It ends as it lived—A mess, but a fun mess. Character arcs are all over the place, there's not much in the way of themes, and the plot was often bizarre, but it did all of this with style and energy. The big issue is that it felt kinda padded, especially towards the start. Too much story for one cour, but not really enough for two

Yeah, it kinda felt like they had enough material for double the episode count but ended up cramming them into the latter part of the series. Especially the stuff about the God-baby. Still, agreed, what a beautiful mess.
