Current is infinitely better than the suggestion. OP takes four panels and clumsy dialogue addition to do what the current does in one panel. I disagree there is no visual element; how else would we know why he'd be touching rats?

Absolutely keep the current. The suggestion is honestly super-clumsy, and I don't get the joke either.
Keep current. There's enough visual element to at least tell what's happening inside that box (but obviously can't be shown).
That went exactly as expected. The tag's updated, and I struck the caption as it seemed to just be needlessly complainy. Locking up.
The current has no visual element (nor should one want one given the subject matter) so it might as well be a page quotation.
Here's an alternative; one for which the fourth screenshot involved is a picture worth a thousand words.
