Neither did I claim it's the chief reason nor that I approve of or excuse harassment, as I have already stated. I understand, Gamers are entitled and such - no need to make light of a genuine censorship threat as a bunch of manchildren throwing a tantrum.
Considering I'm 1 of the people in this thread who saw from the very beginning that it's all a rightwing scheme to attack minority Creatives, especially those who are LGBTQ+, I'm certainly not making light of of the situation. In fact, it's certainly more dire than what a lot of gamers insist is a means to censor them and act as if it's still the 1990s and that they and game devs' demographics are still frozen in the 1990s.
Set! Avenge! "Henshin." Black General! Bujin Sword! Ready, Fight!Unfortunately, getting various people, especially their supporters, angry and chasing after scapegoats while fleecing those same angry people dry has been the right wing's MO for a very long time.
Set! Avenge! "Henshin." Black General! Bujin Sword! Ready, Fight!Has there been any kind of an attempt to do that, because I've only heard of people calling the card companies?
Not to my knowledge but given how willing Valve delists games in comparison to a site like GOG, gamers are always too lenient towards Valve and tend to have too rosy a picture of them.

Set! Avenge! "Henshin." Black General! Bujin Sword! Ready, Fight!Something that confuses me is that as far as I can tell, Collective Shout only started calling and contacting card companies to put pressure on them, and they capitulated. Now we have gamers doing the same thing on an arguably larger scale, and they seem slower to listen.
Presumably, Collective Shout has people with connections pull strings on people in the card companies who are much much higher than mere operations managers in call centers. Especially if those card company executives are already sympathetic to the politics of the people pulling Collective Shout's strings.

Set! Avenge! "Henshin." Black General! Bujin Sword! Ready, Fight!Collective Shout is just a pretext, seeing as payment processors are insane puritans and already sympathetic to that cause, as stated.
Should this movement die down, I expect another to sprout up like mold and continue being a nuisance - except little by little, that mold is growing bigger and more dangerous.

Ah yes better to hold onto the IP and then proceed to do nothing with it for another 20 years.

Its MY IP to do NOTHING with!

Some people really do seem to hate the idea of just giving away or even selling something of theirs even if they aren't using it. It's basically the bratty kid mentality, they want to keep it just because it's theirs, even if they get no sentimental or practical use out of it.
consdiering that the aversge C-suite bro is usually sheltered and raised in environments that don't encourage growth, it does make sense.

ah rent seeking.
Granted I can see the logic, its not like everything else isn't overpriced and inflated to hell and back. but "69 morbillion dollars" is still not a reasonable price for a dormant IP.
Of course I don't think the suits haven't quite got it through their skulls that IPs only maintain value if they are consistency used.
Also doesn't help that "75 years after death or last use" is the deadline for IPs. A shorter deadline would likely see less dormant IPs, if only becuase interested people would do something with them after they hit the public domain.

The problem with IP is that you dont know if something will suddenly resurge/become a hit. The Marvel IP after their bankruptcy basically got sold for pennies compared to what they would bring as early as the first Blade movie. Now Disney needed to buy an entire studio to get the Marvel heavyhitter character rights back (even though there is a lot more value beyond that). I guess they regret letting go of Power Rangers now.
Its so funny that Bubsy is an IP not being sat on while Spyro is.

Actually, Disney is returning to Power Rangers for the upcoming reboot by the Percy Jackson showrunners.

But they dont own PR, which they did before which they probably wouldnt have sold it back to Saban if they knew how IP centric mainstream entertainment companies are today. Now they have to play ball with Hasbro to get a show off.
Anyone know how much the Marvel license to make a game is? We know Black Panther was cancelled with that being a primary concern but it doesnt look to be so high that a smaller dev team like ones behind Cosmic Invasion cant have that developed.

Too bad we can't talk about targeting the real source of the problem because that's too much into US Politics.
