. It simply describes a particular way to price a game. It could fit that page under "Parodies" though.

I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe. The current is bad because it's Talking Heads, not because it's not a good example.
Fjón þvæ ég af mér fjanda minna rán og reiði ríkra manna.I'm giving a
to 9 and OP, because it still doesn't show all of the trope. It shows that the game is marketed as technically free, and that it's possible to spend money on it, but not that there's content within the game that requires spending money to experience.
That being said, the current is still worse — it's both Talking Heads and seems to be discussing something else entirely.

It's funny because we're all living in a simulation and free will is a lie.Maybe the image in Bribing Your Way to Victory work better for Allegedly Free Game? It seems to indicate that you need to pay real money to get a vital piece to clear the blocks. The suggestions in this thread can go there instead.
That could work, as that image shows a clearer roadblock to gameplay. But from what I can kind of parse, Bribing is about mechanics that help you win games and Allegedly is about paying for extra content to play? It's a bit fuzzy.
Another idea could be Bitizenship
from BitLife, though it doesn't make it clear that the base game is free.

The current image is just the trope being discussed. The description and laconic seem a little confusing to me, but I think this demonstrates the trope well enough:
If anyone wants to improve on the concept, feel free to.
