Also I expect Geese knew about Rudy because Paul left a note at the Adventurer's Guild.

It's not him knowing that's a surprise, it's just very suspicious that he didn't up and tell Rudeus the truth. "Hey you're Greyrat right? Your dad has been looking for you and the rest of your family." For what reason would he have to hide this?

As for Bikini warrior, her sister, the shy mage, was one of the aforementioned victims that were displaced and enslaved and she was raped. Consequently she came out with a trauma if people especially men looking at her in the face so the sister dresses like that as a diversion tactic; no one can stare at her sister weirdly or otherwise if they're all oogling at her. Very strong "Quiet breathes through her skin" energy honestly

...Well that sure is an... explanation.

Man, the internet in general is just so desperate to convince me that no, actually, Jobless Reincarnation is a masterclass of fiction that completely obliterates all other isekai in the known multiverse, I just have to give Rudy a chance to develop and I'll see the full greatness of this faultless literature. Yet even if I ignore Rudeus and his abject refusal to not be awful, the rest of the setting is just... poisoned with blatant trash doujin bait.

I think that was mostly on Paul honestly, this is one time Rudy is more in the right. Like 80% Paul's fault, which would be lower if not for the fact to everyone else Rudy is still a child. Although to be fair Rudy could have realized something was off sooner.

Despite the awful situation Paul's gone though, lashing out at his son is just a terrible way to express himself.

One thing I wasn't sure on/forgot. Did Dead End know about the actual scale of the disaster?

Rudy & Eris were pretty close to the epicenter, so I was unsure if they actually knew how big a thing it was.

Also was it actually possible to contact them sooner? I can't recall if it was brought up at all, but I wouldn't think cross continental mail would be that much faster or reliable compared to their travel speed, barring when they get caught up as not being able to travel across the sea with a Superd.

Nope. If your noticed neither Eris nor Rudy have ever once considered anyone else to be victims of the calamity. It happened in the other side of the world where they were transported to for one, they barely met any humans for a long while not to talk of victims, it takes almost a day by horse carriage to get from Rudeus home all the way to Eris' so he didn't expect the scale to be that wide and they've both been heading to Eris' home with the mindset that all her family was perfectly fine as was Rudeus'.

As for contacting anyone, his home address is now defunct and the only time they could have contacted someone was in Zant port, where within hours of arrival Rudeus got kidnapped and stuck in the beast village throughout the rainy season.

[up]I was just wondering if maybe I missed a small detail, or something in the Light Novels that indicated it was a Big Thing that had spread.

So really, a big part of Paul's anger was from not realizing by coincidence Rudy was close to the center, maybe he thinks they were in or around the city when it happened? And not realizing the slow information spread has made Rudy and co just not find out about it by poor chance.

Rudy asking about Sylphie before his family was a pretty dumb and insensitive thing to do though.

[up]It was dumb for him to ask about Sylphie but to him she was the most vulnerable person he knew back home, Also his sister is here so he might have assumed His mother was here also and it was just Lillia and Aisha missing.

Re: explanation about bikini warrior Umm... that's not sad. Or rather it is sad, in the sense that it's awful doujinshi-tier writing.

[up][up] Paul is angry because he's lashing out. He has failed to find Zenith and Lillia so far. Then Rudy pops up and talks like he's been having a grand ol' time adventuring. He probably knows deep inside he's being unfair, expecting his son to somehow find the two women he himself couldn't. Never mind the fact that Rudy could have easily died out there, too.

And of course Rudy would ask about Sylphie first. Rudy probably thought Zenith and Lillia were already with Paul. That said, Rudy once again displays his lack of social awareness. Seeing his dad be a gruff drunkard should have clued him that something was off.

Yeah, I've gotten too old to accept the Watsonian explanation for these things when the Doylist explanation is just that the author wanted to insert fanservice. If anything I find the more "tragic/empowering" phrasing to be kind of annoying, I'd rather just watch Michiko and Hatchin which is chock full of tits and ass with the main explanation just being that Michiko likes to look sexy.

Nope. If your noticed neither Eris nor Rudy have ever once considered anyone else to be victims of the calamity.

Well Ghislaine. But she's an ex S-Rank Adventurer and a Sword-God-Style Sword King. She is trouble waiting to happen to other people and both Rudy and Eris know it. They're more concerned about exactly how lost she's going to get heading home rather than any physical danger.

Ghislaine isn't new to surviving by the skin of her teeth in situations stacked against her (she ate literal shit in hunger) so she's definitely the last person that would be on their mind in regards to safety.

Damn you Mushoku! Playing Paul's struggles over beautiful choir music? My one weakness!!!!! That said, I will admit that this does put into perspective a few things. For one Paul would probably be an even worse mess if he didn't happen to have held Norn when he got teleported. He lucked out landing near his (now completely gone) hometown, but the lack of progress finding his family all the while helping other people reunite with there's is rough. He's still a piece of shit, but that's a different matter

I still don't trust Geese and his weird round about way of doing things, but I appreciate him just casually telling Paul what a piece of shit he was to Rudy.

God that re-reunion started out so awkward. He was really trying to make jokes as if their last interaction wasn't him being a complete tool, he deserved to be beaten up by best girl Eris. Though I understand why actual best boy Ruijerd intervened and let them be alone (while still telling him "bitch, he's still alive, suck it up")

the long stretches of silence and them staring at the table, I'm not even physically there and I want to fucking leave. The barkeep was good stopping Rudy from leaving.

it's always nice Whenever Rudeus pass life experiences come back to his development like this. I'm not sure pretending that yesterday never happened would have been what I would have gone with, but it was nice seeing Paul reflect on the fact that he actually finally managed to get his family back and breakdown. My weakness to family angst mostly ties into the mother figures honestly, but Paul's VA was still great, even if he's not Natsuki "why are there tears in my eyes against my will" Hanae (sasuga king of BL)

lol at Eris being so difficult to manage that even child lover Ruijerd couldn't help injuring her. Good girl, sasuga Mad dog.

I appreciate that even if Paul and Rudeus can be "adults" and make up, that's asking too much for Norn who is still a child and who has spent over a year just with her dad. Will be interesting to see how they finally make up. And I'm curious on what the next region will be like, wonder if we'll get a new op again

Vague Light novel spoilers Norn staring wide eyed at Ruijerd as he pet her head and just staring the whole time at his figurine, lol

The barkeep was the MVP. He managed to cut through the tension on that table. Ruijerd helped too. I liked his line, "You may have your grievances, but those only matter while your son is alive". Damn right. Anyway, cool to see Paul and Rudy make up. They did well to struggle past the awkward re-reunion.

Geese knew Paul personally. That is interesting. He's not from Fittoa so he was probably a friend from back in Paul's adventuring days.

Also, dat bread, yum yum yum.

[up] Huh. I guess Norn will grow up to be a spearmaster who's also a Superd fangirl? That would be funny.

Geese is actually the last party member in the silhouette that we saw in part 1. Which is how he knew Paul.

And...yeah, let's go with that.

Oh now I get why people were hyping up this episode.

It was really solid, and it also might have been the very first episode Rudy had zero horny scenes in an episode.

Eris is the best yet again. I think I've said this every episode so far this season, but it remains true.

I'm glad they all made up, although Norn being so young still doesn't trust Rudy. Honestly I wish it would have been Aisha with him instead. I kind of just want her away from her mother for a while, because I'm quite worried about how she's going to be when she grows up.

Was anyone else a bit uncomfortable when actual rapist Paul entered the room with the shy mage with the rape backstory? I only know that detail because of the light discussion in this thread about the novel spoilers about her last week. But it makes me think she would not be anyway near as comfortable with him if she knew that.

Ruby's resolve coming from his past life was good though. I was also a big fan of the way he was animated eating that bread. You could see in the animation he could barely swallow it from the dread and stress he was clearing feeling about meeting Paul again.

It's definitely some awkward irony but to her Paul is just the dude that saved her life and he would have no reason to mention that either. Though according to light novel readers Paul has actually not slept with a single woman since the mana calamity, he just turned squarely to alcohol

[up]I don't think he'd mention it given the framing of stuff like that so far, but it just makes me feel a little uncomfortable.

That makes sense. I would imagine its a combination of character development, plus you know, the fact Norn seems to be the little holding him barely together prior to this.

[up][up][up][up] Ohhh they were part of the same party. So it makes sense why he’s also gonna look for Zenith. And why he stuck with Rudy!

Anyway, we know Rudy and Eris’ hometown is gone, so there must be something else waiting for them when they get there. Maybe Ghislaine? Or Sylphy.

I actually teared up way more in this episode than the last one. Poor Roxy has been through, a lot to be in a place where the only people you can talk to are your parents who seem constantly depressed at your condition (for reasons you misunderstand), she was essentially born disabled and became a stranger in her own homeland. I'm so happy that she was able to reconcile and realise her parents always loved her

it was pretty funny seeing Roxy freak out from realizing she had missed Rudy. Now that she's assured he's safe their reunion will probably take way longer but they'll definitely meet eventually. Saw it in earlier episodes but it's really a small world how her former party mate was the horse man that tried to black mail Rudeus. It's nice to see him in a not antagonistic light, really sells how there are different sides to people

Thinking back to the first season it's no wonder Roxy's hometown was so quiet. Only Roxy and her family actually talk. It's so sweet seeing the mom learning language so she can talk to her daughter. Nice wholesome episode (except for Elinalise at the end but at least her activity was offscreen), more of this please.

I'm not sure what you're expecting at this point, to be honest.

Its been a good string of episodes, but its because its not really wholesome and often touches on uncomfortable subject matter that makes it feel raw and emotional for me.

Oh yeah this was another great episode.

Really enjoyed seeing Roxy reconcile with her parents, you can really feel her pain when she arrives at the village.

The horse guy in a softer light was also pretty neat.

Also that's rude Roxy.

I hope that this isn't the last we see of Roxy before her and Rudy eventually meet up.

Knightof L Sama, could you please be clear about when your spoilers are referencing Light Novel content so that people can avoid them. From the context it just seems like a spoiler from the current episode, and this is the anime thread.

[up] There is no dedicated thread for the light novel and that spoiler was actually for the episode prior to that one. Major light novel spoiler for those not current Slyphie was present in her "Fritz" disugise in the scene where Sauros was executed standing along side Luke and Ariel. And for what its worth that particular incusion was anime original as well since there was no mention of those present except for the king, his advisors and Sauros.

Does anyone know how is the show doing in BD sales? Hope it is doing great.

As for the current story arc, I must say I was taken aback by having Paul and Rudy and Roxy and her parents make up in individual episode, other shows would condense both story beats into one episode if any. Good on the animation studio.

Episode 7

Interesting Rudy grappling with not liking being his old self. Although I guess that's to be expected. It's not like he misses his old life.

Still not a fan of the divine advice, although clearly shady on some level, I think its a boring way to get Rudy to do things. I hope the Man-God doesn't stick around forever.

Future sight? Oh it seems like the Man-God was being a bit tricky and was just activating Rudy's eye.

Those guards clearly don't get paid enough to be fighting mages.

I feel really bad for Aisha getting manipulated with this (minor) lie, she has a very raw deal with her mother and I don't like her getting manipulated further.

Oh Aisha is way too mature for her age, but also disillusioned with Rudy. I wonder if she also has past life memories? I'm glad at least she's not listening to her mother about Rudy anymore.

I guess the reason for hiding his name is a lot more straightforward than I thought.

Ruijerd:I haven't assaulted a castle in ages. I laughed.

I don't think it would go smoothly though. If the Grayrat family have someone like Ghislaine (even if she's a bit of an outlier) a kingdom's capital should have a bunch of people around her level present or on call for situations like that.

Is this a trap? Or is it Lilia? Oh its the Prince Roxy was tutoring.

So this guy was trying to capture Roxy? That's gross

Still find this guy conceptually annoying because it feels like the narrative saying, oh look Rudy isn't so bad look at this guy!

And he's an idiot and didn't spread any rumors, I wonder if this is accepted behavior in the royal family or not. Doesn't really give an indication either way. His guards/servant seem reluctant, but unable to object. But with this guy being very dumb and the tone of the world so far, I suspect he'll get condemned by his family for being so obvious and blunt about it rather than the end goal of his plan.

I doubt the Man-God is tricking Rudy in this case, otherwise he wouldn't have had the pay off be trusting him. I do wonder what his end goal is though. It's surely for a reason that benefits the Man-God, but it remains to be seen if that is also something Rudy will be happy to do. I figure its no where near as simple as a couple of arbitrary actions so far. Otherwise he wouldn't need to trust.

More Aisha next week going by the title preview, which I'm looking forward to!
