If Ruijerd and Eris don’t storm the castle we riot. Look at how disappointed they where when Rudeus told them no.

I think the divine advice is a crappy way of moving things along, too. I’m actively hoping Man-God is scamming Rudeus somehow so he’s not just a plot device with a voice.

Oh wow the prince is even trashier than Rudeus.

It is Ruijerd's God given right to assault a castle, let's behead some nobles!!

Rudeus having a form of dysphoria everytime he's forced into his old body explains his hostility a bit more. Hitogami is also pretty odd, this probably the most clear advice he's given Rudeus, for someone that wants to make Rudy trust him he certainly doesn't seem to actually be trying so hard on that front, hmmm...

Aisha being so mature for 6 year old is quite disheartening, she really needs a better mum. That said, her being smart enough to realize Rudy is a piece of shit and Rudy's intense embarrassment was just chef's Kiss well well well, isn't it the consequences of your own actions, dipshit!!

Pax is...a character. And not a very smart one, it's like he walked out of an NTR doujin. Roxy should have burnt him alive when she had the chance. I'm not sure if it's was on purpose that the episode he was introduced also happened to be one of the few episodes Rudy didn't do or think anything gross, but don't think it's going to make me change my mind about him just because it could be worse. That said, Ruijerd coming in to save them is inevitable, but considering Pax is still a prince will they be able to get out of this unscathed?

Yeah I’m curious to see how this situation will shake out. Pax is royalty but Ruijerd is supposedly one of the strongest badasses around, I’d like to think even a royal army wod think twice before fighting him.

My hope here... is that they'll be some recognition in Rudy that he and Pax aren't terribly different people. Or rather, I suppose, that Pax is a person Rudy could've easily become if he had indulged his worst impulses.

Like the Rudy of today is a better person than Pax. But the Rudy at the beginning of the series? Less clear cut.

I'd like to think the Rudy of the beginning is a lot smarter then the Pax of today.

Like, it's pretty obvious we're not supposed to take this guy as a serious threat. He's a moron, his plan is obviously stupid, and his only minions are a handful of servants that are clearly being forced to do his bidding. Rudy's been treating him as an inconvenience so far.

I wouldn't be surprised if this whole thing is resolved with the rest of the royal family finding out what the black sheep has been doing, kicking his ass and then apologizing to Rudeus for the trouble.

I hope Eris and Ruijerd do storm the Castle. However, where would they hide Aisha during the fighting?

[up][up]I'm not so sure they'll be on Rudeus' side.

Given how the Grayrat family has been shown in regards to Sauros's behavior towards his maids and the general tone of the show so far, I feel like a cover up is more likely.

Although I'm not sure how influential the Grayrat family is supposed to be.

And if Rudy being attached to the recently destroyed branch would negate any influence he might have due to his name.

Maybe his/Eris' name will have enough influence once Ruijerd is there as a Bigger Stick? But I guess that also depends on if him and Eris can deal with the societal implications of storming the castle.

Oh actually, things will probably work out without too much mess. I forgot the Man-God is manipulating things in this case.

[up]That could have been another faction purposefully letting it go, I don't remember the exact details, but there was that thing with Eris' siblings last season.

Her brothers were taken to be raised by the head of the Boreas branch. Which means neither Sauros nor Phillip had enough political capital for eris to pull much favors outside Asura, as far as I know

It’s likely that the royalty will sweep the debacle under the rug. The only question is how much of a mess Rudeus, Eris and Ruijerd have to create before the coverup happens.

Episode 8

Oh with them landing underwater I guess the teleport didn't care about the y axis. I wonder how many died that way? Some people might have even been caught inside objects...

The running gag about Rudy narrating his prison cells is actually pretty funny.

Really not a fan of the bulk of this episode. The blend of comedy infringing on what seemed to be a serious plot last week really bought this episode down in my opinion. Initially I thought maybe the comedy figure routine was going to slip away to deal with the serious parts of Rudy being captured. But then it just didn't. This episode just felt all over the place with the tone.

And even Ruijerd freeing those people didn't happen on screen! I though that would be the least they could do given he didn't get to storm a castle.

Lilia is actually the worst parental figure in this show.

Urgh calling Aisha a dull witted girl for not appreciating Rudy! Please get this girl a proper parent.

Of course she knew about Rudy, his name was said right in front of them in the rescue and they made a emphasis of how smart she is.

But really, that means the scene prior was pretty much just her wanting to get away from her mother trying to force her to be Rudy's servant.

I wish she could have separated from Lilia either here or back when the teleport happened...

I too am supremely disappointed that Ruijerd and Eris did not get to storm the castle. Instead we got ten minutes of sleazing over Roxy’s figurine. Bleh. I guess having an insanely strong prince for an admirer will be a boon for Rudeus sometime in the future. Overall though they could have glossed over this entire segment, though I did enjoy seeing the Thailand-inspired Shirone Kingdom.

I assume Zenith and Sylphy are having much more trouble, because there’s no way that the next rescue mission will have this little drama.

[up]X2 it should be remembered that Rudeus and Eris- actually fell from the sky. They just lucked out with Ruijerd caught them

I'm super torn about Aisha and Lillia. On one hand Lillia obviously cares for her daughter- her being the first person she ran to protect once she realized things were going to get bad. On the other she's such an awful awful mum, forcing Aisha to act way older than her age and trying to brainwash her into essentially being Rudy's slave. Travelling with Rudy is obviously not a good idea, but when she waved goodbye with her mum I was just left with mixed feelings (and it honestly weirds me out how there are people praising her for being "smarter and less spoiled" than Norn. It's like I'm back in the first cour where people were calling Eris spoilt for crying for her grandfather when she got kidnapped). Rudy and Aisha's interactions this episode were rather sweet though.

poor Ruijerd and Eris denied their palace raid but it's always nice to see things happening outside of the main character's knowledge though and it showed some decent development from Eris' side with her being eager to help out strangers. We did get introduced to an... interesting character in Zanoba, who has a reputation for ripping off heads and very little consideration for human life. He's convenient to have as an ally and so long as Rudeus can show him more figure he'll be kept on a relative leash (that figurine really shouldn't have been made nor sold without Roxy's permission though, God that entire tangent felt gross) but it's probably for the best he was exiled cause Ruijerd can already be a handful and he actually has control over his own strength. Pax' shitty arm getting broken and all his screaming was 100/10 though

Next week is turning point 2! The first one was a big change to the status quo with the mana calamity, what are your guesses for what's going to happen?

That's going to be hard to guess. Maybe Zenith/Sylphie/Ghislaine is being held captive by the world's equivalent of an evil overlord. Or maybe they'll learn the deets about Sauros, and the Dead End party get slandered into becoming public enemies. Maybe an ancient, almighty dragon will show up to exact judgement upon mankind. Who knows?

I'm going to place a bet on something to do with Sauros & slander.

I think they'll run into the larger Greyrat family or political enemies while trying to return to Eris' home.

[up]x 3.

Honestly at this point Roxy's parents are far and away the best parents for the entire series. And I am including not just the anime but up to where the light novels have been translated to in that assessment.

[up] Being fair, that was due to things that were ultimately beyond their control. The novels never really specified by the anime at least gives the impression that apart from them and the village elder who's job it is to interact with outsiders that most of the rest of the village barely ever speak and aren't that good at it. Roxy's father probably gets stuck with guard duty so often because he's one of the best at speaking with people.

@fillerdude BOY HAVE I GOT NEWS FOR YOU!!!

this episode definitely deserved its title, the animation and intensity was amazing from start to finish. From the sparring between Ruijerd and Eris, their later desperate attempt to hold back Orsted and then Rudeus managing despite his dying body to keep himself alive (so THIS is why they opted not to let him learn how to do incantationless healing), it was a visual treat

Rudeus is an idiot for not just letting Orsted leave the moment the strongest person he knew froze up in fear and their transport jumped off the fucking cliff but his actions did lead to a lot of interesting revelations. Orsted seems to either see the future or can time travel with how he knows several characters full names, development and mentions that he hasn't met them "yet", except Rudeus who he seems legitimately befuddled by. What is 100% sure he's got beef with Hitogami who, as I thought, is a fucking asshole

seriously, there's absolutely no excuse and he knows it. He never warned Rudeus that there's someone who hates his guts and would kill him immediately if he knew they interacted, he hid details about Ruijerd from Rudeus and when Rudy called out that he knows a lot about a dude he can't see anything about he just got sheepish about it. Rudeus is an idiot for dropping that line of questioning even if he was resigned to the fact that he was going to die. I do find it interesting that Rudeus felt sympathetic to Orsted's plight of being instinctually hated as well as Orsted healing him after being spoken to by Nanahoshi (who also doesn't seem to be scared of him, naruhodo...), doesn't really match the image of "evil dragon god" even if he donuted Rudeus and beat the crap out of the others.

On the negatives, Rudeus being annoying and pinching Eris in the nipples and his last thoughts being not losing his v card to her like they promised was eye roll worthy (and annoying because stuff like Rudeus awkwardly saying he wants to stop looking at Orsted in the eyes because he's terrifying shows the author can actually write comedy), but on the other hand Eris' pained and desperate screams really sold the emotions of the episode. She's been seperated from pretty much everyone she cared about with the knowledge that they're probably even dead and now the closest person to her was going to die right in front of her eyes and she wasn't able to do a thing about it, God, even if Rudeus can't help but constantly be the worse, I'll allow him to stay if only so that best girl doesn't have to breakdown like that again

Excellent episode, looking forward to the finale next week.

It really felt like they desperately needed Rudeus to act like a colossal dumbass in order to further the plot there. The annoying god guy not telling him anything about Orsted is one thing, but you'd think seeing two of the strongest people he knows freezing up would maybe tip him off that he shouldn't interact with the source of said fear. Also his typical perv crap I guess.

But overall, a pretty good episode. The sparring and combat is slick as ever, more mysteries abound with this encounter, and Eris is as Best as ever.
