Yeah, I'm not getting enough out of that.
Keep Until Better Image Suggested. Dexter's face in this scene and the way it cracked is one of the scariest moments IMO. I don't think there's anything that can make a better image. Although, for a counter suggestion, how about the title card of "Sore Eyes"?

Given that Dexter often has run-ins with weird creatures in the show, perhaps a picture of one of them might work, though it has to be scary, not just unsettling.
That sounds like a good idea. In the meantime, Keep Until Better Image Suggested.
I agree that the "Sore Eyes" title card might be creepy enough to work, but I worry it's almost too unsettling due to the realism
◊.
The episode that scared me as a kid is "Chicken Scratch" but that's more Nausea Fuel.
Keep Until Better Image Suggested.
Why would it being too unsettling be a problem? This is a Nightmare Fuel page after all
Hunger Strike is another episode I found scary (especially the title card), but I think the current just needs a better caption. Since Dexter ended up looking like this due to contacting cooties, how about: "Cootie disease. Symptoms include paralisy, skin shedding, and bulged out veins"

I vote on no image, the current one is pretty bad.

What's wrong with using the Sore Eyes title card◊ image? It's very freaky looking, it comes from the show, and sure, it's in a different art style from the show itself, but the Nightmare Fuel page images for Courage the Cowardly Dog and The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack are also in a different art style from the show itself. And as for it being "too scary", it's not even the scariest NF image I've seen...
I think what I meant was more the issue of being too realistic, which looked weird for the page, but you're right that that just helps illustrate the point.
I mean, sure. I guess I'll join the train.
Works for me.
Sore Eyes. The only real issue with Nightmare Fuel page images being "too unsettling" is if they're excessively gory.
That's enough consensus. 18's in and tagged; caption?
Old pic:

What is seen cannot be unseen.
It shows a character looking horrified at something, but not it doesn't actually show what the scary thing is.
