What if they have a “special guest appearance” by Uncle Pietro? That be a fucking shocked & sad.

I've been expecting it. Whatever this is, it's been superficially giving Wanda what she wants. She got the love of her life back. The possibility of a family. Why not her brother?

God, this show is messed up. evil grin Lotus Eater Machines always are.

I would be surprised if there was a Quicksilver appearance, if only because I think set photos with him there would have been leaked.

Then again they have managed to keep a lot about the show secret.

Yeah, I wouldn't take the fact that we don't know it's going to happen already as a sign that it won't happen - and that goes for a lot of spec.

Yeah, they kept the live studio audience in episode one under wraps, and The Mandalorian kept Mark Hamill's return as a deepfaked young Luke Skywalker secret for over a year. Disney's track record for leaks is getting better; I wouldn't be terribly surprised if they managed a shocking cameo without anyone realizing.

Disney's ability to keep things under wraps is super good.

Like, did anyone know that Thanos was going to win in Infinity War? Like sure, that's how it happened in the comics, but there was no guarantee that it would happen.

And while there were a lot of guesses about what was going on in Infinity War, I don't think any of us expected Thanos to die in the first five minutes.

To him winning in IF, yes, me. tongue

It’s difficult but not impossible for even Disney to keep surprise appearances under wraps, since actor announcements are watched very closely, like with how many have already guessed who’s who for the Ms. Marvel show. I think in the past Disney managed to get away with it by obscuring cameos under the guise of something else or shooting everything necessary in the span of a day. And NDAs aren’t guarantees; a short while ago someone who auditioned for Ms. Marvel blew hers over a Twitter fight.

To be honest, Infinity War was very much Spoiled by the Format. It was pretty easy to guess that the first half of a two-part epic is gonna end badly, especially when it comes to a grand comic book story like Infinity War. Also, the discourse surrounding IF was huge.

As for the show, I'm loving it so far. I would go as far as to say I like it more than most of the movies. Although, I am finding it very weird that people are acting like this the first time the MCU has told a story in television format (Agents of Shield and the Netflix shows did exist). I'm just happy to see Wanda actually be happy for once. It's weird how capable these actors are when they're given great material. Elizabeth Olsen was never bad as Scarlet Witch by any means, but this is the first time she feels engaging.

I'm really wondering how characters like Darcy or Monica Rambeau are going to be incorporated, though.

Agents of Shield and the Netflix shows did exist

But they were made by Marvel Television, not Marvel Studios. That's the distinction people are making in any case.

I wonder they’re going to balance Monica’s Spectrum powers. In the comics she can turn into any kind of electromagnetic energy, including light itself and move at lightspeed, which is absolutely broken for a superpower. Even Captain Marvel, stated to be the MCU’s strongest hero, doesn’t seem to be able to fight at superspeed, using her FTL just for traveling between planets.

[up][up][up]Gotcha. Fair enough.

Also, isn't this show also supposed to directly tie in to future films? I wonder how many tv characters will crossover in to the movies. Not everyone has access to this show.

Minor spoiler about Monica but we've already seen them in this show.

I figure Darcy is the one holding the remote at the end, while Woo was clearly on the radio in Ep 2.

@Aleistar I don't know, Disney can be incredibly good at preventing leaks when they want to be and aren't working with Bad Robot productions.

The show is always going to end up with comparisons to Legion (which I liked) as that had a similar Mind Screw vibe but I think it will end up fairly distinct in the end.

For one thing I am fairly sure that this is a one-and-done series, this season is the only season so everything will be tied up by the end. That is fairly significant inasmuch as it means any threads set up now will be pulled fairly quickly and not left hanging.

We've already met Monica, haven't we? She's wandering around the sitcom world as "Geraldine," sans memories at the moment if her "I don't know what I'm doing here" comment is any indication.

Well two episodes in and so far the most nightmare inducing moment of the show for me is Kitty Foreman repeatedly begging “stop it”

WandaVision 1 and 2:

Well, as the marketing suggested, this is weird as hell. The parts that played the sitcom bit straight felt weakest, but you do need some of that for it to work.

Ah, the old "black and white with a single pop of colour" technique. Nice foreshadowing for going into colour at the end of episode 2

Agnes is an interesting character. There's definitely something up there.

In other news, it turns out Disney Plus lets you change the colour of the subtitles. Eh, that probably helps someone.

Hydra make watches? Ah, right, Wanda's personal traumas.

Senior Scratchy for spin-off.

Bees?

I'm very excited to see where this goes. It is really neat to get something so different from the MCU.

If Quicksilver's going to turn up in anything, it's probably this. A small, fairly brief appearance, would probably be easier to hide.

I quite like Wiccan, so I hope the kids plot does go somewhere other than them staying babies or disappearing. Though I suppose they could just leave it on some ambiguity and possibly pick it up in something else later.

Watched the two episodes yesterday:

So why did Mr. Hart start choking? It was in a trailer, but in context was it because he was asking too many questions? Wanda didn't seem to be doing it, either.

Man, Mrs. Hart just saying "stop it" over and over was scary.

OK, so if there's a Stark toaster before the Hydra watch, Wanda's real life is breaking in on the reality in chronological order.

I liked the gum joke, but maybe it's foreshadowing?

So there’s a toy helicopter? In color? Okay...

Jeez, S.W.O.R.D trying to contact Wanda over that radio and then Dottie's very red blood was weird.

Bees? BEES???

There's a helicopter sound before it appears in the bushes and it has the SWORD logo so I guess the takeaway is Wanda did something to it unknowingly.

[up][up]My best guess to Mr. Hart choking is that Wanda caused it involuntarily, especially since it would only take a split second to move the food around in his mouth.

It's been coming off that while this whole situation is being manipulated by something, Wanda is tied to it and has some measure of subconscious ( and in one or arguably two cases conscious) control over it.

When Mr. Hart drills Wanda and Vision about their past and they get visibly distraught, suddenly he starts choking on a morsel of food he didn't eat, and nobody is able to help him until Wanda tells Vision to save his life. Later, Dottie starts giving Wanda the third degree, and Wanda gets upset again resulting in Dottie suddenly freaking out in a similar way to Mrs. Hart and the radio screwing up. Then, of course, later she outright reverses time to keep SWORD from catching up to her.

It's as if Wanda is a victim of all of this, but deep down knows what's happening yet is instinctively protecting it. Which... well... Lotus-Eater Machine, yeah. I like the effect, because it means that while we're rooting for Wanda to figure out the mystery and gain her freedom, we can't entirely trust her to do the right thing about it once she does.

And at this point there's only one other person who seems to have autonomy outside Wanda and Vision's presence. The entire show is laser focused on Wanda and Vision except for the one scene with Agnes. She seems to operate differently from everyone else too, since she actually causes and enforces a lot of sitcom elements. The weird reality breaking moments never happen when she's around either, even the helicopter thing just stops dead when she shows up. Complete with a fourth wall breaking joke.

She's also literally the reason for the miscommunication in the first episode. If she hadn't shown up or had that magazine, Vision would have just told Wanda what was going on, but Agnes mislead Wanda on what was going on in such a way that lead to a standard 50s sitcom plot. Not to mention amplifying all the awkwardness with Dottie by hugely overselling how hard Wanda had to work to get her approval and overdoing it.

On some thought, this comic is at least majorly inspired by Tom King's Vision comic which did end with one of Vision's kids surviving and joining the wider MU.

So it could serve as some possibility that whatever kids show up here will survive the show.
