^ actually... isn't Author Guest Spot the trope we were just talking about creating? just limited to webcomics for some reason

The trope we were talking about creating is not limited to "guest spots"; they might be recurring characters. Also, the examples of that trope aren't all for characters that voice author commentary.

I mean, maybe that's true; honestly though it's a different trope and needs a thread of its own.

Do we have a sandbox for the broadened definition and examples?

I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.

There's an entry on a book page (and has been there for a good long while), but it doesn't seem to have been crosswicked and I'm not sure if it fits the trope as it's currently under discussion; posting here for review.

  • Monster of the Year: Jeff, Michael's step-dad, is a science fiction author, described as being bald with a beard. Bruce Coville is better known for his Space Brat series, and most of his pictures show him bald with a beard.

Until next time...

About Author Mouthpiece, what about cases like The Writer from The Lion King Adventures, where the Author Avatar is a villainous character? He fits the other qualifications of the missing trope (god and creator, author powers, said by the author to represent the authorís dark side). What do we do with that?

So, are we just cleaning wicks and making drafts now?

Checking in. Since the thread's not listed in the TRS thread sandbox, is there any unfinished business?

I semi-remember the Raisonneur-to-be draft in the TLP had some issues with scope. Author Avatar, though, has had its description broadened, so that part of the crowner is taken care of. Maybe the proposed draft can be separate from the TRS, or yarded.

I'm good with having the draft be separate. Yarding does sound plausible, too.

Nudging this thread again, and giving a courtesy link to the draft for Author Mouthpiece.

I wasn't involved in this discussion, but as far as I understand, Author Avatar has been expanded to be the supertrope to the draft as discussed here. The draft's been in TLP limbo since June, so would it be appropriate to close this thread and agree to redirect Raisonneur to said draft if/when it launches? Or is there cleanup that still needs to be done?
