The trope is frequently misused. It refers to stories that are affected by the fall of the Soviet Union, or other historical events. A show hundreds of years into the future, featuring the Soviet Union would qualify.

This site however uses it as an actual historical term for the Soviet Union collapse. It can be found in trope pages of works set in the Cold War, as well as useful notes discussing the history of Europe. Any real life example is by definition misuse, as the trope is about fictional not real events.

Others

  • Be My Valentine: Kind of confusing, as it does involve assumptions about the future, just not about the Soviet Union. Also irrelevant to the example.
  • Broad Strokes: Possibly correct, assumption that the Soviets would remain the primary enemy of the US.

~@randomtroper89, two problems with your wick check:

  • There's not enough wicks. I counted ~32, and we need 50.
  • We'd prefer a more randomized pick when you check wicks, not the first however many items in the wick list. The latter can skew a wick check greatly, so that should be avoided.

With the backlog as it is, this will be declined.
