The "seal of quality" never meant anything like how good the actual games were. Originally, it was just "this game is an officially licensed game" because the NES had a ton of bootleg games on it. And then they just kinda stuck with it because it had become part of their brand despite bootlegs basically not being a thing for later consoles.

The SNES only had like, one bootleg game made for it during its lifetime, IIRC.

It never really meant anything. It’s an artifact of the days when bootleg cartridges were all over the place so they invented it to imply “Hey, this won’t brick your system!”

Not to mention the seal got rid of "quality" and just went with "Official Seal of Nintendo" because too many people stupidly thought the seal of quality meant the game was actually good.

If Pokemon Scarlet/Violet runs and doesn't ruin your Switch? Then the seal is entirely accurate to the original intent.

And to be honest, "It runs and won't brick your system!" would filter out about... 80% of the crap currently on the Eshop (and that's a conservative estimate)

While most of the bugs are funny, there's a massive issue with how the games use the same RNG seed for every online match that basically breaks PVP right now. The seed guarantees One-Hit Kill moves always hit on the first turn.

Also, the games are believed to have a memory leak problem that murders the performance.

Memory leak you say? I remember reading that Donkey Kong 64 had a memory leak issue and the devs used the expansion pack to slow it down. And by slow it down, I mean prevents the game from crashing unless you play or leave the game on all day and night.

Turns out that was just a rumor.

As mentioned in this video, the memory pack was for... vertex lighting. That's it.

Well I'll be damned.

Not surprised that rumour went around though. DK 64 is infamously bizarrely programmed.

Note there was a memory leak found late in development. It just wasn't the reason for needing the expansion pack.

Almost anything related to pokemon sells. Only thing I think when it doesn't sells is when genre itself is niche but even then, they still sells relatively well.

And no, exchange rates have nothing to do with it. A game that retails for US$n retails for €n.
