Alright, I'm sure we have a relevant thread for this. Politics in Media
, maybe, that thread is having a discussion very similar to this one at the moment.
To rerail - has anyone else done a 180 on their opinion of the film? I was very skeptical about the movie when it first came out because it seemed like just another live-action adaptation, but I've heard nothing but good news about it and what little of the plot we know is genuinely interesting
So, let's hang an anchor from the sun... also my TumblrNot a complete 180 but maybe a 90. Was more than happy for this to be yet another live action Disney I did not watch and had no intention of watching but if the early good press holds true then I might give it a watch... Once it's free.
"These 'no-nonsense' solutions of yours just don't hold water in a complex world of jet-powered apes and time travel."The real problem with Maleficent is not that they tried to make her sympathetic or give her a Freudian excuse, the problem is that they basically turned her into a heroine, with Aurora's father being the real villain.
I think a story in which Maleficent turned evil due to abuse might have worked, if not because this version of Maleficent is not even evil.
You can say bad things about the Joker from the homonymous movie or the telltale games version, but at least these versions reminded that the Joker is a villain, even if he has a sympathetic background.

It doesn’t matter over which is more quality, there will be people on the net arguing over both movies for a variety of reasons.
Like the DC and Disney rivalry some fans have.
Like I still remember the Disney bribes critics theory people peddled unironically.
"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"In preparation for the upcoming movie, Youtuber Jon Solo discusses the original 101 Dalmatians book.
The new Cruella movie had better show her drinking ink...
Like creepy stories? Check out my book!Holy shiiiiiiiiiit, Hollywood Reporter's review
of the film is now out, and they claim that an important plot point is that DALMATIANS LITERALLY KILLED CRUELLA'S MUM
Reverse John Wick.

Holy fuck this is the funniest shit I’ve ever seen. This is a Freudian Excuse we’re supposed to take seriously?
The legend has returned.Fun fact...
In Once Upon a Time,Cruella used dalmatioms to kill her mother the same way.
So a weird reverse from that.
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."

Even that's arguable, considering he seems to be actually hallucinating and the moment he realised what was going on (when he sat down in Sophie's flat and she didn't actually really know him), he just left.
He definitely latches onto her phychologically, simply due to her being one of the few people he meets who don't treat him with derision. I'm not sure "entitlement" is the right word for it, though.
I feel like the whole "Joker is in incel" thing mainly stems from mainstream media outlets' lamenting how the movie didn't actually cause any mass shootings.
